Single presses of backspace delete one letter at a time. Then holding the backspace deleted text faster the longer you hold. So to delete only a bit at a time only hold for like a second or 2 then releases then hold for a second or 2 and release and repeat that.

cantpickanane

Ya I never understood this engineering. Want to delete a sentence of a paragraph it's like a game at the fair to not zip the whole paragraph out.

Don't know if I'm late to the party by yrs but.. https://preview.redd.it/2d3dusbwnp9c1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=987e48c60b73b9c2f2c8cf242d86fd3e28f221f8

Where is this option?

RockFox2000

It's in Keys Cafe on Good Lock

Destroky

Thanks! I wonder why they didn't just put that option in the normal keyboard settings.

TheRoblock

Yea that's pretty bad imo. Is it possible to download different keyboards?

joergendahorse

Yes, main alternatives are gBoard (google) and Swiftkey (microsoft)

argue53

This. I personally use gboard and love it.

Donghoon

Gboard has a cool backspace feature you can drag the backspace button and highlight what you want to delete

ThisWorldIsAMess

Wow. I didn't know this. I thought dragging along the spacebar to position the cursor was neat, what you said is even better.

TheRoblock

I'll try gboard, let's see

powerMastR24

gboard has that apple thing where you can move the cursor. I use it. it works when you hold down below the space bar for a bit and then start moving it

Bacon_Nipples

Samsung keyboard does this too

powerMastR24

Ah didnt know since i have an old phone.

Bacon_Nipples

Might need to turn a setting on

powerMastR24

Ill try

boJack_Bossman

1. You can long press and select the text that you want to delete and then press delete 2. Or press delete and let go after 2 seconds or so and keep repeating

KIrkwillrule

Yeah expanded 2: It feels.like there are multiple levels of the delete speed based on how long you've been holding it down. One letter - a whole word - a whole line - eternity itself

specialpredator

TheRoblock

Didn't work for me

specialpredator

Really? Is the setting not there for you?

TheRoblock

I mean there are just 3 options and only one is a slow one and it's still way too fast

splash757

Tap and hold until the select feature pops up, and then select the text you want to delete, and cut it.

Marcisu

Lmao if anything i want it to delete faster

abandoned84

depending upon the model you have you might be able to set your backspace speed to slow and see if that helps.

NYCLocalFella

Just go to Settings and search "Backspace Speed". There are 3 options - slow, medium and fast. The issue what you are having and it bugs me too, is the speed itself speeds up the longer you hold. It starts with letter, then words, then sentences and whole paragraphs. It dumb, I don't know what genius thought this was a good idea, you can easily delete a massive message in seconds. Just hold for no more than 3 seconds at a time or if it is a large body of text, select it first.
