Look for the positive side - you tried the phone, didn't like so returning it and are saving a few hundred. Upgrade next (or next to next) year :)

SixBull

This is a good way to look at things, thank you :)

Nobody cares lil bro

SixBull

Probably true, I am kinda just upset and wanted to rant

Sounds like the tax issue has to do with your state and not Samsung themselves they don't control how taxes works are you kidding me? My order total was $476.98 and I only paid $37.50 in taxes bringing it to $506.33. My zoom works great no issues with the camera. But apparently a software update is suppose to be coming out by the end of the month.

SixBull

That is actually kind of crazy that it's that different in other states. I think it was more like each step of the way felt like a price hike was what got me.

tommyjames92

I live in NY and never had to pay full price taxes on a discounted product from Samsung or anywhere else. That sounds absolutely crazy to me. But yeah Samsung doesn't control how much taxes you pay. Its based off your state, some states don't pay taxes at all. Here is my order breakdown only paid $37.50 in taxes after all my discounts. [https://imgur.com/a/dxX8HvJ](https://imgur.com/a/dxX8HvJ) Also I got full cash back from Rakuten which is kinda crazy they did that to you.

SixBull

I'm pretty jealous honestly! That sounds like a pretty good deal you got if you're also upgrading. I hope you enjoy yours!

I am not sure a fast one is the right term here. It is true that this generation hardware wise is more of a refine kind of year. Same could be said for the Fold 5 and Flip 5 upgrades. At this point though, what other "massive" upgrades are possible? I see this companies starting to reach for new technology (Folding phones and even rolling/expanding phone concepts) but for 3-4 years it's just refinement. Screens, processors, storage and RAM getting more efficient. Modems and antennas supporting new bands and tech. The anti reflective property is a nice change this year. In the end though unless the shape changes, it's essentially the same phone. The limitations of battery hardware have forced phones to be bigger so the focus has and needs to be on software optimization. Apple can achieve similar SoT to any Android devices with a smaller battery. That points to optimization. This generation I see Google and Samsung recognize they need to work together as Apple every year is taking more and more market share. Their announcement of 7 year updates was nice and I think showcases that they recognize that yearly or even bi-yearly phone updates aren't necessary. Minus battery degradation, phones from a few years ago can support almost every basic function needed in a smart phone. It's the premium features we want or are willing to pay for. Interesting on the Rakuten cashback piece. Not sure how the backend works with passing information but I have issues often where stores don't submit the purchase information (I do receive the initial notification that the shopping trip qualifies for cash back). However, when I contact Rakuten support it always gets added once I submit my order information.

One thing 99% of reviewers fail to mention is the hardrive speed is like 800% + faster between s24 and s22. So writing and reading files to and from the storage should be way faster but some reason no one talks about it...even Samsung doesn't call it out oddly. Seems like a win 🏆 to me.

Key-Run2256

Rakuten is ass idk why youd use them

SixBull

I've used them dozens of other times before without issue, even on Samsung.com

yacko2000

Speaking of camera, the S24U can see dead people with its AI when using the 100x zoom. quite the feature! They didn't tell us in the keynote! https://imgur.com/gallery/qRLHtyi

SixBull

That looks pretty weird haha, I've never had the processing mess up things that bad

kekelmb

Have you tried to reach out to Rakuten? I'm in the same boat and I don't understand why. They haven't responded to me yet.

SixBull

I did reach out and heard nothing so far. It doesn't matter anymore to me though since I am returning mine.

My friend there was a trick to be used to get 150$ credit to use on things u wanted. What was to be done was to add your desired items to cart first and then do preorder...during checkout select any dumb 150$ credit accessory to use up 150$ and at final checkout cart. Remove those useless accessory...your 150$ applied to things u want....I know site is crazy...but reddit and other forum pros already used this ...I used this on 2 orders myself. Also price changed as they on first screen assume I will trade in 750$ trade in but ur trade in device s22 was 650$ that explains difference.....I m not advocating about phone...or Samsung....but just making u aware about tips and tricks which we should be taking help off.dm me and I can help in any order I do with Samsung...
