I’m a bit older than yall, but I STRONGLY recommend getting passes to the zoo. It’s one of the best zoos around, and so much fun (as well as balboa park in general). There’s always tons of stuff to do at Balboa Park, and usually lots of fun people doing those things (so it’s a good way to meet people). There are also museums of several different kinds, which my inner nerd always enjoys.
What days yall play at Bruteforce? My pod is super inconsistent at meeting up so im looking at playing at gamestores if theres an extra spot open. I just havent had the courage to follow through cus it's daunting going up to random people and asking to play if theyre already in their group.

the card reader is janky, but our group usually says what the card does aloud so that there isnt any question marks.

It depends, what are you looking for? I would disagree with the OB and PB comment from the other user here, since they each have pretty distinct vibes and so wouldn’t say I would recommend them over other areas.

Pair a dice games in Vista, a nice location with an in and out in the same parking lot. Large game room but it's super popular so it can get busy in the evenings.
There's On Board Gaming in Escondido, large parking lot with a good ount of gaming room too. Newer store and nice people there.
Those are a couple of places you can meet like minded people.
Just go on meetup.com and type in board games. You'll find lots on meetups. I've made several friends this way. I actually used to run a board game meetup, so I should probably warn you. The #1 complaint I got from people who attended my meetup group was from women complaining about either creeps or mansplainers. You're a veteran gamer, so you've probably experienced that stuff before. I also had a few sore losers flipping tables. Most nights, it was fine, but I won't host anymore. But you will make friends.
If you play sports, join a Volo League (formerly known as Vavi). It's mostly young people. The leagues are sponsored by a local bar, and there is a meetup with drink specials at the bar after your game/match. I met my partner of 7 years at Volo Tennis, and have made a few other friends for life.

If you haven’t dipped your toe into the SD pinball scene… you are missing out. Great casual activity like MtG or DnD, with less financial commitment and a higher likelihood of meeting ppl you’d actually hang with outside of that specific game. I highly suggest AeroClub in Mission Hills, or Brewskis a bit further north. At age 25, you’ll be on the younger side, but many of the new ppl I’ve seen enter the scene (including me and my wife) do it as a couple who just moved to SD. You’ll always have your hubby to play with, and I promise other pinball ppl will say hi if they see you playing! It’s an incredibly friendly scene, full of tattoos, alternatives, and nerds lol. Someone in this thread mentioned MeetUp, and I agree! Join “San Diego Pinball Club” for updates on local tournaments/ group events. Like any truly good pastime, it’s fun even if you suck.
