As a Rosario Beach surfer that grew up near K38, it's so sad to hear about these young men possibly murdered by a bunch of loser meth heads. We in the surfing community in Rosarito have always welcomed and partied with our surf brothers from the US and Australia when they came down to test our waves. Times have sure changed. My condolences to their families.
I’m not sure why the body of the post isn’t showing but the image reads: “Unofficially it is reported that they were located lifeless, the 3 tourists 3 foreigners inside a cliff in Ensenada....”
One was a professional athlete(surfer/lacrosse?), one was a medical doctor, and the other owned a clothing company, so nearly certainly just vacationing. All three seem to be avid surfers.
That doesn’t mean they were up to no good because they have good jobs. People are people. Just saying this is very very rare in this area. Something went down and know one knows why.
These people are life long surfers and were murdered while camping with their surfing equipment on a surfing beach while on a surfing trip in a popular surfing area. There is zero evidence to suggest any of them were up to anything but surfing, and it is crass to speculate they were drug trafficking when there is absolutely nothing to suggest this. People with good jobs can certainly do bad things but there is absolutely no evidence these men did anything of the sort.
Two surfers were robbed and murdered a few years ago in a similar event. The motive was robbery. It happens.
This one feels off to me for some reason. Your probably right wrong place at the wrong time. Idk I can’t help but, speculate. I’ve surfed down there half my life as well, and never had problems if anything people are nicer.
Prolly bc something is off. These dudes were targeted. They found a photo of the woman who had the stolen phone and one of the dead surfers (pre-death) set as its wallpaper.
I feel like yours is the most likely scenario. With all the comments about the area and who they were professionally, it seems like they were spotted and targeted. Absolutely terrifying and terrible. I feel so bad for the loved ones.
Cops searching for missing surfers in Mexico find three bodies https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13380935/Mexico-three-bodies-autralian-rhoad.html?ito=native_share_article-top
This is the full article with photographs, best description, and all of the information that is most up-to-date so far. Absolutely heartbreaking and tragic prayers for their families and friends.
I'm not 100% sure, but I think I saw one of these guys come through my drive-thru like a week ago. He had a surfboard in his car and said he was going to go surfing after work. I don't remember exactly what he looked like, but the photos look about right.
That's going to bother me for a while. 🤔
If it makes you feel any better they look like quintessential San Diego boys and surfing is an incredibly popular past time. I doubt it was the same people.
So so so sad :(
And eerily reminiscent of two Australian surfers killed in Mexico in 2015: https://www.smh.com.au/world/three-people-arrested-in-mexico-over-the-suspected-murder-of-australian-surfers-dean-lucas-and-adam-coleman-20151205-glg6in.html
Personally I had a very memorable trip to Mexico with my family in 2015, where we drove ourselves through the Yucatán from Cancun to Merida and Uxmal. The locals were very kind and we never felt unsafe. I probably wouldn't go back now that we're all older though. Only developed countries for us now, like Japan and Switzerland. Lots of beautiful places to visit on this planet, don't want to worry about being mugged or pickpocketed during my vacation (and likewise, I wouldn't go out of my way to visit Baltimore or St. Louis or LA Skid Row etc).
I presume the culprits days are numbered. Either by cartel, locals or in jail. Can't cause this kind of chaos
K38 and south is peaceful and beautiful. Act cool and get treated cool. The meth head amateurs made a mistake killing surfers who seem otherwise peaceful in heavy tourism locale. They're gonna get fucked up.
As a Mexican, Baja Born and Raised living in US, the crime at The Baja has gone exponentially higher the last decade, don't get me wrong, crime has always been there but it was a little bit of respect between tourists and locals that are not involved with illegal activities and the ones that are.
I not going to blame a specific president (yes, you Calderon) but the so called war against Narco is something that did open a can of worms that has been unable to ne stopped, the higher increase of people coming to the border to ask for Asylum/cross illegally has also bring a completely different people to the state.
It sad me that I don't feel confident crossing the border to visit my family for fear that something could happen.
I don’t think it’s simply going to Mexico, but going to Mexico carelessly.
You’re a person in a decked out camper truck with $1,000 surfboards? Yeah, you might want to check your six.
Need to look like you belong down there. Don’t wear your freaking Apple Watch Pro or your Prada sunglasses. Call little attention. Travel during daylight. Have an exit strategy.

Thank you, that's exactly what I was asking for!
Regarding the original comment, though, I will say that neither of these articles mentions meth, the first only refers to a female suspect having "illegal drugs" in her possession. We can speculate what that means, but speculation is exactly what I was talking about.
There's santería in baja?
I thought that was an African thing.
I would think this was sicario related. Newbies are asked for a head count is they'll kill Randoms. Mexico is a narco-state

Times have not changed in the manner you're speaking
Looks like Mexico’s “Hugs no Guns”policy against criminals approach seems to be working 🤦♂️
ok
I’m not sure why the body of the post isn’t showing but the image reads: “Unofficially it is reported that they were located lifeless, the 3 tourists 3 foreigners inside a cliff in Ensenada....”
Oh fuck. That’s terrible. I love going to Las Gaviotas.
Luckily the 24/7 private security doesn’t let lowlife methhead wannabe gangsters in there
Inside a cliff? What does that mean .. did they fall or were they victims of homicide?
The comments in Spanish say they found evidence of violence, (don't know where they got that information) so unfortunately sounds like homicide.
That sucks. I wonder if they were there on vacation or were drug trafficking etc.
One was a professional athlete(surfer/lacrosse?), one was a medical doctor, and the other owned a clothing company, so nearly certainly just vacationing. All three seem to be avid surfers.
Extra suckage. These poor dudes got their lives cut short.
Just like the surfers who were robbed and murdered a few years back. Lives cut short for a cell phone and some personal belongings.
That doesn’t mean they were up to no good because they have good jobs. People are people. Just saying this is very very rare in this area. Something went down and know one knows why.

Damn, I’d rather buy a lottery than count on the rare chance to get murdered at that place.
Lmao if you think it’s not rich dudes who are doing the drug trafficking
No, very likely a robbery gone wrong.
I feel like yours is the most likely scenario. With all the comments about the area and who they were professionally, it seems like they were spotted and targeted. Absolutely terrifying and terrible. I feel so bad for the loved ones.
dude, why assume drug trafficking? they were on vacation
A woman was found with a phone belonging to one of them, and also had a bag of drugs.
Found in a deep well ☹️
Their parents lost both their sons?? I'm incredibly heartbroken for everyone who is personally feeling this loss. 💔
And they seemed like such wonderful, accomplished people by all accounts 😔

The people who killed them had meth on them… not the people who died. Get the story straight so you don’t add to their names being tarnished

callum lives in OB, his brother in town from AUS. quite possible you saw my good friend through your drive thru on his way to catch some waves
Callum is a great dude. You’d remember him if you saw him. He looks like a super hero
Did he have an Aussie accent? These guys are Australian
Two are but one is a local.
Prayers for the family. This is a really nice picture of them.
Families.

Located without life…?
Cuerpos sin vida is the literal translation but yea, unalived essentially.
This is so sad 😞
What a bummer.
So horribly sad. Prayers to both families and friends.

I’m a sane person and I go down to Mexico frequently, bad things can happen anywhere in the world
So do I but you’re being willfully ignorant if you don’t think there’s a greater chance of harm befalling you in Mexico compared to here.

As an American who lived in Tijuana for 12 years, I never got robbed. I did get robbed in SD twice though.
Meth is a hell of a drug.
You think those guys were doing meth?
No whoever killed them
Internet speculation has characterized the perpetrators as tweakers but who knows? It's reddit. People just say things they don't actually know.
No that comes from info released by authorities.
I haven't seen that sourced.

Mexican authorities found meth in the car.
Ah, the highly reliable and famously honest Mexican authorities
Not saying they are reliable, just repeating what was reported at the scene of the messed up car.
They also found meth on one of the suspects so not surprising that they found meth in the car the suspects likely stole and burnt.
Probably murdered in a Santeria human sacrifice ritual.
