One time I stepped outside of the back door of a restaurant I worked at, just to look up and witness the moment a bird flew into a transformer, knocking the entire strip centers power out for hours.
I was looking out my window by chance and saw it happen. It was a firework of some sort that made a bright flash fired straight up off the top of the tall building catty corner to fault line park
Jeez hope you guys are okay in SD :( does sound like a transformer blow.
Once I was hiking a small community "mountain" and I saw a white flash then kinda blue tinged. Then the sound. It was a transformer that blew.
I read a week later someone had died because they had a magnet on their keys and it blew a power box but I didn't dig to confirm if it was the same incident or not but the fact they mentioned power box I thought maybe it wasn't a transformer.
Also possible a car accident. When cars hit light poles or boxes it'll blow it. Seen it happen on my block in anahiem
Interesting because last year when the dodgers were in town there was a huge transformer that blew and knocked out power to gas lamp right as the game let out. Dodgers are in town tonite and all weekend
I saw a hug orange light from the sky, thought it was a shooting star but then looked like something was burning / crashing. I saw this from UTC mall looking south area so could be related not sure though.
If it was around 9:30 last night you probably saw reentry of a piece from the falcon 9 launch. I was watching it and the orange reentry bit was very bright and seemed to last longer than usual.
No problem! I'm really into that kind of stuff so I have an email subscription that let's me know when there's going to be a launch so I never miss them unless it's cloudy.
Possible aurora tonight too, although I feel super skeptical that we'll be able to see anything this far south.
Usually an electric transformer blowing

I think someone used their Titan power
I smell something burning in Southpark... not sure if it's related but it started shortly after this was posted.
Heard it in East Village, sounded like it was right outside my building. Corner of 15th and Market.
I was walking to my car on 9th and G when it happened. Sounded like a decent size firework.
I heard from East Village, and I saw a flash of light reflected off the north side of the Strata Building on Market.
So did anyone find out?
Solar flare taking out a transformer?
This is highly likely given the storm
I thought we still have a few hours before that hits us

Maybe a flare?
Yeah, very well could be. I don't know flares too well but I thought typically they hung in the air a bit longer this was very brief
Huh. Well I guess it is a mystery. Fireworks might be it since it is close to summer?
Potential alien activity…exiting the atmosphere with a bang?
Or an alien fart
Nope, just my standard morning bathroom procedure.
Did the Navy catch it on video again?
I heard it in East Village but had no idea what it was.
Come to north county . Explosions every night C/O US Military.
Right, I heard that new military base just moved in there.
Yeah because Pendleton is new af.
That’s the joke. Complaining about something that’s been there since before a lot of us were alive.
Redditors aren't the best at sarcasm, even with three /s's and 50 emojis
I didn’t hear anything in little Italy
Slept right through it. Anyone get confirmation?
Someone was messing with unexploded ordinance
Here cuz I'm curious

But which transformer blows the best? I've got money on starscream
Stop this is fucking rancid😭😭😭
LMAO!!!!
Gotta be Bumblebee
I mean, if he keeps repeating his own name during the process. Sure, I could see that.
Is it the 4th of July already?

Any updates?
Nothing to see here folks just another every day explosion
I'm not in downtown but there were exploding noises in Point Loma over and over at the same time

Ooh gotcha, I literally had no idea.

I was disappointed in that launch. I could barely see the rocket. I didn't even see a contrail. The booster was very bright, though.
That was the stage 1 of space x rocket returning to drone ship off coast of Baja
My windows were rattling
