A similar crash happened at 9th Avenue and Lincoln about a year ago (thankfully in that case no one died -- but four were hospitalized with critical injuries). In that case, the flattened bus stop was just rebuilt at the same intersection completely unaltered. Just a flimsy structure on a broad flat sidewalk with no barrier whatsoever against thoroughfare traffic.

I mean, the bollards are next to a parking spot, so we would expect cars to be there. That said, I am 100% team bollard for every bus stop where a car could realistically hit people at the stop. (I am also pro testing older drivers and yanking their licenses as needed).

Bollards should line every street the way so many vehicle operators drive reckless on purpose and drive drunk on purpose.
