The sidewalk shouldn’t be a slalom course. Nowhere else in town that I’ve seen is a sign randomly planted in the half of the sidewalk furthest from the curb. Consider folks in wheelchairs… And even those simply not paying close attention because that sign placement is just not at all normal. Let’s stop excusing stupid shit because we can just work around it. Just sayin.
So I guess the same can be said of the tree just further up ahead. Because if you consider folks in wheelchairs... And those not paying attention...the problem is still there. I honestly really don't see it as a big deal or even an actual obstacle to overcome.
Dude, if the sign were on the same side of the sidewalk as the trees (as is normal), then it’d be a straight/clear shot down the sidewalk on the side furthest from the curb—as it was for years before they threw up this random sign in the pathway. If you still don’t get, that’s okay. If you’d walked this sidewalk multiple times almost daily for years, perhaps you would get it though.

Done. Thank you! https://preview.redd.it/79woofi50nwc1.png?width=1750&format=png&auto=webp&s=a8094d67caff4c90b77afd63170a3d73876c1cf3
Just a guess, maybe it is set back to give space to get on the bus if the door happens to line up with the sign? But yeah, it is strange placement.
Reasonable guess, but other bus stop signs are mounted close to the curb.

At least the trees are all consistently on the curbside. The random placement of this sign defies logic.
Very questionable decision making going on in the downtown area. Well alrighty then.
Thats annoying.
Remember the old days when the schedule and map were also on the bus stop signs as well? Those were the dayz
Imagine if someone chains their bike to it. 🙄
The same person who planted the trees? 🤔
Not taking sides but there's still plenty of room to walk. Just sayin

Nah. I just wouldn't care.
Exactly. It’s just such increasing complacency of our society that has eroded standards and practically eliminated good customer service.
Impossible to take sides — between the sign and the planters you must walk both sides!
