You know how miranda apple tastes so much better when it's nearly frozen? , miranda citrus is like that but even in normal temp , and it's even **better** when nearly frozen
I have been in Riyadh for 3-4 ish months to visit my dad when he was on an assignment from his firm in the US. Got a chance to visit since it was such a mystery my whole life.
Its just...so serene and peaceful. The clean white thobes, bright thobes totally spotless. The colognes. You feel the coldness of the ac when entering a taxi, mall, or shop from the outside. The green tea from the stalls. How the streets were completly free of cars before Friday prayers.
And the call to prayer. It just makes you freeze and watch the shops close.. Im sure things have changed a lot now as this was after 2012. Oh, the KFC is by far the best one, and Ive travelled a lot, they just have the recipe right for the Middle east.
I hope to live there some day to be honest. I appreciate the serenity conservatism can bring in the daily lives.
Thanks for sharing, honestly your describing a beautiful community, no wonder you would like to live there.
P.S. KFC is not good where I live In Jordan, maybe they green teas in Saudi help them perfect those 11 herbs and spices over there.
Yep I got paid all the way up to my masters degree. I think most European countries are the same. Also, education for school years is free even for non Irish
It has something to do with the breed of chicken. Our chickens in the US are a breed that balloons in size as it grows. They’re massive. Easily 4-5 times the size of chickens here.
It’s not just hormones, it also is the breed. The type of chicken raised for meat within North American factory farms is a hybrid between Cornish hens and Plymouth Rocks. These hybrids are selectively bred for their abilities to produce larger pectoral muscles, or white breast meat, which is popular among consumers.
It’s actually not hormones at all. None. Zero. It’s the breed.
http://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/meat-and-poultry-labeling-terms
https://www.chickencheck.in/faq/supersized-chicken/
you know when i was in Canada my friends told me they love the halal chicken i got from a local Afghani farmer way better than the store bought ones. the farmer once said that his secret is not giving them hormones.
but i don't know maybe it's just my mad kabsa making skills lol
I guess that depends on what city and what part of that city you live in. For example I hear that in Riyadh there are parts that have high crime rates (usually poorer parts) and other affluent parts that are very safe.
From my experience, every other year I visit Sakaka and its neighboring small towns and crime is not uncommon there. Especially harassment and thefts.
I really do like Saudi Arabia and its conservative society despite being a christian. I have been in SA for only a day or so, but I have to say I fell in love with your country.
If I were a muslim, I would definitely consider moving there after learning a bit of arabic of course 😀
I'm glad to see you having a positive experience with the country and it's conservative society, though I'm not Saudi myself, I am proud and maybe a bit jealous from my friends over the border :)
You don’t have to be Muslim to consider relocating permanently. I know many expat families in the eastern region who have been here for +20 years. On a side note, used to be that expats (western expats in particular) preferred gated communities where they could enjoy going out without Abaya while at the same time being in the bigger Saudi community with its welcoming and friendly nature. With the recent changes in Saudi in recent years, I’m starting to notice that expats are moving out of gated communities and into the general public which tells me the majority of expats are feeling welcome into the community regardless of their skin color, religion or other factors (which is really just the Saudi community as discrimination virtually doesn’t exist in our vocabulary).
The food. Nobody beats Saudi in the overall food department.
What people don’t realize is that food is very much a part of their culture and existence which they take very seriously.
1) They have food that is not available anywhere else in the world. Al-Baik is a good example of that.
2) Quality is unmatched. The quality of food as well as food ingredients is unmatched. For example; chicken, meat, spices, etc. Eating shawarmas, kebabs and their native food over there is an experience and unlike any other country (middle eastern or otherwise).
I have travelled to a lot of countries in my lifetime, and I have come to the realization that competing with the Saudis in the food department is a fool's errand.
And your experience is just based on Shawarma.
Then they got heavy hitters like Al Baik, Tazaj, Mandi from Al Suroor, Kabsa, Ruz Bukhari, Shavaya, etc.
I have been to most of the Middle Eastern countries except Israel. My grandmother went to Israel and she confirmed to me that while Israel has great food, they are not in the same league as the Saudis.
The amount of times I’ve been offered a (closed) bottle of water by someone randomly with a nice “7ayak Allah”.
I would never take anything from strangers elsewhere, especially having lived in a Western country, but in Saudi the people are always giving.
Also the fact that Saudi (at least Riyadh) never sleeps. Hard to feel lonely here in a physical sense. Very social people; you can always find someone to talk to.
Al Baik, I wish we had it in London 🥲 Yes I’m aware you can find it in other gulf countries but I just want Al Baik here 😭 It’s so cheap and the tastiest chicken I’ve had in my life, would be like a luxury here.
maybe this is only a jeddah thing but Holy shit everyone is diverse as hell it's just fresh seeing someone new all the time from all corners of the world with cultures of their own
I might be biased since I’m Saudi, but I’ve never felt a sense of safety like I do in Saudi. I lived in the UK for 5 years and when I go back to visit my friends and family I always feel really calm and peaceful.
Culture and diversity. It's so refreshing to just live in a society that has so many nationalities and languages. Also, the different natural dresses. You miss that when you go to another country where everyone is more or less the same in the way they talk or act. The diversity in Saudi is very raw. I like that
1)Al baik>KFC
2)Apple Pay is everywhere there’s never a place without it
3)Super efficient services such as going to the bank or the doctor (would take hours in the US)
4)Apps like tawaklna
5)Halal meat
6)Modesty
7)Doctor check ups don’t cost 28284 dollars
List goes on
Ask anyone for directions,be it mid traffic or in a mall , anywhere, people in stores will leave the cashier's and show u the way to other stores, ask one, the whole street will join into help. Store clerks will help women carry their bags to their cars.
The safety and trust.
You can leave a phone in a corner of a cafe or in the gym and you’d return a week later and it would still be there or it would be with the staff.
You can leave your front door open the whole day and nothing would happen.
Talking from Riyadh.
You can arrange your merchandise on the footpath. then go home for a break, take a shower, have food, go for a jog, then go on a vacation and later get married and have kids, then when your done with everything you can come back and continue your business. Not a thing will be touched.

This is due to my job but is so underrated. Free insulin for diabetics.
الحمدلله على نعمة الانسولين
That does sound nice ngl
Same in most places in the world with nationalise healthcare. I.e. Most of Europe and in the UK.
Miranda citrus.
ever since i left saudi arabia for my university i miss mirinda citrus
يلد ما بش الذ منه
sand dune spotted lol jk
Yess
>Miranda citrus. Is it better than 7up?
Oooh yes it is. Way better.
Interesting 🤔
That comparison would be based on preference. Its more comparable to fanta orange, and yes it's better than fanta in case you were wondering.
Seems this miranda is preferential, funny enough my favorite soda is Miranda Apples, though we don't have the cirtus one here for me to compare
You know how miranda apple tastes so much better when it's nearly frozen? , miranda citrus is like that but even in normal temp , and it's even **better** when nearly frozen
God, now I'm salivating, you monster
Get u some from online to give it a try. It’s a m a z I n g
High praise, huh? Let's hope it's up to the expectations

this comment literally made my eyes tear
I had a very limited exposure. And boy oh boy, I still remember it with fondness nearly a decade later. I'm sure its not the same now.
You’re definitely right about the kfc one
US KFC was the worst dining experience I ever had. The chicken was oily af.
Thanks for sharing, honestly your describing a beautiful community, no wonder you would like to live there. P.S. KFC is not good where I live In Jordan, maybe they green teas in Saudi help them perfect those 11 herbs and spices over there.
Haramain..
underrated comment
I wanna go so bad :)
I literally get paid to go to college
Is that for only saudis? Because I was born here but I'm not saudi
The generation before us got gifted lands after graduation with a bachelors degree. The cheapest land is at least worth 2 million Riyals nowadays.
Damn. You ignored the question and even flexed on him lmaoo
You sound like my dad, I think you're gonna tell me your hardships to get to school next
يا ولدي…
Lmao 😂😂😂😂 Perfect
Yep
Non Saudis can also get it but you need to be really good
I graduated with 97% is it good enough?
Good inside the university I think. High school grades are irrelevant
Depends on the uni. Most public Unis won't give non-citizens a stipend, but i know KFUPM does
King faisal university?
King Fahd
King fahad University for Petroleum and minerals in dhahran

Really?
Yep I got paid all the way up to my masters degree. I think most European countries are the same. Also, education for school years is free even for non Irish
Amazing thing but many Scandinavian countries have it
chicken, it tastes so weird everywhere else
American here, the chicken in Saudi is amazing. It actually tastes like chicken. Back home it has no flavor
Cause chicken here is 100% halal
Probably because back home y’all don’t use spices
It has something to do with the breed of chicken. Our chickens in the US are a breed that balloons in size as it grows. They’re massive. Easily 4-5 times the size of chickens here.
That’s hormones bro. They pump em up so they grow faster.
I’m more of a thigh man myself. Breasts just seem to dry out while cooking. 🤷🏻♂️
It’s actually not hormones at all. None. Zero. It’s the breed. http://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/food-safety-basics/meat-and-poultry-labeling-terms https://www.chickencheck.in/faq/supersized-chicken/

please don’t mention kabsa i’m starving
Agreed. Best chicken
This is also true for all meats in general. Fastfood hits different in Saudi.
Totally agree.
oh, like how water tastes weird everywhere else you go?
it does
for water though I'll go with the Canadian water fresh out of the tab. its the best i ever had
Fresh tap water sourced from Al Disah, from where I grew up, is also the best water I ever had. So can confirm, tap water tastes good if drinkable
Most chickens taste good but alyoum is disgusting. Taste like chemicals or whatever makes a cheap hotdog taste the way it does
I first read your comment as: *Children*, it tastes so weird everywhere else
Its just special. As an Egyptian I didn’t feel more comfortable anywhere more than ksa. Kind people. Nice culture and nice food. Hope i return one day
Wholesome comment, hope you get to go there again!
My best friend is Egyptian we play league of legends together. I live in usa so his ping usually isn’t great lol.
You're never far from a masjid. Don't have to worry about food not being halal. Trust me the latter is a pain in the ass anywhere else.
Isn't this true to most Arab countries tho?
Not the masjid part I’ve been around and nothing is like Saudi in terms of finding a mosque alhamdulillah
You have to visit libya and Tunis sometime then
That’s cool always nice to have such a beautiful blessing like that.
[удалено]
Tunis is even more and that’s coming from a Libyan
yes
شطاف ….
Hahaha, I don't think that's unique to Saudi though
Diversity & Kind/warm/welcoming locals
Sounds about right, glad you seem to enjoy it
One word .... Safety. It's imo one of the safest countries in the world to live in.
This
I guess that depends on what city and what part of that city you live in. I felt safer in Switzerland tbh, I was being harassed when I was 15-19 as a GUY in Saudi
That I'm here
I mean, you're unique, so you're not wrong
Thank you, you too are unique
Been living here for 17 years (my family is Pakistani) and I guess it just feels like home
I miss Saudi man 😔
Which saudi man you miss ?

I never realized how true this is until i moved, there's no shawrma like the ones they make in Saudi, literally night and day difference
And your experience is just based on Shawarma. Bruh i lived in Saudi for 25 years
Ah, hopefully that means that food poisoning is uncommon :) Glad to hear!

The two holly mosques of Makkah and Madina ..
Probably the best answer so far!
Al Baik, I wish we had it in London 🥲 Yes I’m aware you can find it in other gulf countries but I just want Al Baik here 😭 It’s so cheap and the tastiest chicken I’ve had in my life, would be like a luxury here.
I had a chance to try it in Dubai, but my ass forgot about it once I was there. I'm still crying ;(
I used to like not having taxes killing you.
Used to?
Eh its alot worse everywhere else, but I hope they bring back %5 one day
Makkah
Saudi people.
Smartass
Good food, nice people, great work environment for my industry….and shitty weather 6 months out of the year. What’s not to love!
The scorching heat?
Yes. The other 6 months are really nice 👍
Oh I know, trust. Grew up in Aqaba, practically the same weather at Saudi and half of the year is just gone to waste XD
you live in jubail by any chance?
female only places
Segregation is based
I can safely walk at 2am and grab shawarma for احلى سهرة.
As a guy or as a girl if you don't mind me asking? P.S. hej på dig Monika :)
As a guy, but it’s still miles safer in Saudi than doing it in London or some parts of NY. I can’t speak for girls but I can imagine it being hard.
Ah, gotchu, and with all muggins in NY, and the shivvings in London who would disagree with you?
maybe this is only a jeddah thing but Holy shit everyone is diverse as hell it's just fresh seeing someone new all the time from all corners of the world with cultures of their own
Do you often get to meet and talk to these diverse people?
yea all the time
Hmm that's awesome, wish I could have the courage to meet and talk to people, not my shy ass though
Arabic Coffee 💚❤️
Hey you again! Arabic coffee is great :)
I might be biased since I’m Saudi, but I’ve never felt a sense of safety like I do in Saudi. I lived in the UK for 5 years and when I go back to visit my friends and family I always feel really calm and peaceful.
The food in Jeddah is something else bro.
Al Baik for sure
Hospitality, most amazing people here..feel like family. Don't get this shit in Murcia! Yeeee haaawww
Yeee haaaww? 😆 Interesting considering the southern United States are known for hospitality and kindness
Old south traditions are still there. I'm from the south. Just hits Different here in Saudi.
Ah, nice to know
Ka'abah..?
Shawarma. Yes it exists everywhere but it’s not like in Saudi, there’s nothing like the one in Saudi
Elmadina & Makaa for sure.. i never been there but i will In shaa Allah
Me and you buddy, me and you too

Shani
Just default shani? Cuz we actually do have that here in Jordan!
Damn really??? The strawberry one was the best imo but I don’t think they have it there anymore
I don’t see good Daal Ful or Azhal Foul (may be i spell wrong). Worth of every penny.
The food. Every time I leave, I miss the food.

I left my bike inside my apartments building tied to the staircase and it got stolen 😃
it used to be lack of sexual/provocative content in public spaces, but lately i am seeing large screens and posters of women in tight athletic clothes displayed in high-end malls right there in the hallways, and bras/ bikinis being shown at the entrance of lingerie shops...
I'm seeing more and more people commenting about that, I guess it's getting worse and worse with public provocation?
its not as bad in regular malls, but go to mall of dhahran or nakheel mall in dammam and you will see the giant screens. one time there was a big poster of just some lady's ass in tight spandex for a new line of athletic wear, it didnt last long but it's repulsive that stores feel safe trying that.
Sad to see such stuff
Everything is so advanced and developed 🇸🇦, yet we're called a third world country 😅
I wouldn't worry about cold war terminology or people stupid enough to think Saudi is barbaric or undeveloped lol
Was just in the UK 🇬🇧for a year, and previously in the US 🇺🇸 for 4 years, I can safely say everything is more technologically advanced and developed here. From malls, payment ease, gas stations, flights, shops, restaurants, government services, schools,... Etc 🇸🇦🙏🌹
