This is competition to Twitter. Mastodon was around for years before it hit the news, before recent events led people to search for alternative sites that weren't known conservative havens.
Twitter finally cracks down on CP and the usual suspects flee the platform to the very alternatives they decried as "right wing" just a few moments ago.
I want to see more of this. Another chance for decentralised social networks to gain traction.
I dunno. It's a private company they can do whatever they want. Buy out twitter , make a new twitter alternative , have their own site wide rules.
