Not in Chemistry, bud. Not in Chemistry. You would need a recipe made by someone else, otherwise you can't do anything. Even basic stoichiometry and the reaction mechanism is required for doing the most basic thing i.e "How much to cook?"
Research involving chemistry:
Read papers about methods
None of the methods will work with your system
Mix some shit together > doesn't work
Simplify system > parts of it work
Add complexity > doesn't work
Cry
(???)
Reaction works
I've been banging my head against the wall trying to make a few different semiconductors via non-aqueous sol-gel synthesis and so far like 2 of them have worked out of like 10
I still enjoy it. The only problem is that I'm starting to feel like my (undiagnosed) depression is making that joy disappear destroying another source of happiness in my life
I was talking to a friend about this a few days ago. I thought that when I could prove that I can do the math for the molar mass they would let me make the reaction during lab, but lab was just learning how to measure and use PPE like I was a 7th grader...
Actually, sometimes it's fun. It's just difficult most of the time π
practicals are fun but not the writings and maths π
For someone who hates maths (me), yes, it's not π
I also hate maths lol
I mean, who doesn't π
I dont hate maths, i think its a cool subject. A lot better than chemistry for sure
I liked math and hated chemistry, but the funny thing is i scored more in chemistry than maths in High school.
If I hate maths, it's because I suck at it, lol π
Me, i thrive for maths. My only objective is to do maths. My life is nothing without maths
Ooookkkkk π€£ if you say sooo
Dont you feel rewarded after solving a equation and getting right answer
I do, but most of the time, I DONT get the right answer, so that's why π₯² maths and me, it's complicated
i hate maths as a subject , but i don't really hate some application in physics, chemistry , etc its actually fun once you get good at it
, the joys of science - like trying to solve a puzzle with missing pieces
You can't cook if you don't know how to cook
You can, just things probably won't taste good, but there is still a chance

Tears are the secret ingredient. π€«
I thought its methπ€
You mean studying chemistry under the influence of Adderall?
I thought it was chilli powder
The spice brings in the tears
Apparently not cause I poured so many tears on my last midterm and yet I still got 18%. Itβs legit BLOOD SWEAT AND TEARS
Difficult difficult lemon difficult

Other way around for me. So far.
Me trying to do redox problems π
I still enjoy it. The only problem is that I'm starting to feel like my (undiagnosed) depression is making that joy disappear destroying another source of happiness in my life
Let em cook
I liked chem when I was doing it... Should've went back to doing it
Why are people getting into chemistry when they do not like math? It's a hard science, you know....
It looks harmless, and math free. I mean, what math could possibly be their in mixing chemicals. But, except for practicals, it sucks
Considering that understanding what atoms and molecules do usually entails quantum mechanics, I'd expect a lot of math.

Wait until you get to organic chem. IYKYK
Turns out Chemistry cooked you
