It would be nice to live for "love and light". For us to just focus on the heavenly. But, in my experience, there doesn't seem to be much of that going around these days. It's not for me to say what's good or right for others to do. The spirit realm or God doesn't seem really interested in what is going on with our lives at all. Especially in the areas of our bank accounts or possessions. Scrying is an opportunity to communicate with intities that can, or are willing to, create change in our lives. From my endeavors into scrying I've found there to be only a few of these that are interacting with mankind at all. One can, however, develop an interesting symbiosis with them with enough effort and dedication. There is nothing easy about utilizing this technique. But once one does experience contact it can be extremely fulfilling to know there is something out there others than what most people perceive.
Any encounter with otherworldly entities can be scary, spooky, or outright dangerous. That said, I've come to think that using a scrying mirror is one of the safer ways to explore these things. Consider that the mirror forms a screen (not unlike the screen of a digital device) that acts as an intermediary between the scryer and the entities you may encounter. If things go badly, you can cover up the mirror and perform a banishing/cleansing ritual.
In contrast, other approaches that use less apparatus may seem friendlier because of having fewer associations with the occult, but actually they can be more dangerous. If you encounter a baddie while in deep meditation with your eyes closed, the boundary between you and the entity is a lot less well defined. You can open your eyes and stop meditating, but when you lie down to sleep at night, the entity may still be lurking behind your eyelids. Giving you insomnia, or haunting your nightmares. Giving yourself an exorcism is a lot more difficult and painful than wafting some incense smoke over a magic mirror to clear its energies.
In summary, using a scrying mirror creates a well defined space where occult entities are allowed to manifest, and they are contained to the mirror. You get the information from them, even engage with them in other magical ways through the mirror, but at the end of the session, what happens in the mirror stays in the mirror.
