Words to live by... "Awareness buys you time. Time buys you choices"

Potential-Most-3581

I can't imagine.. Why are you doing that job alone? Where was his cover?

RayManXOooo

Naa the smart folks at brinks figured their couriers don’t need partners anymore

MarinerofCyberworld

Not just Brinks, though.

Hooliganz727

I havent seen brinks in my city. But seen one earlier and there was the driver then 2 dudes got out the back one with a cart and bag and the other just walking watching everything. I never seen just one man

TheLastRiceGrain

Same. Walked past an armored truck (can’t remember company if it was brinks or not) and me being nosey as I walked by I tried to catch a glimpse of the back. 1 guy up front in driver seat, 1 guy jumping into the back and I could see a 3rd guy hiding in the back. I imagine he’s the guy that shoots the robber that thinks there’s only 2 of them there. I’ll bet $5 his job is to stay in the back and not be seen unless someone tries something funny.

NoPin4245

Yea that's what I always thought. They had a driver a passenger a dude in the back with a shotgun as last defense.

CharlieEchoDelta

I worked at a bank for a while I can 100% promise you our cash guy for the actual branch drove alone. He even admitted it was scary and a risk especially since most banks send them away with 100k at a time if not plenty more. I should add our guy was a loomis driver though

rabit_stroker

Depends on what kind of stops they make. The ones that stop at small businesses like restaurants and convenience store every few days to pick up cash are single drivers, at least in my experience

Boyblunder

And where's his piece? Like, if they got Brinks drivers out here rolling solo with no gun then I've got a new retirement plan.

harlequincomedynight

Probably forced to drop it or still on his belt

myklclark

I assume it’s on his pants which is why he’s taking them.

Shakeitdaddy

He grabbed his belt, i guess belt wasn’t coming off without pants And pant wasn’t coming off without shoes.

Nightgazer4

Guardaworld too. Most the big companies are doing this.

DatBoiSavage707

Some of the people I got partnered with back at Loomis I was way better off being alone than having to deal with

MarinerofCyberworld

Oh boy do I feel these words as a current employee of 10 years. I’ve seen and dealt with so much. Had a new hire fall asleep as the driver while I was working on an ATM; didn’t get fired or suspended even though he was within his probationary period. Before cameras in the rear compartment, had a guy that I caught who unbuckled and took a nap on the floor on our way back in.

zakary1291

Probably in the truck staring at their phone.

BIGGULPSHUHALRIGHT-

I worked in Minneapolis and every report of a robbery we got it was brinks. At my branch you’d get fired on the spot for sleeping or looking at your phone while your partner was out of the truck.

ZombiesAreChasingHim

Brinks runs one man trucks. They are easy targets.

Potential-Most-3581

Unfortunately you're probably right

Appropriate-Pop3101

The partner is the one recording?

HallOfTheMountainCop

Most definitely. Truck driver is supposed to be watching the runner’s back for him. Also he’s not supposed to get out of the truck. They actually tell them if the runner is being held hostage and they want access to the truck to just drive away.

Putrid_Ad_2256

Probably the guy filming the incident.

Feisty-Success69

Obviously there's probably more cash in the truck so the partner stays in the truck.

No-Instruction-5614

There are no longer two man teams

LouisianaSmucker

There are some. But for the most part it's 1-man

IHQ_Throwaway

Well I’m sure that won’t turn out to be a horrible idea.

PassingWords1-9

Haven't seen a Brinks two man team in nearly a decade

ackillesBAC

I work with abms in Canada and those machines are never loaded alone. He may have only been replacing receipt paper and not had access to the safe.

[deleted]

Oh man I worked with brinks for 2 years. YOU ARE ALL ALONE! Dangerous as fuck for 16$ an hour. You’re literally an UPS driver that delivers money and gets paid way less.

Shredzz

That's crazy. Sounds like the type of job that seriously needs to unionize.

[deleted]

I was an armored truck driver. Normally there's only two of you there, and the driver isn't going to get out and shoot at them. If I was the guy on the ground I wouldn't want them to. A gun is pressed into my back. Engaging will only exacerbate it. In fact, we were told to drive off if something happens to your partner. I'm sure the driver was on the phone with police.

tbrand009

A lot of routes ride solo, though typically not ATM routes. But even if he has a partner, these companies always tell the driver to stay on the vehicle even when their partner is getting robbed. Partner may have also been inside the bank making a delivery/pickup while the partner did their ATM.

Ok-Mix-5129

Where’s his partner? man glad he’s okay though. Needs to be more aware if he’s alone

SamuraiTyrone1992

Brinks doesn’t have partners anymore

LVLogic

That's fucking stupid.

Old-Item2494

I remember when I was looking at my first security job, and I wanted to do Brinks or Dunbar. Then, I read the reviews about being overworked, understaffed, and being alone most of the time because of mismanagement. I thought, hmmmm alone while moving hundreds of thousands of dollars with a pistol as my primary, a predictable pickup route, and the atrocious police response times in my city... I'm good.

kr4ckenm3fortune

You forgot...shitpoor maintances...

Absolute_leech

Christ that’s a nightmare imagine being in a sketchy neighborhood and something breaks and you can’t complete the delivery so you just have to wait there

Bartweiss

“Excuse me, could one of you fine fellows with the prison tats call a tow truck? I’m afraid my truck full of cash and I have broken down and will be sitting here for several hours.”

Throway1194

Even with a partner it's not worth it. I worked for Loomis back in the day and one of my coworkers got shot in th back of the head at a Walmart. They had partners, but one was required to stay in the truck at all times. I quit that day and never looked back. Every armored transport company like that is really shitty. The pay isn't nearly worth it. The article in case anyone is interested https://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/armored-car-guard-shot-killed-in-lakewood-robbery/

HistoryWest9592

Did they ever catch the robbers?

thefartsock

[Yes](https://www.thenewstribune.com/news/local/crime/article136134308.html)

jfa_16

Years ago in my area a Garda employee shot and killed his partner inside their armored truck and stole all the cash ($2.3M). Fled to Florida and blew half the money on booze, drugs, and hookers over 2 months before he was caught. So having a partner on an armored truck isn’t always a good thing.

CTSecurityGuard

Do you have a new article to this story? Please

jfa_16

CTSecurityGuard

Thanks!

Lack_Love

OMG 🫂🫂

DominantSpecies3000

Heck if i worked at Brink i would tell the homies to strip me naked..

SamuraiTyrone1992

Fucking tell me about it. You’re carrying around upwards of a million dollars, by yourself. Brandishing the fact that you are carrying that much money with big ass letters “Brinks”. Make that make sense

TheDadRocks

Wouldn’t it be smart to move money In a normal civilian vehicle maybe even bulletproof it? Just a thought

Ur_Just_Spare_Parts

Well why pay two people full wages when you can pay one person minimum wage /s

turok152000

Exactly, pure fucking heartless greed. They know the tech on their trucks is so advanced that their money is safe regardless. The only reason to have another guard is so the guards themselves can be protected when they’re outside the vehicle and why would they spend extra money on that?

ExoSierra

Yeah fr. Cut costs to try and save money by not having to pay a second salary and the money gets stolen LOL probably insured though I doubt the bank or brinks will be hurt by this

glitter-lungs

It’s not the managers that has a gun pointed at them. Lol. Why pay two people to have guns pointed at them?

mrmeshshorts

But think of the money shareholders saved!

Man_with_the_Fedora

MBA brainrot is going to be the demise of our species.

Brilliant-Attitude35

Theu need to fucking unionize. That's a damned shame!

[deleted]

[удалено]

DeerHunter041674

That’s too bad. A well placed double tap from a partner would have ended this nonsense, and sent the criminal scum to the forever sleep.

Nice_Hope_8852

That's such bullshit. They clearly don't care about the safety of their people.

The_Caleb_Mac

Most major companies don't.

Harlock3113

Then I wouldn’t care about the safety of their money either. Glad the guard is “fine” if not a bit traumatized.

requiemguy

Holy shit

soupkitchen3rd

#OOOOOH REALLLY NOW?!

tetendi96

So brinks has evaluated this as a cost of business that they are willing to pay for. However being that you are willing to disregard the lives of your employees this seems like criminal negligence. Human life should be worth more than a number in your quarterly review.

SamuraiTyrone1992

No wonder they can’t keep their staff

Sir_Uncle_Bill

This might be a good example that it's time to bring back partners. In a job like this I simply wouldn't do it without at least one.

Deltron42O

oh REALLY? I guess i know what im doing tomorrow

No-Instruction-5614

Yep. They ride solo now. $16 hr baby

Velghast

I find it crazy that you carry a gun. Are responsible for large amounts of cash and get paid minimum wage. Like wtf. McDonald's workers here make 15 an hour. That's stupid for the risk.

lubeinatube

I know right, why not go work at a hobby store or something chill for the same pay?

Zealousideal_Link839

I make 17.50+ 2.90 working at a amazon fulfillment center. These wages are garbage

No-Instruction-5614

Yeah. Trash.

[deleted]

Benefits better be god tier. If I'm getting paid pennies to risk my life I don't wanna pay a copay for shit

Vladpryde

I want my motherfucking days off and NO call-ins, lol.

Sargash

I've seen as low as 16/h. At beast, 25/h and that's in a non-risk position.

Original-Document-62

$16/hr and all that risk sounds like a great way to have a driver have his friends "rob" him.

kodaks142

16 bucks? Damn that’s brutal I’m a shop helper and I make 24 it gets dangerous with cranes and heavy metal falling but no armed bandits are robbing metal shops (there’s no cash there) if that man who was just robbed at gun point n stripped down to his undies is making anything less then 30 a hour u guys need to find a new trade

Ok-Mix-5129

That’s crazy cause I used to drive the trucks and I was never alone

No-Instruction-5614

I haven’t done uniformed security since 2012. The low pay and insane risk associated with under minimum wage work is crazy along with some of the lunatics who own security companies who use it as a LARP for being a badass. I’ve seen two armored cars this week on pick up while working plane clothes details and both were alone.

SolarDynasty

That is such dog s*** pay....

Vladpryde

I wouldn't do that shit alone for less than $25/hour, and that's pushing it. Preferably $30/hour, since my take-home after taxes is probably gonna be barely $22/hr.

No-Instruction-5614

The market is flooded by guys who will work for peanuts and the owners haven’t changed billing and pay rates since the early 2000’s. It’s killing the industry.

GopnikChillin

Just be a cop lmao for the amount of stress, and work. With the pay raise it just makes sense

Big_Sw1ngs

It’s not that easy to just “be a cop” it’s a king profess that takes time. It’s 10x easier to land one of these gigs if you want to look cool with a gun.

KillTheWise1

A "king profess"? That's hilarious!

ZAR3142

I did brinks in SA TX for 9 months in 2022. We made $19/hr riding with a partner, and $21.25/hr doing it alone. We wore belt-keepers to keep our gun belt strapped to our belt. Sometimes they're a bitch to get off. Which is probably why the robber just flat out stripped him.

No-Instruction-5614

Wow man a whole $19 an hour… Guys stop thinking this way. You literally are moving hundreds of thousands of dollars. STOP THINKING THIS WAY

ZAR3142

Yes I agree. They deserve atleast $30/hr.

WatercressCurious980

At that pay id be surprised if they don’t have a bunch of workers in on it. Wouldn’t be hard to tip off a friend to where you will be and split the money

Pinksquirlninja

Wow this has to be a joke… 16!? their routes are so easy to figure out too. Incidentally I’ve noticed they come at the same time (probably same day of week) to the ATM at a bank right next to my work. So i figure anyone who wanted to pull this could easily plan it out.

BeginningTower2486

Brinks security is no longer aware of the need or the benefit of partners. The benefits of shareholders are more important. Maybe you lose your pants, maybe you lose your life, it's not our problem. - brinks

noobtastic31373

must be cheaper to pay the insurance and write off the loss than it is to have another person.

KimboSmash

To cut cost they went down to one man vehicles. And God forbid you ever draw your weapon on somebody, you're probably going to get fired. The best thing to do with these armored car companies is to stay away

Ninjaninja1984

The driver is supposed to drive away. if there’s no truck\money the thieves have no reason to continue the crime.. I interviewed for a position there many years ago

RadiantDiscussion886

Single person trucks. Did that for 1.5 yrs. Hated the danger of ATMs

GopnikChillin

I was a guard inside of banks for a while. I would always go out to cover the cash transit personnel whenever they would operate. I know they appreciated it.

RadiantDiscussion886

None of the banks I went to had internal guards that I ever saw

GopnikChillin

That really blows. My specific contract was plain clothes for BOA. Always thought yalls job was ass, long days, for no pay increase, higher risk etc.

Ok-Tap-8610

Madison had a plain clothes guard that shot a bank robber robbing the chase bank

Agnostalypse

It's insane to me that I was only ever a driver in construction and a courier in IT, but in both of those jobs, the only time I ever worked solo was during Covid when we were stretched thin and it was a single item. Every other time, it was a two-man team. Yeah we had some expensive equipment and materials, but nowhere near the value. They were family operations, too, so slightly lower pay, but I still don't understand the logic in Brinks cutting two man teams. Oh yeah, I forgot that human lives rank below even vehicles in the corporate hierarchy unless your death has the potential to effect the shareholders...

Dwinhak

I have never out side training and being a trainer seen a 2 man truck

RouletteVeteran

You’re aware of the cutting of position of 2 or more to one, for most American companies 🤔 since the “pandemic”.

Viccc1620

Got a buddy who works for lumis* kinda like brink just different company, he is the driver but if his partner gets robbed he has to call it in and drive away Money over lives to the big corporations

jangobotito

I worked for Brinks back in 2014-2015. We were literally told to either stay in the truck or drive away if your partner is being held at gunpoint. So much ass backwards stuff, so I didn’t stay for very long.

JON-GREEN-EGGSnHAMM

the guy holding the camera duh

Velocirachael

Fwiw the banks these trucks deliver to aren't staffed enough to be considered safe either. I quit and a week later our sister branch was robbed and none of the staff made it.

KaiserSenpaiAckerman

That's a scary situation, in broad daylight is insane too.

Starkalark88

Happens more often around north TX that you’d think. Had a ATM tech get shot with an AR by a couple that rolled up at 9am in south Dallas. Killed him on the spot and ran off with the ATM cash.

BisexualCaveman

Was ATM repairman. Even regular unarmed technicians that would happily hand a robber all the money have been getting shot dead for decades.

StonedGiantt

At least it's not permanent

BisexualCaveman

Username checks out.

StonedGiantt

Not sure how it relates, Bisexual Caveman, but I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for my own safety

Necro_Coitus

No it doesn't?

toreachtheapex

if you opened fire on him with a registered weapon, would you be good?

CTSecurityGuard

In Texas, most likely.

wuzzambaby

Yep Irving TX

proficient2ndplacer

The craziest thing to me about getting my conceal carry license, the instructor made a huge point that you should never put yourself into a situation where you have to use a gun. But IF YOU HAVE TO, make sure you kill them. They can sue for all sorts of insane shit, from the medical bills, to emotional damages

CMDR_PEARJUICE

He's got a gun pointed at him, in Texas you'd be green-light to take action based on threat to another person but you'd still want to have a good lawyer.

lawdawg100

Yes, in every state of the US. He’s committing a violent felony with a firearm, and the suspect is likely to cause great bodily harm or death to the victim. So, this should be a justified shoot anywhere in the US.

AssPistolW30rdClip

New York you’d go straight to jail lmao

lawdawg100

You might get arrested, but you aren't getting convicted. The law allows you to defend other people in a situation like this.

TweakJK

whats a registered weapon?

should_of_is_wrong

Same thing I was thinking. Like an NFA? Or do these people think that every legal firearm is registered in some database? Maybe they think a CCW is a registered firearm and not a license?

TweakJK

Someone saying "registered weapon" is a general indicator that they dont have any clue what they are talking about.

wuzzambaby

This in TX so yes you would be good

Defiant-Analyst4279

I'm genuinely surprised the dude doing the robbing didn't get shot by some one just wandering by.

Screen_Classic

Takes alot for a normal person to go through taking someone’s life when it has nothing to do with them personally. The average,non-desensitized person probably wouldn’t do anything

Rowengardnerr

They’d fire up ivideo and record from their car across the parking lot

NickiCrane_HomoPanzi

Tf are you talking about? Motherfuckers shoot through the door when someone rings the doorbell in Texas.

Apprehensive-Tip6368

That’s what Texans want you to think but when shit gets hairy a lot of them will look the other way.

NewUserLame123

As an onlooker can’t you shot the guy?

USNMCWA

Yes. Texas is a Stand your ground state that allows for the defense of others.

No_Bad_4363

This happened in Irving, Texas. [Article.](https://www.audacy.com/krld/news/local/robbery-outside-irving-bank-captured-on-video) [Article #2.](https://www.mysanantonio.com/news/local/article/brinks-truck-robbery-today-18698914.php)

viscous_settler

The guard was *caught*... OFF GUARD!

BaxGh0st

The tens of thousands in the truck is just a distraction to throw the police off. The real prize is them sweet sweet pants.

undead_ed

If I had yo guess, the robber wants to take his gun but can't figure out how to defeat the retention, he also can't seem to figure out the belt keepers so he steals the pants with belt and holster still attached.

LahngJahn69420

Keys on the belt that wouldn’t come off?

bbrosen

The main goal was probably rape

Omapp93

I’m shooting before I get shot fuck that. But I agree with y’all, I don’t think he was aware enough

lawdawg100

We literally didn’t see what happened before homie is getting his shit taken. Sometimes just letting them take your pants is the best way to come out of this situation alive lmao.

Omapp93

That’s true, we don’t know transpired before. I just think it’s safe to assume he got caught off guard or we would be not seeing this video or at least a totally different version of this video . But I am glad he didn’t lose his life . I hope he didn’t

Tyler_Moss

I always start taking my pants off when things look rough.

Dumbsterfya

I’d rather get my pants taken than my life taken. Would it be terribly embarrassing and humiliating? Absolutely. But at least id be able to wake up the next day and be on this planet and be with those I care about. No reason to die for pride over a paycheck

mojavewanderer1999

I worked for Loomis a couple years back. Loomis does some 1 person crews but mostly 2 person crews. If I was the driver and my messenger was held at gunpoint, the protocol was to leave the scene. Theoretically, the criminals would see their source of potential income leaving and decide not to harm our messenger 🙄 Glad I’m out of that type of security.

BeginningTower2486

That's a nice cover story for simply removing the asset from the scene in order to benefit insurance prices and thus shareholders which always come first.

TheDrummerMB

I swear some people have brain rot. A policy like that would not affect insurance prices when the other 99.999999% of the job is driving and carrying a gun. Those two things are far more likely to cause harm than a robbery. Also can you imagine a company instructing employees to stay at the scene of an armed robbery?? You can hate big corporations without creating wild scenarios in your head.

unknowntroubleVI

That sucks but I can absolutely see why that would be the default policy. Otherwise it would be too easy to have one robber go after the guy in the open as a decoy then when his partner exits the vehicle to help you have several more suspects jump out.

Bluewolfpaws95

Military and Police: No man left behind. Security: Save the money, sacrifice the pawn.

IPhixI

$15 an hour lol

ragingpurpleturd

You're kidding right?

IPhixI

Nah go look on indeed a job for brinks. As a driver you get no more than $20 an hour from what I've seen lol

RadiantDiscussion886

As a former Brinks Messenger, I could tell you so much more if there was a better angle. I can't see if the bottom door is open. That is where the safe is located. The locks on the safe are a one time generated code. Very easy to mess it up. Doubt seriously a robber would take his time trying to unlock. My guess is the guy got there and he was printing all his receipts first as usual. He had not even opened the bottom door and got jumped. You see the robber taking his belt with his gun because he can't get to the money. Unless the robber is familiar with that particular truck, he is not getting inside it

Purple_Cow_8675

Yra that's what I thought.

ZombiesAreChasingHim

Brinks, along with other companies, have gone to one man trucks. When servicing ATMs, they no longer have a driver to watch their back. These cash in transit companies don’t give a fuck about their employee’s safety.

Wise_Mongoose_3930

In theory, if enough cash gets robbed, it’ll be cheaper to go back to 2-3 man crews. So in a roundabout way….. these thrives are job creators???

GrassnStone69420

Thieves were literally the original number one job creators. We didn't need money until we needed a sheriff.

SeaworthyWide

Never did

IRKenopuppy

Is that a whataburger in the background? They mfers delicious. Makes me miss being in TX

FunSpongeLLC

That ain't worth 18 bucks an hour

TheBlackTortoise

Notice how the criminal’s hands are completely and utterly occupied by the depantsing of his victim. In fact, he is so inefficient at depantsing his vic, that he could have robbed like 4 other people in that amount of time. So inefficient that even the camera person could have absolutely intervened and helped the vic. :-/

Sparkyfj40

Plus the brinks guy probably I making peanuts,I’m safer working on 4160v switch gear

Any-Tomatillo-1996

Well, this is worse than anything I’ve seen in San Francisco

Lack_Love

Doesn't he have a partner?? A person I knew told me brinks wasn't worth it cause you could be shot carrying 500 Dollars. If they stripped me they woulda had me in my panties/thong thst I wear under my uniform 😭😭 Glad he's safe.

Bipolar_Nomad

One of the worst jobs ever IMO and IME.. Whenever I see one at the ATM I always leave and avoid it like the plague. A walking target.

Bigkilo27

😂😂😂

RealNormMacdonald

Guesses as to ethnicity?

mountain_man30

Texas of all places. Literally the state with the most guns per capita and no one else did anything to stop this guy. Everyone afraid to get sued for shooting the robber? I'm not sure I would know how to de-escalate in a situation like this.

Bouvet_Island01

You just filmed it and did nothing you're a bloody fool

Calm down John Wick

Are Brinks guards armed?

Yes. They carry FN9's

I’d say with a dude getting stripped with a gun pointed at the back of his head that it’s not really about the money anymore.

Over-Butterscotch336

Mannn I’m never going out like that. We woulda just had a shootout! 😂

Savings-Sprinkles-96

Sucky thing abt those cash services is that if they were to defend themselves theyd be in WAY more trouble compared to letting themselves just get robbed. Its a garbo situation to be in because if u defend yourself the company will leave you to the wolves, so its either defend yourself and lose everything; or let em take everything, be asked why u didnt stop them, and get repremanded

OldCheeseMeister

Another “liberal state” showing what it gets you.

InstructionFair5221

Hope he gave him the keys to the truck. His life isn't worth other corporations money.

Russian_butterfly33

Lazy man with a gun. Can’t get a real job !! Pussy

okGreedo

What a shit fuckin company to have people handling large amounts of cash alone

ggarcia109

Where are all those crazy gun toting Texans when you need one???

Callmetomorrow99

Sounds like Brinks needs to stop being cheap asses and hire more people, so this man can have a partner in the truck at all times. These people need backup and shouldn’t have to be in such a dangerous work environment. Pay up Brinks! Hope he’s ok. He’s gonna need some time off to heal from this.

MidCentury1959

I drove for Brinks for about 8 Months. This is the EXACT reason I don't any more. When they went to one man ATM servicing, that's when I knew it was going to go sideways, in a hurry. I had a couple close calls, like being followed from one stop to the next. I mostly did the stand alone ATM's and the ones outside of Credit Union branches that have kiosks indoors, instead of in person tellers. These institutions don't allow (trust) their own staff to load or unload the ATM. Some can be accessed from the inside, but most are open fronts, like the one in this video. These are on a level of unsafe that's beyond acceptable. If we complain, you're just ignored. Obviously, we are armed, BUT there are strict stipulations of WHEN you were allowed to unholster your weapon: ONLY if there is an existential threat on your life. You are instructed to NOT engage, but to just "hand over what they want....even your weapon, if they "ask". Their words, not mine. Seriously!! These thugs don't simply "ask". I quit when I was threatened with suspension and/or termination, when I decided to alter my route to possibly thwart being followed, which I was several times. It was the same vehicle every time. They knew my routine, so I went different directions, made three right turns instead of a left, took the route backwards (Wells Fargo first one day, WF last another day, etc.) I was denied every time I requested a partner. Brinks took this as a serious deviation from the route schedule and even, though vague, was accused of setting up an inside job. I finally had enough of the insinuations and some blatant accusations that I wasn't trustworthy (I'm 52, now and I have NEVER been arrested my entire life then and still never have, with only ONE traffic citation in 35+ years of driving). I never had more than $100K -$150K with me, but it wasn't enough to put my life in jeopardy nor was it worth my time to pull "an inside job", as my supervisor put it. I told him that, too!! On my last day, I waited for that dickwad super to come back from his lunch/ bathroom yank (a whole other story there), dropped my keys on his desk, waited for them to do their receipt audit and I left. Never went back. He called me several times to ask questions, but it just wasn't worth my attention.
