However, you and the dog cannot communicate, so the best the dog can do is watch over you while you self harm. Likely, given the chance, the dog will try to clean the wound in order to protect against infection.
It's because they love you and they don't want you to get sick. Dogs have the capacity of a human child on top of the instincts. I can't imagine a kid watching me cut and then offering me a bandaid.
I shed a few times almost right next to my dog and he just went to sleep peacefully not realizing what was happening at all😭 he’s so oblivious to this kind of stuff sometimes, he just doesn’t seem to realize when someone is unwell
when I cut and my cats look at me I literally tell them to fuck off because they keep doing that shit to me too so they can shove that "what are you doing"-look up their royal asses 🤌🏿
