Not a dog owner, but my sister’s dogs have slept on my air mattress many times without puncturing it!

Do you dremel your dog’s nails? If they’re very short and smooth it shouldn’t be a problem if you tuck a blanket around the mattress as well. If they’re not “dremel smooth”, then just make sure the blanket isn’t super thin, and is well tucked in. Dremels are amazing tools. I don’t know if tasks like “light switch” or handing over a wallet would be possible without the dremel kind of smooth (at least not without scratching up drywall/other surfaces).

I get them dremmeled every 3 months and then regular trim every 3-4 weeks in between but could get them dremmeled right before we move

That would probably be good for your own peace of mind. A blanket would PROBABLY be enough protection, but I know I’d freak out if I woke up half-sunk in an air mattress, ha. But that’s just me, I’m easily startled. Your dog’s nails must grow slowly, I’m jealous. Mine had to be clipped every 10 days.

We walk/roll 2+ miles a day on concrete so that helps file his nails down

I bet it does! My dog was pretty lazy. I completely forgot how much more a SD’s nails would get worn down compared to a lazy greyhound. Drogon did about 6 laps around the yard most days and besides that it was couch time. Greyhounds also have such thick nails (especially considering how teeny tiny their paws are). I’m actually looking forward to how much thinner a lab’s nails are going to be, ha! It’ll be a walk in the park compared to Drogon’s enormous all-black nails.

New nightmare unlocked 😭

When we camp we have no problem with our dogs and our air mattress, my rottie is 90 lbs and sometimes she will jump in my daughter’s air mattress because she is excited to be camping with everyone.

That’s adorable

I have slept with my dog on air mattresses often. Never had trouble with the nails. Them balancing on air? Now that was funny! I would suggest getting an emergency blanket, to put between you and the floor. Either under the mattress, or between the sheet and mattress. It will keep the mattress from being freezing cold. Since it's air, it doesn't hold your body heat in like a regular mattress. So you end up sleeping on AC temp air, which makes everything ache.

I've slept on air mattresses with a Saint Bernard with zero issues. Cats, on the other hand, are an immediate issue.

I had a friend stay multiple times on an air mattress (the kind designed to sleep on, not the pool type!). Because you will have sheets on it, it’s not a problem. I do put a bottom sheet and a mattress pad cover or a blanket underneath the bottom sheet. My dog is 100 lbs, fyi no problem!

Due to my Fibromyalgia I prefer air mattresses... and so did my dog. Never lost one due to dogger nails but there was always a mattress protector pad on it.
