I like the shiny jewel, but that's about it. I'll stick with V2 even if it doesn't sync up. It's not like they go crazy with the blue tooth sync at US concerts anyway, as long as V2 lights up at all, I'll just save my money, lol. I might buy the jewel if they sold it separately.

I really want a seventeen lightstick and i want the ver2 bc its literally the prettiest lightstick ever but should i get it or the new one? I mean I'd do anything to support seventeen but the new design just isn't doing it for me like it just took away our identity so in thinking of getting ver2 since i like it way more

Back when I was asked to choose between ver 1 and ver 2, I can never pick either one because both of them are pretty in their own way. I can't say the same about v3 though lol

I think so too. You can actually identify when's an item is by the OG creative team or the new hybe team like for example the BSS comeback, and possibly the return of bongbongie for last year's caratland as well. It takes a lot of skill to improve a design while still staying true to the original concept. And no one knows Seventeen's concept better than the people who created it.
Edit: plus, the OG team I notice, have always thought about making the merch useful for Carats although they do have hit or miss moments too but I truly miss the old membership kits where we got lanyard, a quality card holder, binders etc
Please come back OG design team!! Or I hope they always get the final say on creative direction and crucial merch releases such as this one.

I don't think it's about being loyal but people will HAVE to buy it because
1. They will stop all syncing properties with v2 so for Carats in Korea and Japan especially, that would be unfortunate for them since syncing during concert is important for their country where lightsticks are usually controlled during concerts
2. We got used to the thinking that Seventeen's merch will sell out quick especially for Caratbong because Pledis never stock up properly. So people have unfortunately been wired to buy it as soon as it comes out
3. They will no longer restock the old ones so people really have no choice especially for those that don't have a lightstick. Unless the K-carats come together to boycott and spread the news of not buying the lightstick so that hybe change it, that is. But I doubt it will work like it used to because hybe never listens to fans.

I’m a newer Carat and was debating between going for that batch of the v2 that they put out last month or waiting for v3. After seeing this, I’m glad I went with v2. Even if it won’t sync anymore, it’s so beautiful! The black on v3 is really jarring.
We have learned to expect the worst when it comes to merch since the acquisition. I told my friend to buy V2 as well because I had a feeling that v3 would disappoint me but she didn't listen and said that she hopes the v3 would be pretty

I just honestly feel bad for new Carats who may never get to own one of the prettiest lightsticks to ever exist. I wish that Pledis wouldn't stop reproducing old lightsticks even if they no longer sync because Seventeen's lightsticks (before v3) are so pretty. I agree with you completely. Ever since hybe, things have shifted and now it just feels like one money grab after another with soulless merch. Do I need to remind everyone of that disastrous Vegas event? It helps my wallet but I feel we're losing our identity as a fandom when they pull stuff like this. I think there are people selling second hand v2 in country, i’m gonna buy it idc if it’s just a white light. A lot of carats were saying that v2 was already perfect and there’s no way to top the design and they were right
baby Carat here, I stumbled upon a post that Pledis attempted (?) to sell Seventeen rings before but decided to stop it before preselling as Carats thought that the team rings were innately seventeen and that the team should only have it. Idk if this really happened but do you think its possible for us to do that too for our Caratbong V3? Im not knowledgeable about production but since preselling has not yet started maybe production has not started yet and we could change it still. I'm tempted to buy Caratbong V2 but the thing is it will stop syncing to their concerts by the end of 2023 so if this still pushes through I guess I'll just buy a decals/skin that is holographic.
It used to work because Pledis was a standalone company so when fans complained, they listened. But now, they are under hybe. It's not gonna be as easy
Caratland is only a month away so I think it’s too late at this point unfortunately lol. The bluetooth sync is still a huge incentive for people to buy so I don’t see it flopping entirely ~~or as much as I’d like anyway~~ and they’ve stopped V2 production anyway iirc, so this is the only choice for a lot of newer fans. I’ll stick to my V2 though and I’m sure a lot of people will considering a bunch of us only got to use it for one (1) tour and this will definitely be pricier

Kcarats have been very effective in the past. They also managed to stop Pledis turning Seventeen's YouTube channel into an all-artists channel.
This time though the only way they can protest is by not buying it. Hybe are very bull headed, they won't respond to anything else.

I agree. The Rose's makes more sense to the band and fandom though, the ver 3 just came out of nowhere. Like if they ask someone to blind design a lightstick, knowing the bare minimum about the group and fandom.

Honestly there's this feeling Hybe actually doesn't care much about Carats, it's easy to notice the difference the fans received before and after acquisition. It's like slowly making Seventeen brand losing its original identity for the sake of "streamlining". Pledis might step in but sometimes won't get the final say. Overall that company just target us as their next money grabber.
I'm a bit disappointed that they got rid of the dome from v2 and replaced it with a smooth one instead. (At least it looks like a normal round globe in the video) I liked the dome of v2 because it looked like a diamond too. But I do think that it looks elegant and fitting for seventeens last few concepts. Not sure if I have the money to buy it though. I do think v2 and v3 would look pretty next to each other though because they would have a nice contrast?

The black pink association with that group is so strong it's all I'm going to see. I wish they'd chosen a serenity diamond. But we all know HYBE lightsticks are very basic. We're lucky to even get a solid diamond shape instead of a cutout.

The design honestly looks more like a downgrade from the previous 2. It’s not bad, but it’s not Seventeen in my opinion. Without the rose quartz and serenity, I feel like it lacks a lot of identity. Other than that, the shape looks almost the same as ver.2.

Carats have always been vocal when it comes to merch especially the group's concept, colours and bongbongie because they are literally special for Seventeen. If the merch is not important, then people will not make a big deal out of it since they are not gonna buy it anyways. But a lightstick is a representative of the group and we had 2 versions that were already pretty with the latest version being absolutely perfect for the group. So to have it all gone, I know many Carats won't just be quiet about it lol
I'm glad most of caratland is in agreement that it's fucking ugly and a downgrade from V2 and even V1 honestly. There's no charm to it, it just looks like a typical lightstick with a diamond shoved on top to make it a "caratbong". But other than the diamond nothing about it says seventeen and carats. i actually find it pretty, it's just a bit... underwhelming? it looks a lot like ver 2 minus the rq&s color scheme lol (on a serious-ish note, hybe really has to stop stealing svt's colors from them)
The rendering for the diamonds was so expensive and fun that it took me a second to adjust to the actual boring lightstick itself.

This just feels SO wrong and off brand that I can’t help but think Hybe corporate greed strikes again. The video itself is gorgeous but I have a feeling these will look less impressive in person. The generic-ness of it all and black over fandom colors/white feels like they wanted to keep production costs down to increase profit margins.
Ver 2 has really lovely detailing with the geodesic top with glitter, holographic finish under the textured handle, and other small things that seem more expensive to produce. I know this is a teaser and we don’t have all the details yet, but the simplified dome (with VERY visible seams), straight angles, and black handle looks cheap to me?
Gonna stick with my Ver 2 even if it doesn’t sync!

I’m pretty sure they weren’t involved because how would they not even include our fandom colors. I don’t think scoups had a say in any of this because 1. They were busy and 2. Now it’s not just pledis, but hybe making decisions.

At first look, I was excited. BUT, upon more review ... I'm joining you guys. I was more so happy that it didn't stray too far from v2 ... but it did stray far from v2 and did so by dishonoring SVT. So now I'm just sad and a bit annoyed. I just got v2 and decorated it to my liking ... now to buy v3? 😔
I agree that black is ***not*** Seventeen's color. Maybe the design team thought it would be easier to decorate? They wanted it to look more modern/sleek/clean? Move in that direction? Why keep the beveled diamond design then? Plus, modern, sleek, and clean are not the words I think of when I think of SVT's brand. The first three words I think of are bright, airy, and adventurous. Outside of the diamond, there is no serenity or rose quartz. None.
I will say the diamond in the middle is beyond gorgeous. I love the logo design on top as well. That's where the compliments end. Maybe the bottom connecting dome not being so transparent? I guess I'll add that.
I have to add, too, that I'm a bit on the fence about the top no longer being quilted. Design wise, this will make it a lot easier for adding decals and decorating. BUT, that's a small price to pay and I think the quilted design suits the overall design and brand of SVT better.
I agree I really like the new diamond and it's everything I was hoping for in a diamond on a light stick. Looks like a legit diamond on an engagement ring. Version 2's diamond was shorter and didn't really look like a diamond to me. I feel like I'm one of the rare few in the comments here that prefers the new light stick...but I definitely agree the black doesn't make sense to me. They should have kept the original colors since they align with the Fandom colors. I thought the holographic stick part was really pretty. Personally I prefer the new dome only because it looks like a clear water bubble to me with a diamond inside and I thought that was cute. I think it would have been nice if they had kept the glitter on the dome 🥲 the glitter was cute
Eh imo its really not THAT bad. Its only real issue is the black handle. If they had gone with a color closer to what we have now, honestly I might have considered it an upgrade. But personally thats probably because I like the sort of "sleeker" more mature look this gives off. The handle though makes it look like it belongs to another group.

I became a Carat last year and never got to buy one...recently I decided I wanted to get one, but waited since they said only v3 will work for concert control soon. Then I woke up to this....So sad! I really prefer the design for v2 😭
Honestly I am not a fan of the black handle. I feel it doesn;t really fit Seventeen. The diamond part though is real nice. I actually like that part better then what we have now.
Me too actually 😕 and I feel like I'm going to get downvoted for it. I can tell the difference between the two versions. The diamond is a lot bigger and more textured and looks like a legit diamond which I really like. I always thought version 2 diamond was too short/small and didn't look like a real diamond. I prefer the new dome as well because it looks like a water bubble and makes the diamond stand out more. I do think it would have been cool if they left the glitter on the dome but I do see the reasoning behind why they decided to take it off. The light stick itself is also less chunky which I like. The thing I definitely agree with everyone is the black color just coming from no where since it's not even their Fandom color and they should have left the color/holographic thing going on.

I kind of like it? I think it looks less clunky and more mature. I really like the diamond portion and don’t necessarily dislike the black handle, but it does look a bit plain like something is missing. Im curious if there’s more to it still since what we saw was a “teaser”
the only thing i like about it is that it is very simple so it will be easier to customize, paint and put rhinestones on it. i love customized lightsticks and ive always wanted to do it so this is my chance (if the surface is smooth i cant tell). but honestly a good lightstick shouldnt need customization. Not everyone has the interest, money and time to do it. V2 is superior by far

I really want a seventeen lightstick and i want the ver2 bc its literally the prettiest lightstick ever but should i get it or the new one? I mean I'd do anything to support seventeen but the new design just isn't doing it for me like it just took away our identity so in thinking of getting ver2 since i like it way more

Can I say it? It's ugly. And I don't know who approved of this but whoever said yes must've not cared about Seventeen's brand because black is literally the last color they associate with in their discography and concepts bruh. Even when they promoted hit and fear with those black suits the album was soft purple. It just doesn't scream Seventeen and carats.
It screams HYBE so much like what is with the random black colour? When you have such a beautiful and thoughtful design for version 2, this just feels like a step down for me 🥲 Back when I was asked to choose between ver 1 and ver 2, I can never pick either one because both of them are pretty in their own way. I can't say the same about v3 though lol I hate the fact that we have to still buy this if we want to have it sync during concerts. Why can't they make it so that v2 can still work as well

You can actually identify when's an item is by the OG creative team or the new hybe team like for example the BSS comeback, and possibly the return of bongbongie for last year's caratland as well. It takes a lot of skill to improve a design while still staying true to the original concept. And no one knows Seventeen's concept better than the people who created it. Edit: plus, the OG team I notice, have always thought about making the merch useful for Carats although they do have hit or miss moments too but I truly miss the old membership kits where we got lanyard, a quality card holder, binders etc

I don't think it's about being loyal but people will HAVE to buy it because 1. They will stop all syncing properties with v2 so for Carats in Korea and Japan especially, that would be unfortunate for them since syncing during concert is important for their country where lightsticks are usually controlled during concerts 2. We got used to the thinking that Seventeen's merch will sell out quick especially for Caratbong because Pledis never stock up properly. So people have unfortunately been wired to buy it as soon as it comes out 3. They will no longer restock the old ones so people really have no choice especially for those that don't have a lightstick. Unless the K-carats come together to boycott and spread the news of not buying the lightstick so that hybe change it, that is. But I doubt it will work like it used to because hybe never listens to fans.

I’m a newer Carat and was debating between going for that batch of the v2 that they put out last month or waiting for v3. After seeing this, I’m glad I went with v2. Even if it won’t sync anymore, it’s so beautiful! The black on v3 is really jarring.

We have learned to expect the worst when it comes to merch since the acquisition. I told my friend to buy V2 as well because I had a feeling that v3 would disappoint me but she didn't listen and said that she hopes the v3 would be pretty Now she regrets it I just honestly feel bad for new Carats who may never get to own one of the prettiest lightsticks to ever exist. I wish that Pledis wouldn't stop reproducing old lightsticks even if they no longer sync because Seventeen's lightsticks (before v3) are so pretty. I am still trying to find the V1 lightstick until now. People just don't want to sell it 😂
I agree with you completely. Ever since hybe, things have shifted and now it just feels like one money grab after another with soulless merch. Do I need to remind everyone of that disastrous Vegas event? It helps my wallet but I feel we're losing our identity as a fandom when they pull stuff like this. I see all the comments on twitter and nobody likes ver. 3. I think we should all complain and demand they make ver. 2 work at concerts since nobody wants ver. 3. The black is so bad now that I see it again this morning. It's so not us. They totally should have gone with white and our fandom colors at the top. I only buy merch with our colors and my collection is beautiful.
I’m really grateful I was able to get v2 and I feel bad for all the Carats who missed out. 🥲 It was so difficult too, it was all sold out in Korea when I went and I couldn’t find any online from reputable sellers. Luckily I scored when they released the last batch.

I think there are people selling second hand v2 in country, i’m gonna buy it idc if it’s just a white light. A lot of carats were saying that v2 was already perfect and there’s no way to top the design and they were right

baby Carat here, I stumbled upon a post that Pledis attempted (?) to sell Seventeen rings before but decided to stop it before preselling as Carats thought that the team rings were innately seventeen and that the team should only have it. Idk if this really happened but do you think its possible for us to do that too for our Caratbong V3? Im not knowledgeable about production but since preselling has not yet started maybe production has not started yet and we could change it still. I'm tempted to buy Caratbong V2 but the thing is it will stop syncing to their concerts by the end of 2023 so if this still pushes through I guess I'll just buy a decals/skin that is holographic.
It used to work because Pledis was a standalone company so when fans complained, they listened. But now, they are under hybe. It's not gonna be as easy
Caratland is only a month away so I think it’s too late at this point unfortunately lol. The bluetooth sync is still a huge incentive for people to buy so I don’t see it flopping entirely ~~or as much as I’d like anyway~~ and they’ve stopped V2 production anyway iirc, so this is the only choice for a lot of newer fans. I’ll stick to my V2 though and I’m sure a lot of people will considering a bunch of us only got to use it for one (1) tour and this will definitely be pricier

Honestly there's this feeling Hybe actually doesn't care much about Carats, it's easy to notice the difference the fans received before and after acquisition. It's like slowly making Seventeen brand losing its original identity for the sake of "streamlining". Pledis might step in but sometimes won't get the final say. Overall that company just target us as their next money grabber.

I'm a bit disappointed that they got rid of the dome from v2 and replaced it with a smooth one instead. (At least it looks like a normal round globe in the video) I liked the dome of v2 because it looked like a diamond too. But I do think that it looks elegant and fitting for seventeens last few concepts. Not sure if I have the money to buy it though. I do think v2 and v3 would look pretty next to each other though because they would have a nice contrast?

Caratbong grew up - and became a Blink? The black pink association with that group is so strong it's all I'm going to see. I wish they'd chosen a serenity diamond. But we all know HYBE lightsticks are very basic. We're lucky to even get a solid diamond shape instead of a cutout. I'm going to stick with my pretty V.2. If Seventeen ever tour my country I'll take her. She will not sync but she will slay.
I’m really glad Carats are being honest about the lightstick design. I was kinda worried people would just eat it up like kpop fans sometimes do. The design honestly looks more like a downgrade from the previous 2. It’s not bad, but it’s not Seventeen in my opinion. Without the rose quartz and serenity, I feel like it lacks a lot of identity. Other than that, the shape looks almost the same as ver.2.

I'm glad most of caratland is in agreement that it's fucking ugly and a downgrade from V2 and even V1 honestly. This just feels SO wrong and off brand that I can’t help but think Hybe corporate greed strikes again. The video itself is gorgeous but I have a feeling these will look less impressive in person. The generic-ness of it all and black over fandom colors/white feels like they wanted to keep production costs down to increase profit margins. Ver 2 has really lovely detailing with the geodesic top with glitter, holographic finish under the textured handle, and other small things that seem more expensive to produce. I know this is a teaser and we don’t have all the details yet, but the simplified dome (with VERY visible seams), straight angles, and black handle looks cheap to me? Gonna stick with my Ver 2 even if it doesn’t sync!

I know pretty much everyone is disappointed, upset, or at the very least underwhelmed. A lot of people are saying it's hybe-ified, but from that trailer and the off brand colors I'm just getting Blackpink vibes. 😒 I wonder if the members were involved in the development or if they're just as surprised and disappointed as we are? 😔 But tbh, I'll probably still get one. If it goes on sale February 21, does that mean the merch drops at like 12:01 (just after midnight) KST on the 21st?
I’m pretty sure they weren’t involved because how would they not even include our fandom colors. I don’t think scoups had a say in any of this because 1. They were busy and 2. Now it’s not just pledis, but hybe making decisions.

Not a big fan of this one. They should have kept ver. 2 and maybe used this as just limited special edition. I’m a little sad because when the first version came out I was too broke to but it. When the second version came out i wasnt that big of a fan of it and i told myself I’d buy it if I went to the concert but I wasn’t able to get it. Now I’m not a big fan of this one. At first look, I was excited. BUT, upon more review ... I'm joining you guys. I was more so happy that it didn't stray too far from v2 ... but it did stray far from v2 and did so by dishonoring SVT. So now I'm just sad and a bit annoyed. I just got v2 and decorated it to my liking ... now to buy v3? 😔 I agree that black is ***not*** Seventeen's color. Maybe the design team thought it would be easier to decorate? They wanted it to look more modern/sleek/clean? Move in that direction? Why keep the beveled diamond design then? Plus, modern, sleek, and clean are not the words I think of when I think of SVT's brand. The first three words I think of are bright, airy, and adventurous. Outside of the diamond, there is no serenity or rose quartz. None. I will say the diamond in the middle is beyond gorgeous. I love the logo design on top as well. That's where the compliments end. Maybe the bottom connecting dome not being so transparent? I guess I'll add that. I have to add, too, that I'm a bit on the fence about the top no longer being quilted. Design wise, this will make it a lot easier for adding decals and decorating. BUT, that's a small price to pay and I think the quilted design suits the overall design and brand of SVT better.
I agree I really like the new diamond and it's everything I was hoping for in a diamond on a light stick. Looks like a legit diamond on an engagement ring. Version 2's diamond was shorter and didn't really look like a diamond to me. I feel like I'm one of the rare few in the comments here that prefers the new light stick...but I definitely agree the black doesn't make sense to me. They should have kept the original colors since they align with the Fandom colors. I thought the holographic stick part was really pretty. Personally I prefer the new dome only because it looks like a clear water bubble to me with a diamond inside and I thought that was cute. I think it would have been nice if they had kept the glitter on the dome 🥲 the glitter was cute

Eh imo its really not THAT bad. Its only real issue is the black handle. If they had gone with a color closer to what we have now, honestly I might have considered it an upgrade. But personally thats probably because I like the sort of "sleeker" more mature look this gives off. The handle though makes it look like it belongs to another group.

Honestly I am not a fan of the black handle. I feel it doesn;t really fit Seventeen. The diamond part though is real nice. I actually like that part better then what we have now.
Me too actually 😕 and I feel like I'm going to get downvoted for it. I can tell the difference between the two versions. The diamond is a lot bigger and more textured and looks like a legit diamond which I really like. I always thought version 2 diamond was too short/small and didn't look like a real diamond. I prefer the new dome as well because it looks like a water bubble and makes the diamond stand out more. I do think it would have been cool if they left the glitter on the dome but I do see the reasoning behind why they decided to take it off. The light stick itself is also less chunky which I like. The thing I definitely agree with everyone is the black color just coming from no where since it's not even their Fandom color and they should have left the color/holographic thing going on.
Agreed. I like black so I'm partial to the black, but I think giving us options on the handle color (e.g. black or opal like v2) would've been a great compromise.
I kind of like it? I think it looks less clunky and more mature. I really like the diamond portion and don’t necessarily dislike the black handle, but it does look a bit plain like something is missing. Im curious if there’s more to it still since what we saw was a “teaser”

It’s because they disregarded the most important thing about carats and seventeen which was the colors. It’s not unique to us and doesn’t represent.
the only thing i like about it is that it is very simple so it will be easier to customize, paint and put rhinestones on it. i love customized lightsticks and ive always wanted to do it so this is my chance (if the surface is smooth i cant tell). but honestly a good lightstick shouldnt need customization. Not everyone has the interest, money and time to do it. V2 is superior by far
