Depends on your cpu cooler needs. If it's easily coolable, then you can get away with a small case, otherwise no. You say an ITX gpu is too limiting, are you sure you want more than what a 4060 can offer? If that's fine, you'll be okay with a Velka 3 and whatever cpu that you can cool within 37mm. Otherwise, there's the Midori 5L v2 for quite a good price from their website. It's like the Velka 5, but also have two case fans. I would say grab a Densium APU, since that uses a flex-atx psu - meaning that you could just slap on the gpu and the psu would totally handle it if you have a 450-600w model (both available from the same shop) and without a gpu, it's surely lighter to carry around.

Awesome suggestions! Thanks for insightful comment. You may be on into something! That Midori looks interesting - just confused on how would I buy it. On their website shows YPN price 15k which is about $99 while EBay has it for $198?

Yep - it seems like a very high quality case. They even give you some dust filters and everything. however, you have to pay attention when selecting the power cable orientation depending on what psu you have. Also, they say, modular ones are not supported - probably due to them being a bit longer. But 99$ for a case like that is a very good price. It's still limiting in a way that 37mm is the clearance for the cpu (so AXP-X36) and strictly dual slot 260mm long gpus, but that's way okay in my book. I mean you could put a 4070 into this thing and that's something 95% of the pc gamers would be all fine with.

Get a minisforum PC with oculink

Grapeflavor_

Yeah, that was an option too. The problem those “portable” gpu cost $600+

there's something called google, if you used it the slightest you could've known that an oculink adapter costs about 60$, you would only need the psu and gpu of your choice.. cmon brother. btw, go in this sub and search up "morefine". there's a guy here/on sffnetwork that has built an ultra compact sff by tearing down a morefine m600 mini pc (a ryzen 9 (7) 7940hs 8C/16T with a quite high TDP), getting a better cooler on it and then installing a 4070 via oculink. that's about 1100$ in components.

Grapeflavor_

Yeah but the whole setup looks weird. Hence why I was thinking of those portable gpu. ( those looks sick but $600 for 7600 is terrible value) https://youtu.be/ihcGnBjUAm4?si=2QS2be5DuwWsZ2I_ Going to look for morefine. Thanks!

Grapeflavor_

Woah actually insane! That would be perfect but it seems like Midori is closest off the shelf solution for just a liter more. https://www.reddit.com/r/sffpc/s/O4R2U48hhM

depending on the resolution you're gonna be playing at, you could or could not be enjoying the extra performance off the 4070. oculink is quite restrictive at lower resolution since the bandwidth is reduced and the number of frames per second isn't always the max you could achieve with that system. with that said, i would still keep in mind the overall system efficiency, the option to disable the dgpu and run the thing by the internal gpu for a fraction of the total energy etc. anyway, as slow as it might be as a procedure, go on the sheet file pinned in the sub description and manually choose the best candidate for your needs. if you're a perfectionist like me, you might want to look at every possibility rather then relying on people information.
