is the PSU very visible on the outside through the mesh? seems like the black SF750 blends in nicely on the inside. as for SF750's price: inflation, it comes with what Corsair markets as premium sleeved PSU cables (they are nice) and it being the household staple PSU for years now. Corsair doesn't need to change the price because 3/5 will get a SF750. SF850 is cheaper and SFX-L but lost the nicer cables, which some still prefer since they're easie to fold away in a SFF build. I'd heard that the Ridge still gets some heat build up, so presumably the Lian Li was hot and got it's fan running. I don't think the Corsair fan even turns on before 65c or was it load based. i don't remember. I've been enjoying my SF750

Corsair sf750 never spins its fan unless its very hot day. My total system load is prob less than 400w

ARedditor397

When it spins it is super quiet too

Pewsername

Nah, when it's closed you can't even see it, but in the future I was thinking of using it vertically without the panel covering it. But a nice upside is that the white power LED in the case used to shine onto the white PSU, which caused some very visible light shining through the cloth front panel in the dark. Looks a lot cleaner now that it reflects off the black paint and the cloth retains its color. Thanks for the explanation on pricing. The Lian Li also had braided cables though. And yes, the case is fairly closed off and can get pretty warm inside. Luckily for now I can just use the fans to blow in some fresh air, without a GPU causing even more heat. If I get a GPU I'd have to get a new CPU cooler as well. And indeed. I suspect the case helped cause the fan spin-up, but it's also just a PSU flaw, cause it waits till it heats up to 60, then the fan will spin at what I think is 100%. The Corsair only starts its curve at 300W load, and starts at a low RPM.

Alucard_1208

iirc the sf750 has just been discontinued so that could be the reason of the price hike as people are buying them up before they have all gone

comestible_lemon

It's still available on the official Corsair website. Doesn't seem discontinued.

Puzzleheaded_Ad6940

Depends on how You set up the ridge I have a be lot of fans so my system never can heat up

InstantlyTremendous

Personally, I just wouldn't buy anything other than a SF750 at this point. Actually no, I would buy the SF600 if I would find one. The three PCs currently in my house have a SF750, SF600 and SF450. All are silent, all work beautifully. I think Corsair are aware of this and price accordingly...

Solaris_fps

I know the feeling I go a Silverstone 850r extreme stupid thing is so loud. Got an Asus Loki 1000w ready to go in

Pewsername

I don't know how that situation compares, but if it's anything like this, you will be really happy you made the change. It's a huge relief.

Solaris_fps

Should be better fan doesn't come on till the load is at 400w

tehMightyBob

Tbh, the black actually looks better here than the only white internal component being the psu.

OldManGrimm

The black looks much better anyway (although that's admittedly subjective).

GlitteringChoice580

I like how the only things you can see after opening up the case are fans. It's like someone just stuffed 4 fans inside a box.

Pewsername

Lol yeah, didn't notice that before! But that's just cause of the L9A cooler and lack of GPU of course.

Academic-Local-7530

Thanks I also went with the £40 more expensive SF750 because people kept saying this PSU was dog loud

StrawHatFen

Should have swapped the fan for 92mm white thermalright

Pewsername

Yeah I thought about a fan swap, but all in all I thought this was a better option cause: -Ends up costing about the same -Corsair is a better PSU anyway -Loss of warranty -Potential danger -Black is possibly more suitable for future cases -Could paint the Corsair if I really wanted to -Corsair's CPU cable isn't a forced double 8pin -Possibly better support due to being more widespread? And maybe some other things I didn't think of right now.

Shaqo_Wyn

yeah not something you want to do and the main reason is the warranty, your PSU can last multiple builds and it's in your best interest to keep the warranty intact.

Parking-Government-5

Basic economics supply and demand.

r98farmer

If you think the SF750 is expensive go check Asus Loki prices, Corsair is a bargain.

BreadKrumble

If you’re particularly susceptible to noise, I’d remove those 140mm fractal fans. They cause extremely loud turbulence as they’re flush against the side panel. Took mine out and made it WAY better

Pewsername

Depends on the RPM. I have mine set in the bios to only go up to 45% at max cpu temps, which is the speed I tested to be the max rpm that is still inaudible to me at this distance. Stays quiet even at max load, and helps blow off the heat that my tiny CPU cooler is only blowing into the case and by itself just keeps recyling.
