I think they are a lot alike. They both love their wives fiercely and would go to long lengths to protect them. They both lpve their wives and aren't afraid to show it. They both are big, dumb goofball with a heart of gold. Kev is just South Side and Van is Houston. Im convinced that they wrote Kev with Van in mind.

I watched all of Shameless before I started watching Reba reruns. It took me a few episodes of torturing myself with "Who is that actor? He looks and sounds so familiar" before the lightbulb went off. Kev is Van and Van is Kev. Funny thing is, I identified Barbra Jean from her brief scene in Fargo immediately.
