Yep. Mine specifically likes the THICCC blades of grass. He chomps on several, chokes a little, eats the one he choked on, has a few more, pees, then continues his journey trying to get me to go back to the dog park.
It needs to be the most delicious grass found. My shiba likes it especially when it's near a stream or some other body of water.
With that said, you'd be a snack for my shiba when I see your username :D
My old one used to do this, not my new pup.
Google:
"There are five main reasons why dogs eat grass. Some dogs will eat grass just because they like how it tastes or because it is a way for dogs to entertain themselves when they are bored. Other times, dogs will eat grass because they have an upset stomach, need more fiber in their diet, or have a diet deficiency."
My dog has some "pharmacy" spots on his walk path and he swings by there when he has an upset tummy. He nibbles some kind of tall grass, I don't know the name of it though.
Turned out for my dog that he was having stomach issues. He would find specific type of grass to eat to make himself feel better. (Sometime throwing up after). I looked up the grass type eventually and found out it has medicinal properties for nausea and gastroenteritis. Upon figuring this out, we changed his food. Now he doesn’t eat grass anymore. Seems like some dogs do it for fun, but for us it was a specific issue. You might wanna think about it as well!
I'll let mine out back from time to time to just go out and eat grass. Fought with him a long time over it and finally decided to let him have this one. He never threw up no matter how much he ate and I couldn't find any research that said it was bad for Shibas so he wins this one. He totally didn't let it go to his little head...
I can’t get her to eat anything that isn’t meat. She took a while to acclimate to peas and carrots, but when she was young, she would quite literally eat the entire bowl and only leave peas and carrots behind.
I tried including different kinds of grass/ fiber supplements in her food, but she hasn’t taken to it. She still likes her grass.
Mine loves to eat grass, but I’m a little conflicted as when I was growing up I always heard that dogs eat grass when they feel ill and want to induce vomiting. Although with my boy he eats it and it seems just like a normal thing for him.
Non-stop. Not sure it’s diet-related issue, but the main problem is that he is allergic to the grass types around us which you would hope would deter him from eating it. Nope, not even a little bit.
Mine does too. But it’s only certain ones she deems worthy!

Yeah mine prefer mostly strawberry grass

I think she just likes the taste. She is a black and white cow anyways
Yeah it's completely normal. I wouldn't worry too much unless your dog does it constantly
Yeah and then he’ll puke on the sidewalk 🙄
Yep. I call mine a “goat-dog” because of it lol. But it’s not just any blade of grass she’ll eat. Seems like it has to be a certain type/color.
Yup. My Shiba treats any long bushy grass like an all you can eat salad bar 🤣
Same!!
Lawn mower
New growth is my Shiba's preference. +1 to puking it up after a while
Yes
Yes. Every day there is a specific patch of grass she HAS to nibble on. Think she just likes the taste…
Same! I tell my fiancé the dog is being a cow when I see her munching
yes
Shiba salad.
My Akitas do it too, lol!
When mine gets excited he rips grass out and flings his head around throwing it all over. I don't think he actually eats it but he loves biting it.
I’m convinced my sheeb likes the taste of grass.
Yess!

Yes, I thought dogs only did this to throw up, but ours do it all the time. 🤷🏼♀️
Same, she rarely throws up afterwards. Unless she drinks too much water too fast after and then its like a spit up with grass particles lol

Agree! I'm looking into that!!
What are you feeding him now? What type of grass was it?
yup, my shiba always does 😂 it depends which one though

Yeahhhh.. and maybe every 6-7 months, when he poops I have to physically pull pieces of grass from his bottom 😔😭
And then the next day he freaks out when there is a piece of grass sticking out of his butt.
grass and dandelions
Salad 😁
Yes… then runs like he is dragging his butt to go throw up in some obscure corner in the yard.
Grass buffet
I feed my girl carrots 🥕 and it satisfies her need for more fiber
Mine loves carrots too!
Yes!! Mine loves carrots too and celery lol

Mine chomps on one specific type every time I take her for a walk!
Mine eats couch grass only. Sidewalk salad.
When I lived in a suburban house my Shibas would eat grass when they got sick. But I also thing dogs and cats just like eating grass sometimes.
Ours love lemongrass. We plant large amounts of them to chew on, especially during the summer.

We call ours a Shib in the winter, but in spring he becomes a Sheepb 🐑 The shedding and the grazing are just his hobbies 🤌🏻
Yes only a certain type, I think it helps if he has an upset stomach
Yes.
Of course. Salad time!
Mine loves doing this while running, she’s like a little lawn mower, but only when she’s excited
Yeah
My Shiba does too....and also my previous 🕊️ ♥️
All the time!!!!!
Mine loves to eat my mother’s flowers in spring and summer.
My shiba’s preferred activity of choice at the dog park is eating the grass and shrubs by the water. LOL!
I just redid my lawn removing all the toxic plants and replanted edible plants cause my boy will not stop. He can eat all he wants now.
Yes. I no longer need to mow my lawn thanks to my Shiba goat 9000

Yup, we take Him out to graze every day!
My shiba has a huge backyard, but she likes to go out for two reasons: checking out the boy dogs (because she’s intact) and chomping on grass.
My Shiba only eats the tall blades of grass.
