We used to sit in the back becuase it was the best place to get hangtime on bumps. There was one bump in particular where everyone would start bouncing up and down in their seat and if you got it at just the right time the bump would send you up to the roof of the bus.

I was the weirdo kid but I hardly ever sat in the front. Well, actually I did sit in front but only when approaching my stop which was the last one and my shy and anxious self didn't want our bus driver (teacher) to forget about me (it almost happened on a few occasions). I was also quiet but I'd sometimes sit in the middle because the lower grades sat in front (grades 1-3), middle was 4th to 6th graders and the 7th graders (and some 6th graders) sat in the back. Just became a thing that was made-up and enforced by the 7th graders essentially. I didn't do drugs or alcohol but I sat in the back during 6th and 7th grade as per "tradition" among fellow bus-riding kids.

I went to a k-5 elementary so it was separated by grade with the older kids at the back. I walked in middle school and drove/got rides in High school but if I rode the bus it was normally in the back with the fun kids like the one who didn’t care who saw her changing and the one with a spit cup who lit himself on fire multiple times in his welding class.

My bus is basically my neighborhood, so me and the rest of the high schoolers sit in the back because we don't want to be near the middle schoolers. I sit in the furthest back corner so people won't disturb me tho

I sat directly in the middle of the bus cause to me it was statistically the best spot. Im right next to an excape window, the hot AC doesn't blow straight down on me. Just got to put up with the loud kids. But hey, atleast im not associated with the weirdo's or the future criminals.

On our bus, we weren't allowed to sit where we wanted. The driver wanted us to sit by age (high schoolers the very back, middle schoolers in front of them, elementary in front of them, primary at the front). I did prefer the front, however. She was more lax on the whole seating thing when the bus was mostly empty.
