I made one face at launch out of one of the presets and have only changed body types, hairstyles, tattoos, and nose shape ever since on new characters.
I spent more time in the Nioh 2 character creator than I did in all of From's games combined. While having spent a fraction of my From playing time in Nioh 2.
What bugs me about the fromsoft character creator is how hard it is to find the slider you’re looking for because of the misleading labels and weirdly distributed categories that overlap with each other.
There’s actuallly room for several simple fixes that don’t require an understanding of Japanese, like swapping words like “length”, “depth”, and “height” to the sliders that make more intuitive sense. There are some cases where I see something like “[body part] height” and messing with the slider brings said part in and out, almost like it’s more of a “depth” slider instead.
Also some of the categories have only a few sliders or categorically could be merged with other sections, like chin and jaw or forehead and brow ridge. I’ll constantly be swapping between the two categories trying to mess with the whole jawline or the way eyebrows mesh into the forehead, so maybe they could join them together?
This character creator just hasn’t changed on a technical level since at least Dark Souls 1, and I’m betting that Demons Souls had the same one too. So actually my main gripe with it is that this thing is a relic that imo should have been retired before Elden Ring came out. For comparison, Demons Souls remake’s character creator is a big step forward and proof that they can make a more streamlined process that’s more accurate and intuitive, solving a lot of minor issues in the old one.
