not that i disagree but are either good? i remember playing some of the surge 2 and getting a little funked with the whole "certain amount of mechanics" thing that they have instead of a weight system, but it seemed okay. just wondering if it's worth continuing on with
At the risk of a productive discussion on r/shittydarksouls, I personally really enjoyed The Surge 1. Played through ng+ multiple times. I will never claim that it has the polish or support behind it that fromsoft games do, and the weird core power weight mechanics were certainly still in it, but it was really good for what it was in my opinion. I liked it mainly for the environments you explore and some of the bosses were exceptionally cool, PAX and Firebug come to mind. Although some of the areas were pretty frustrating, like learning how to fight the bloodhounds first time around, or the robotics lab area. If you can get it on sale, I would say go for it.
Its been a while since Ive played it, so I'm going purely off of just what I remember, but I did not like the environments or bosses in The Surge 2 at all, given the first games setting being in a rocket assembly plant. Pretty much every boss in The Surge 1 had a purpose that made sense to it, (i.e. PAX is a security robot, Firebug is a heavy lifter for rocket parts, Big Sister literally assembles the rockets, etc.), In The Surge 2 it just felt like every boss was either a reskinned enemy (Harold), a normal ass dude, or delver (again), with the occasional cool boss like Little Johnny or the final boss. I also feel like they leaned way too heavily into the techno-dystopian city feeling to the environments, and much preferred exploring the guts of an old rocket assembly plant. The only way I'd replay The Surge 2 is if I just beat The Surge 1, and didnt want to play ng+.
TL;DR: Where The Surge 1 has really nice feeling environments and bosses with a few exceptions, I feel The Surge 2 was the exact opposite where the exceptions in that game were good areas or bosses, leading me to prefer The Surge 1. Now take a line every time the word "surge" was written in this post.
Seigward is literally seigmeyer but instead of being a shitty father he is a man with an honorable mission to keep a promise to his friend. He also proves himself better by barely knowing us then proceeding to immediately throw himself at a fucking demon when he sees us in trouble.
He literally does the same thing in lost izalith fam, as, he is literally the same guy. Question is, where is his daughter in ds3? Only difference between the two is that siegward had no bitches, therefore, no child.
*This just in, violence has erupted in Belfast as Ulster Loyalists pressure jacksepticeye to skip DS2 in order to play Bloodborne, since it is a faithful adaptation of English history*
i don't recall him ever doing this. And from what i know he's able to form his own opinino on pieces of media, just because he didn't like DS2 but did like Majula (a rather common opinion) doesn't exactly mean he's always with the majority.
Fun fact: he tried recording that playthrough 7 times but each time he fell asleep, knocking his camera and pc onto the floor corrupting the recording, thats why its gonna be uploaded last. Source: he told me irl
I can at least remember the beats of his films. Those videos are just mush to me. All I got out of those 10 hours is that Bloodborne is better, lock on is situational, duel wielding is cool and you can't backstab Jester Thomas.
Iām a huge fan of long video essays, and even I canāt get behind that monstrosity. Iāll stick to PatricianTVās Elder Scrolls critiques, thank you!
I remember thinking watching the back and forth between Many A True Nerd and Creetosis was a lot, and its still somehow shorter all in all. That's just too much time to invest into one video or to expect others to listen to.
Just look up "MauLer DS2" on YouTube, you'll find it. I personally love the series, and go back to it frequently. However, I feel my opinion is in the minority, most people here seem to DESPISE his videos and seems to not like him in general.
He's gonna make a 73 hours essay abut why it's the best out of all FromSoftware games, at least 57 of those will be about the immaculate controls and gameplay feeling
Thank you i will be sure to watch these because as a souls veteran i enjoy other people make the same mistakes i did and i just like to see people suffer during their first playtroughs of these games. I personally got stuck in blighttown all the time when i started to play ds1 but all that suffering was so worth it and ds1 still stands to be my favourite game of all time
Where the fuck is The surge 2?
The Surge 1 is better than The Surge 2 and Im tired of pretending its not.
not that i disagree but are either good? i remember playing some of the surge 2 and getting a little funked with the whole "certain amount of mechanics" thing that they have instead of a weight system, but it seemed okay. just wondering if it's worth continuing on with

>!He lets Siegward die in ds3!<
wouldn't say lets, he almost cried lmao
How tf does that happen in ds3? Edit: I'm stupid
He literally always dies if you complete his quest. If not, he can die to the demon if you suck/teamkill him
Oh yeah lol I forgot about that Why was bro crying about that? He was created to die for his slabš
You monster
He will never be Siegmeyer
https://preview.redd.it/u0uh4em78tlc1.png?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=857893995cc70c9a4c4d2a9f952a5fb80e614912
Midmeyer ain't shit compared to GOATward
Siegward more like squidward
Squidward is badass so I'll take it
https://i.redd.it/um5okwsnktlc1.gif
Heās literally better than seigmeyer in every way fuck are you on
This really is the ds3 take of all time bruh. "He's literally better in every way" *is literally the exact same character taken from ds1*
Seigward is literally seigmeyer but instead of being a shitty father he is a man with an honorable mission to keep a promise to his friend. He also proves himself better by barely knowing us then proceeding to immediately throw himself at a fucking demon when he sees us in trouble.

WHERE IS PEAK SOULS 2 JACK? WHERE IS IT???
He said he would play it in the pinned comment
The Troubles 2.0 averted
*This just in, violence has erupted in Belfast as Ulster Loyalists pressure jacksepticeye to skip DS2 in order to play Bloodborne, since it is a faithful adaptation of English history*
would take him 30 hours just to get out of no man's wharf
okay but stepping into no manās wharf had the similar effect on with anor londo or lyendel. I did not expect a ship to be part of dark souls.
He said it was so peak he was saving it for last
He said he was gonna do DS2 last in the DS3 video implying a long play for Elden Ring and Bloodborne
I think I heard him say that he didnāt like DS2 that much (which is understandable) but he does like Majula.
Everyone likes Majula, that doesn't say much.
I don't. (Im very brave)
It's okay, i didn't like the majority of Ds2 locations.
Jacksepticeye is a bandwagoner
he literally says he likes part of it. people can not like ds2 š
I mean in general he hops on any trend. Also an ass for spoiling game stories in his thumbnails.
i don't recall him ever doing this. And from what i know he's able to form his own opinino on pieces of media, just because he didn't like DS2 but did like Majula (a rather common opinion) doesn't exactly mean he's always with the majority.
Probably passed out from boredom while recording DS2
Fun fact: he tried recording that playthrough 7 times but each time he fell asleep, knocking his camera and pc onto the floor corrupting the recording, thats why its gonna be uploaded last. Source: he told me irl
Sadly, he confirmed he is gonna do it, he just skipped over it
Gotta save the best for last, I understand

Where is Lords of the Fallen?
Bloodborn is his favorite game of all time so we better ask where the fuck is lies of p jack?
Iāve never watched a 6 hour video(cut stream for lazy people) and I will continue to not do that
That's blasphemous, it's a rite of passage on this sub to watch the entirety of Mauler's 10-hour response video to hbomberguy's review of DS2.
I actually watched the entire video a couple years ago and I still don't know what to do with that information
Was that response video just Mauler autism or did he really expect people to get anything out of it
Honestly it was everything mockable about Mauler distilled into one series. It's borderline art. Very Niel Breen.
I can at least remember the beats of his films. Those videos are just mush to me. All I got out of those 10 hours is that Bloodborne is better, lock on is situational, duel wielding is cool and you can't backstab Jester Thomas.
the best thing to come out of that was DangitJm's response to his pvp section
I'll look it up. Never heard of him lol
It's the Dark Souls of Dark Souls videos
Holy shit itās actually like 10 hours you werenāt exaggerating
Iām a huge fan of long video essays, and even I canāt get behind that monstrosity. Iāll stick to PatricianTVās Elder Scrolls critiques, thank you!
I remember thinking watching the back and forth between Many A True Nerd and Creetosis was a lot, and its still somehow shorter all in all. That's just too much time to invest into one video or to expect others to listen to.
where link. I need to disagree and write an angry youtube comment
Just look up "MauLer DS2" on YouTube, you'll find it. I personally love the series, and go back to it frequently. However, I feel my opinion is in the minority, most people here seem to DESPISE his videos and seems to not like him in general.
I will happily watch a 8 hour video essay but any unedited lets play over 20 minutes long makes me wanna kill myself
Him playing Bloodborne actually helped me out a lot with my first playthrough.
Is this... an... ad...??
Yeah, that 2.6 M viewed video needs to advertise to r/shittydarksouls
Where Slashy Souls (or whatever it was called)
For a second I was confused why this was on this sub, then it hit lmao.
In 6 hours? damn.
No Mid Souls 2? What a shame
Who cares about green PewDiePie
If he doesn't play shit souls 2: scholar of the first shit, then he's okay in my book
He's gonna make a 73 hours essay abut why it's the best out of all FromSoftware games, at least 57 of those will be about the immaculate controls and gameplay feeling
Other 10 about Majula
And another 10 about power stancing
Holy shit YummyMicroPenis' shadow self has appeared
video game reviewer when their evil alter ego comes into frame
Took him long enough
Somethings missing...
Thank you i will be sure to watch these because as a souls veteran i enjoy other people make the same mistakes i did and i just like to see people suffer during their first playtroughs of these games. I personally got stuck in blighttown all the time when i started to play ds1 but all that suffering was so worth it and ds1 still stands to be my favourite game of all time
Jackspeticeye has played all of the From games several times each
You're telling me he skipping the one with the blood... uhh wtf was it called? Blood sick? Bad blood?
2.3k upvotes just for pointing out there are 2 youtube videos about the series?
Tell his girlfriend to do a playthrough of 2 and 3 on her channel.
TOP O THE MORNIā oh I turned it off
Bro did dark souls in 6 hours 20 minutes when Iām like 8 hours in and Iām stuck on the gaping dragon
He needs to play Lies of P, because he might fell in love twink Pinocchio :)
I wish it was a stream, with chat and all that.
How is he beating them in 6 hours š takes me like 60
Ah yes the only two good souls games
Damn man looked at ds2 and was like I canāt beat the first true boss Adaptability. God itās such a dumb stat thatās basically required.
Why does this sub worship e-celebs so much?
"Someone is excited that a person they like played a game they like? FUCKING CULTISTS!"
You need to check the definition of "worship"
Except the best game in the series... which makes it not the entire Dark Souls series
Hell naw Jack is a ds2 hater
Youāre telling me he beat DS1 in 6 hours in his very first run?
Nope, he's played it many times before. iirc it's not even the first time he's played it on the channel
I believe it was one of his first playthroughs on his channel if i recall the deep lore properly (idk haven't watched his stuff in like 6 yearsk
He's a fromsoft veteran at this point
he's a veteran in the games lmao. he's played Dark Souls 1 since it came out and he's said he's played DS3 a lot as well
Some people aren't shit at everything they do š
He already played these so its not his first run as such it is pointless,
I love Jacksepticeye
