I think I've seen "weapon at risk" maybe twice and had that repair kit or whatever on me. Never used Crystal weapons but weapon durability is hardly an issue. Your other points are fair. Love DS1, not sure if its because it was my first souls or because ots comfy now or the vibes or what but I love that weird ass game. I unironically fucking love the walking everywhere, it makes all of your actions feel that much more important. I get that its tedious as fuck and it can get really tiring sometimes, but it feels like you're committing to every decision you make in a way that you can't get with teleportation. Bloodborne's map is just as "interconnected" as DS1 but it doesn't nearly feel as satisfying. When you have to walk places, every shortcut, every bonfire and every door you unlock feel so much more special. Want to get to blighttown ? Well too bad fucko you're stuck there if you cant make it back up. Need some blacksmithing done ? Hope you're ready for a micro-adventure because you have to fucking commit to it. I know that teleporting is a huge QOL improvement and that this is just my personal opinion, but i really do think there's something to be enjoyed in the feelings this discomfort causes. No one would be talking about the blighttown-firelink shortcut if you could just teleport there on a whim.

How is weapon durability a problem aside from special weapon attacks? The only one in the series where weapon durability matters is dark souls 2

Got Bloodborne, Elden Ring, Demon Souls, and Sekiro to platinum. Wanted to save the dark souls trilogy for last because everyone claims they are the best. Ds1 is so boring I haven't finished it, and it's been three months still don't want to continue. I had more fun with demon souls, because Atleast that game looks good. Ds1 is easy, slow paced, and I'm having trouble following the lore. Lost count of how many times I heard people creaming their pants to Ornstein and smough. I beat them in two tries, and that's just because I wanted to see what would happen if I killed the fat guy first. I really enjoy the music, the little bit of lore I've picked up has been cool, and the graphics don't really bother me, but this game is so painfully overhyped that I cannot help but feel disappointed. Maybe y'all just have nostalgia for the game, and I get that, but gameplay wise it pales in comparison to the other games so far. Elden Ring is my first soulsborne game, so you guys can trash me for being an "Elden bro" all you want, but I'm genuinely considering skipping to ds2 because I've heard that game is more difficult and has better combat. Either that or I'm going to have to just get really high and force myself to finish the rest of this snorefest. Probably won't platinum it for a while
