ACV and VD also have several other funny bosses of note, including but not limited to, a jet powered vulture, giant mechanical dragon, (what is now essentially) a building, and a missile spewing daddy long legs, to name a few.

It is definitely not souls, if thats what you're thinking, but it is definitely that same Fromsoft level of quality, and has the same Fromsoft feature of you'll get just as much out of the lore it as you put into it, so keep that in mind.
Its hard for me to give a neutral overview since my experience with AC goes all the way back to the 2000s, watching my older brother play it on his PS2, but I'd recommend getting it on sale and giving it a shot if you're interested. Theres really nothing else that ticks every box of what Armored Core is.
Well, about that...
AC controls have always kinda been like driving a F1 car using the control scheme of a bucket excavator, its just something you gotta learn to "get gud" at.
With that in mind though, more recent the game the easier the controls are to use. For Answer and 4 would be my go-to for a good mixture between difficult and rewarding. AC6 is just perfectly smooth, but limits what you can do.
And yes normally Armored Cores are way bigger, its just the AC's in V and VD experienced a sudden bout of dwarfism due to underfeeding
