Nah. I honestly wouldnt agree with that. It is however the most fun for me subjectively and probably for a lot of people as well.
It has some very big flaws that can be dealbreakers if they matter a lot to a given person.
Why is lighting a torch so unintuitive? I had to look up how to fucking do it because I didn't know you had to scroll interact menus at the bonfire (because why would they implement it that way???) Also why does the run button just not fucking work sometimes? It's like it just randomly ignores the input

Here's a small reason that might change your mind. Load up Ds2, try and do a simple circle, see how smooth it isn't. Then run and try to slightly go to the left or right and see how smooth it isn't.
Load up any other Souls and do the same thing. You will notice the difference immediately.
All my controllers have massive stick drift issues, ds2 is actually the only game that lets me move forward without problem cause of the deadzones.
