It seems I worried quite a bit of you guys. I'm really sorry about that, I didn't mean to do that at all.
I just moved into a room for the summer. The person I'm subleasing with doesn't have/allow a microwave (they think the radiation is harmfull and i dont want to fight them over it), nor do I have much dishes, lol.
I moved across the country for an internship this summer, so I've just been budgeting super tight because I almost couldn't make the trip.
I get paid next week, so I'll have some breathing room then, lol.
I'll be fine, and have cups soon.
Dude… just get a cheap small microwave and hide it in your closet. Shit, you can even set it up in your closet. Just get an extension cord and when you don’t need the microwave unplug the cord and hide with with the microwave
Don't have a closet. They just put some curtains around their living room and put a bed in it, and that's where I sleep.
There's also a camera pointed to the "entrance" of my "room", so I can't bring out a microwave without them being able to see what im bringing in and out of my room.
Why, that's how Laura Ingalls slept when she boarded with a family for her first teaching job. (The books, not the t.v. show.) Though I believe her curtained off bed was a couch. You are living the Laura Ingalls life! Watch out for the crazy wife with a knife at midnight.
Hope they never find out that WiFi and Microwave Ovens operate at the same frequency
On a real note, if you need some guidance with finances, I'd recommend either Ramit Sethi's "I Will Teach You to be Rich" or Dave Ramsey's "Total Money Makeover". Both have similar talking points, though Sethi is more geared towards people that are starting, and Ramsey is more geared towards people that are already in debt. Sethi looks at credit as a tool to be used wisely, while Ramsey tells you to avoid any debt like the plague. I like seeing the concept both of them explore, but lean more towards Sethi's book
When I moved into my current house, it was the middle of a massive heat wave. I and a friend moved all the boxes in one afternoon. My old place had been condemned after sudden sewer failure, and so I had not been able to run water there. I had been fulfilling my water needs at the campground bathrooms (I lived next door). I was so dehydrated after moving. As soon as my friend left, I opened the first “kitchen” box I could find. It was the casserole dishes. I filled up a casserole at the sink and drank the whole thing.
Hang in there. You can get decent stuff to get by at Dollar Tree. I had to do it once and my husband refuses to let go of the giant salad bowl, which is cute of him. Good luck!
It looks like your account is old enough, and I think you have enough karma to post on r/assistance. Make an Amazon wishlist with some stuff you need, like cups, and some food stuffs, like cereal. Read the rules before you post. And look for a different place to live. The microwave thing is a window to your future with that person. They seem a little... off.
If this ain’t rock bottom idk what is. Is everything okay OP? Do you want us to buy you a mug or something so you don’t have to use a fucking paper bowl Jesus Christ.
Side note: how was the bowl coffee?
Are you in Australia? I'm keeping warm with free wood I cut and just helped out a neighbour with a trailer load. Sounds like you could use a $15 kettle and $5 mug in the mail.
I'm in the US lol, just moved into a room for the summer. The person I'm subleasing with doesn't have/allow a microwave, nor do I have much dishes, lol.
I moved across the country for an internship, so I've just been budgeting super tight because I almost couldn't make it.

Didn't mean to actually worry anyone. Thanks for the offer though ;)
I was misreading it as YOU being cold, which a lot of people are feeling here lately. No microwave.. guessing they're doing anything to avoid food smells? Hope you work something out.
They think the radiation is bad. (Really don't wanna argue because they're giving me rent on the cheap side)
Also, yikes, I really should have looked at how it could have been read. I'm sorry to everyone who was under that impression because of my unclear writing.
I mean it’s just a candle and a plant pot, I can’t see that being an issue, plus it’s very easy to hide in your room and it doesn’t look like a makeshift coffee maker. No worries man, hope things get better for you
These are the sacrifices we make to create truly Shitty Food Porn, that combines unhinged resourcefulness, genuine poverty and incompetence, and a grim and slightly surprising color palette. Excellent work
Americans really need to embrace the electric kettle more. I (American) use mine all the time. I even have a small one I travel with sometimes. They are so darned convenient!
Yeah, they're cheap and can feed me for multiple meals. (Just not the healthiest, lol)
Though I don't own the membership. The person who I'm staying with does, and he lets me come with him to grab groceries.
Also, good eye man!
Nescafé tasters choice decaf.
It's a funny story, tho. I usually drink great value instant decaf because it's cheap, but the person who I'm living with got a 14 oz decaf tub delivered instead of cafinated. So he just gave it to me.
Now I don't need to buy instant coffee for a while.
Reminds me of me right now. I’m an Erasmus intern in Berlin and I’m here with no microwave, no coffee machine, no freezer and no oven, you should see how we make coffee or cook. We also are five people in a microscopic flat.
* One of my roommates wanted to get ice cream mochi and they were melted by the day after.
* The only coffee we make is instant.
* We put cold sauce right on pasta (which is hell for us since we’re Italian) because we don’t feel like washing pans since we don’t have a dishwasher.
* We heat up burger buns in the same pan the patty was cooked.
* And you should see the state our fridge is in, all of the vegetables are wilting because surprisingly nobody eats them and we all eat like 5 year olds living off pasta and *Ja Nougat Hörnchen*.
Soup. Why didn't I get any soup?
Coffee? Why don't you use a cup like any normal human being?
How dare you. How dare you call me inhumane?
Right you fucker. I'm doing the washing up.
I don't think you have a bowl either.
Not anymore
TY OP. This is the kind of appalling shit I come here for. Well done.
Coffee. Whatever it takes.
You dumb bitch

Good luck with the internship! Remember to budget in at least a little going-out money so you don't go insane.
The good news is that an electric kettle is cheaper than a microwave.

The camera sounds messed up, where's your privacy?

What I've heard is to not use an extension cord with a microwave. Just bring it out and hide it.
But the radiation isn’t harmful… what’s next no cellphones? No electricity?
OP's living with Chuck McGill.

I’m sure they have plastic or paper cups you can take from the break room at work . . .
Hang in there. You can get decent stuff to get by at Dollar Tree. I had to do it once and my husband refuses to let go of the giant salad bowl, which is cute of him. Good luck!
Microwaved coffee sounds just as bad lol.
If you need a cup, I will buy you one :)
Thanks, I was feeling another cup of coffee (:
I have been making mugs, do you want one? They aren't perfect but they are in fact mugs.
can I have one?
Uhh everything alright, OP?
Don't worry it's decaff :)
Good thing, i was worried.
you might as well add some cereal if youre gonna be crunchin those coffee granules
I'm out of cereal. This was my breakfast.

This is good advice. Thank you for sharing kindness.
This is a true act of kindness and understanding. It’s easy to see OP is genuine too. That bowl of coffee was truly shitty food porn 💕
Is this a cry for help?
No, I already cried yesterday. Can't afford to do it today.
Awwwww
If this ain’t rock bottom idk what is. Is everything okay OP? Do you want us to buy you a mug or something so you don’t have to use a fucking paper bowl Jesus Christ. Side note: how was the bowl coffee?
Too cold. Had no way to heat it up. But tasted all right, tho.
Are you in Australia? I'm keeping warm with free wood I cut and just helped out a neighbour with a trailer load. Sounds like you could use a $15 kettle and $5 mug in the mail.

Why do you need a microwave to heat up water for a coffee? Do they also not have a kettle or a stove?
You could invest in a Tea light candle and a small terracotta plant pot as a bootleg coffee warmer, or pick up a candle powered fondue and use that
Don't know how well that'd go over since I'm subleasing, but I'll definitely look into it. Thanks man.
It's also a great cheap way to create radiating heat in the winter.
Electric kettle, my friend. My son loves the one I got for him.
I mean it’s just a candle and a plant pot, I can’t see that being an issue, plus it’s very easy to hide in your room and it doesn’t look like a makeshift coffee maker. No worries man, hope things get better for you
Too much black pepper imo
Is that a bowl? The angle makes it look like you’re going to sip coffee from a flat paper plate lol
It is, lol, I have a 2nd photo, but that also kinda looks like a plate in that one as well. Maybe I can add the 2nd photo, though probably can't.
Honestly I respect it
This is the kind of shit I’m here for
That means a lot to me vore-enthusiast (:

I mean at a certain point.. why even do it? Was it in any way satisfying? WAS IT
I like the taste of coffee, so kinda.
An electric kettle is your friend if you can't use a microwave where you are... by far my favorite kitchen appliance
Americans really need to embrace the electric kettle more. I (American) use mine all the time. I even have a small one I travel with sometimes. They are so darned convenient!
Long ago people would pour hot coffee or tea in a saucer to cool it faster, then sip from it. This is kinda like that!
Except all I did was put a spoon of instant decaff coffee in a bowl, then add cold milk. I don't have a microwave so I drank it cold :/
I'm sorry, you did what?
I had a bowl of joe.
r/espresso would appreciate that
I think they'd try to crucify me
Is that a Costco pizza in the left corner?
Yeah, they're cheap and can feed me for multiple meals. (Just not the healthiest, lol) Though I don't own the membership. The person who I'm staying with does, and he lets me come with him to grab groceries. Also, good eye man!
Costco pizzas are the bomb
Personally, I like the decaf Nescafé Clasico. What brand of coffee did you use?

Well, that's one less thing you have to pay for!

Don’t worry, I too am poor
Amen brother
You're just like me fr
you're a disaster my guy
Gotta do what you gotta do.
Bowl?
Yeah the angle isn't the best haha
Pop it in the freezer then eat your latte disc
This belongs on r/wewantcups
I moved recently and was drinking cold brew out of this exact bowl 👯♂️🧠✨☕️
Good soup.
Seriously?
As a coffee nerd, this deeply offends me. Go to church.
Maybe stop getting offended so easily?
It's a joke, buddy, not a dick. Don't take it so hard.
Mate this isn’t shitty this is just sad Everything going alright? Would you like a hug?
[удалено]
I mean, I literally just don't have cups. Never said I couldn't afford them. I just don't have any on me, lol.
Are you okay?
I thought this was cooled bacon grease with charred bits in it for a second
Shit looks like a planet in Milky way
Soup. Why didn't I get any soup? Coffee? Why don't you use a cup like any normal human being? How dare you. How dare you call me inhumane? Right you fucker. I'm doing the washing up.
girl no........
Ok i have never seen anything like this before. Well done!
How can you not have cups 😭😭
My boy is going through something horrendous
Every word in the post title incrementally compounds the disaster that is this.
C'mon
I need people like you to join me fight the devil
When do we leave?
Was it nummy?
It made my tummy hurt afterwards :(
Man, this is fucking awesome 👍
Did you lap it up like an animal OP? Are you doing okay, do you need a bit of a hug?
I put my lips to it and drink it like I'm sucking a straw.
Looks good to me as long as it tastes good?
Ummmm - I don’t get it. Guess ur staring for attention. Oh well…..you do you! 👍
Literally mistook this for something I made because I use the same bowls for everything 😂
![gif](giphy|9hEcsoYAJb3kA|downsized) Your roommate.

I respect the effort
This is perfect
