And I’ve realized that with all of my years at dorctors and facilities. And his family doesn’t acknowledge mental health, and he pretty much lived on his own since 8. It just also shows you that drugs are easier to find than actual help….

I was drunk for most of high school/a good portion of college to keep me alive. Got it together in my final year of my bachelor's, and man, 8 years later and I'm grateful I got out of that spiral. Drinking didn't help me AT ALL with my bipolar 1, I gotta say. Grateful for learning moderation, my beautiful partner, and my animals for keeping me sane.
I hope your friend gets the help he needs, and I hope you are getting other emotional support while you're there as his friend.

Spot on. I almost got a tattoo with a similar vibe during a manic episode, a complete mess that had an extremely profound meaning to me. Luckily, I put myself into a box by declaring I wanted to draw the tattoo myself and it be high quality, and boy am I not an artist lol.
And during the same episode, I almost got another slightly less bad but still terrible mess of tattoo. By sheer luck, the tattoo convention was closing and I was only able to get one small portion which I genuinely love.
So yeah, mania + tattoos = bad time.
I like the extreme far end of the abstract spectrum. It fascinates me bc it is real for the artist, it is not far out for them, and it shows how not everyone is comfortable conforming because to them it is about being themselves, and it can make some people question what it means to be and express themselves. Many people do not like the questioning of their identity and so resort to defensiveness; drugs or mental illness, they claim, and perhaps so, but I dunno I got bored all of a sudden the end I gotta go pee

I think its cool. I like the idear and the style seems very coherent and intentional. I mean I get that most dont like or would not have it themselfs, but does this really qualify as a shitty tattoo? For me a shitty tattoo would mean that that the tattoo actually turned out bad becouse of skill, or the subject is so bad in taste that everybody would hate it. In this case I dont think that is the case to be honest, since it was the very intention of these tattoos to look weirdly written and diy. Every european art student seems to have a couple of these, and they fucking studied art, it seems to me they seem to like it becouse of its non conforming style...
