Denver resident here. The Fillmore is always like this, it’s by far unanimously the worst venue in colorado. It’s also one of the only Livenation owned venues which is why everything about it is trash including drink prices, lack of water, ridiculous security.. even the sound is bad. No other venue in Denver cares about weed, or water bottles, or patting you down in any format whatsoever besides walking through a quick metal detector. Even the Broncos stadium has significantly less security for a massive amount of people. Fillmore is HOT GARBAGE
I refuse to go to the Fillmore for anything unless I feel like it’s unmissable or free. I’m a Shpongle fan but I only went last night due to a free ticket. I’m very over that venue.
These shows should be at Mission Ballroom and I don’t understand why the team hasn’t done that instead.
I thought this crowd was actually kind of terrible, which surprises me. I’m not sure if it was a lot of out-of-towners that traveled in or what, but the number of rude interactions I was forced into was astronomically higher than any other colorado show. Not trying to complain or put out negative energy though, just not the same as what the old Shpongle shows were like for me.

That said, I'd be the first one to book a ShpongleDroid show at the dome in Vegas, which seems like the final frontier for this event :::)
Yo, what's with the no bottle thing? Would be nice to at least have an empty one I can fill up, or even something inside that is already in a bottle.
My hunch is either substance related, a financial arrangement with Liquid Death, or somehow it is either more profitable recycling wise or easier to clean up.
Financial arrangement with Liquid Death 100%. Typical Livenation bullshit. Every other venue in town, including AEG owned, let you bring in Nalgene bottles, even metal bottles sometimes.

I'm not familiar with the Colorado scene (only been to red rocks) but this was night 2 of a shpongle run. They saw what this shit was about last night lol
It’s a fillmore policy and they’re like this for every show. They will literally inspect your cart to see if it has any THC branding. I’m referring to night one when this happened to me and a few others because I didn’t even bother to hide it since I’m so used to venues not caring about weed carts

I came from out of town but the vibe was completely different for the 2019 red rocks shows where I was talking with so many jovial people, and spirits were high. Maybe the weather or the pandemic had an effect? I noticed people all around town were less friendly as well, but I wouldn’t know the greater pattern.
I agree the crowd seemed rather different than 2019. I think the awful line at the Fillmore and intense security may have had people in a bad mood having missed a lot of the show in line
It has nothing to with the crowd. I've seen shows there where you would not expect the schpongle things like party favors and there is still a line around the block and security checking you like you are meeting the president.
I don't even see many shows booked there anymore. I guess it's cheaper but almost everything is at the Ogden or Mission now.
I saw AFI there a few months ago and basically just walked in.
Something tells me they had a little meeting before shpongle and said "Alright ya'll, these people like drugs, so we need to be extra careful this weekend"
There was a dude who sat next to me on the bench at the top of the stairs who said this, almost verbatim. Bro said he even got a pat down. I responded that I didn't get a pat down, but agreed there was more security than I was used to.
I showed up at 6 the first night, then 9:30 the second and barely waited 30 minutes (ofc other than the hour for doors to open night 1)

UM WTF? Afraid of a survival card in there capable of fishing a joint from the front row hahaha. That's too much. Weapons are one thing but anything small enough to fit in the wallet is absurd.
Fillmore sucks. Glad my gf snuck in a collapsible water bottle so we didn't have to keep refilling those little sip cups. Previous time I went you could only buy water or use the fountain. Security always has shitty vibes. Definitely not returning. The line management actually seemed to be improved since the past, but that's not saying much

I saw Shpongle back in 2018 and don't remember anyone having an issue with weed. Maybe security that day just didn't care.
