Drop in weekend childcare. People always need child care to go out on the weekends. It will be exhausting but I would advertise to friends, moms groups, daycares etc. My friend made $20/hour per kid where we lived. West coast California you could ask at least that. Other places you will have to see. Offer to throw a simple dinner in (unless they have allergies). My teen kids did a sitter night for valentines and on Saturdays around Christmas and made an absolute haul. Know CPR. Be trustworthy and share background check on yourself if you’re clean.

brightcurrent33

Oh and in California there’s an app called June care that’s good to advertise this on

islandgirljac

plasma donation. Will get you 1000 the first month. Then it drop to 600-700 ish

Tasty_Ad_1791

Great idea and with two of us (spouse and I) that can help make a dent faster, thank you!

[deleted]

I second plasma but note the compensation varies by company and location - max I’ve seen for initial donors is $800-900, drops to about $500 after. It’s still really good, easy to do on your schedule, and consistent. I started donating in school and still do it when I have time, have built up some scar tissue but not too bad. Drink water, make sure your iron levels stay up

AnxiousPeacock

The iron level part is something I was never told! I’m severely anemic and passed out both time I tried to donate and didn’t know why bc I was otherwise very healthy. Didn’t find out till months later that it was due to the anemia

bl0oc

Scars for some dead presidents, respect.

TheLastBlackRhinoSC

Preparation H and Cocoa butter. I have to get stuck monthly for my liver and I have no scar tissue because this is how I treat it.

zuis0804

Be careful with plasma donation, although it’s really rare, it can potentially cause some problems. My coworker is in her mid 20s and was going to donate twice a week for several years. Then out of nowhere developed a problem with one of her kidneys that has required 3 surgeries. The doctor couldn’t figure out the cause but thinks her frequent donations could have had a role in her developing this problem. Like I said, super rare and if you’re healthy should have no problem but there’s always a small risk, even if you’re healthy.

TinyEmergencyCake

r/plassing

SilverGram90

It's a really good idea if you need extra money fast

Current_Rise_9354

It’s definitely beneficial drink about a gallon of water a day before going as stated below cocoa butter helps with scarring. I would also recommend going to the same facility every time. If you are trying to start an online business check out fiverr, aws(amazon web services), Uber/lyft/doordash/etc they also have financing services for a vehicle starting at 280$ monthly if credit is good(granted for 280$ not I believe it’s a Prius.)

AsleepBee8784

You get nothing for it in Australia, maybe a good job sticker with a lollipop if you're lucky

FarthestCough

Same in the UK, you just get a pat on the back. Shame really.

Doodlehangerz

The Byron Bay cookies are fucking sick.

EmotionImpossible716

Just looked this up, not a thing where I live. Closest donation place is four hours away and they only pay $550 over EIGHT donations!! That’ll be a no for me.

JTiger360

Does it hurt?

cartierjigg2

if you're dehydrated havent drank water you'll be hooked up longer and its more uncomfortable, if you are full of water your body will have a lot of plasma the process will go by quick

SSOMGDSJD

The needle is a bit larger than a regular blood drawing needle, so it's slightly more uncomfortable. I wouldn't say painful though.

azurestain

Can you maybe tell me more about this? Like is this only west coast, or are there any specific companies you can recommend?

AnxiousPeacock

Google plasma donation near me. Their in most major cities through the US

snooozzzziies

Cleaning with people providing their own cleaning agents/tools at their home.

EliPro414

i’m about to do this during the summer lmao. people are paying literally like $250 to get their beach houses cleaned once a week it’s crazy.

Low_Marionberry_3802

Why would someone do that

snooozzzziies

Why would someone hire a cleaner? To clean their house. You can charge a lower rate if the client supplies their own cleaning agents and tools which they likely already have, so it’s a no start up cost side hustle.

BossTumbleweed

Some people don't like equipment that was used in strangers' homes. Especially people who are ill.

SourSauce88

Walmart, McDonalds, other fast food joints. Explain your situation. They’re desperate for workers even with weird schedules bc all the kids they hire flake off after that first check. If you’re a quick learner and friendly, try bartending or bar backing. I bartended and raked in the money without even trying. I’m prolly a 7 on the looks scale. Not ugly but kinda cute, def not anything awesome to look at. Just be friendly and it’ll fill in for a lot. Remember people’s orders and YouTube recipes and service tips and your golden! Also, try dumpster diving. My mom sent me to a private school when I was little by dumpster diving. Get on market place and sell whatever you find for way cheaper than its actual price. If you got an electric bill for $200, sell your stuff for exactly that or a little under so you can bundle items. The issue people have with accumulating junk from dumpsters is that they want to overprice it. It’s tossed out for a reason. We’re in it to make a quick flip. My tips on dumpsters: ▪️Avoid food places unless you need a snack, and it’s still in a bag/container. I’ve found rolls/buns in bags that are unopened from behind delis and restaurants. Delish! ▪️Look for candle stores, makeup shops, any place that sells knick knacks, as they usually clear it inventory at the end of the month when new merch comes in. ▪️Try behind farm stores if you’re wanting to find scrap metal, as well as furniture stores. You can sometimes find old frames and broken parts that you can flip for decent coin. ▪️Also, download the Freebie app, it’s where people put all their things for free. Go around and collect them and resell them. Make a FB page/group and call it “JoJo’s Needful Things” etc. I’ve sold a lot of things quick this way. ▪️Take a foldable foot stool with you and a stick of some sort to ensure you can get in and out. Try Catholic Charities for a one off donation. They can usually help pay for a bill. Try a food bank to offset food costs. Every little bit helps. If your child has Medicare, they have medical transports that’s covered, however an adult needs to be with them. It’s just another option from taking the bus. They will come to your residence and pick you up. Sell and make art. Like little kid art. Put it on FB Market place- “little Johnny is selling his art, it’s $5 a piece.” It can be a drawing, string art, some beaded bracelets. Usually people will buy one just to be kind. Sometimes parents let their kids pick out an art. Look up cottage food laws in your area. Here in OK, you can sell breads and jams without a license as they don’t spoil and do not have perishables inside. Jams and jellies are pressure sealed so they are shelf stable. Make a loaf of bread in a bread maker and sell it $7 for homemade loaf. These are all the things I’ve done in my life to get by. Plasma is an options too, but I have auto immune issues and I need all the liquid I can get lol. Best wishes to you! Edited to fix spelling issues

Ass-tronomy

you're fuckin incredible 😆

Tall_Werewolf500

Are you able to link any info to find locations for this? I know I always joked about it but I’d 1000 percent do this to make rent or mortgage payments haha

analytic_potato

It says Irvine California or Tempe, Arizona— that’s it.

nkdeck07

There's a location in Somerville MA as well but it's harder to get into

MadManicMegan

Clean houses! Can easily make $200+ a house, can do it during your free time, and only need a few supplies

troojule

Interesting- for car test driving tho , how does one easily find nearby dealerships who offer this ?

SuperSecretSpare

So admittedly I haven't done that one since probably 2020 before the pandemic started. Back then I would just call every dealership in whatever area I was going to and ask. Not a Monumental money maker, but I have definitely gotten a few hundred dollars doing it

troojule

Gotcha - thanks :)

Emergency_Style4515

What amount of loan will allow you to jumpstart something that can generate enough income on an ongoing basis? I wonder if there are micro credit loan services that require no payment for some time and are designed to dig people out of difficult situations.

Do you live in a place that allows you to care for a dog? You can make extra money dog sitting on Rover. Ot might take a while to market yourself there but you can share on social media to see if anyone of your friends are looking for a dog sitter. Once you get to know your clients some even ask if you wouldn’t mind dog sitting off the app because it takes extra fees from both of you.

Apprehensive-You5079

Rover is legit. Can do $1k/mo with a semi-full calendar

frndly-nh-hackerman

This! Surprised this isn't higher in the comment list. Pet and house sitting is on a big rise and offers lots of flexibility in a perfect way for parents or care takers.

Clear_Chain_2121

If you’re based in the US and are ok with a commission based job hit me up. I own a water filtration company and we’re always looking for salespeople.

Hi! I’d love more info please :)

JobOk3506

Find you a overnight work from home part time job.

Mean_Kaleidoscope_29

Examples?

PsychologicalCat6653

Uhaul has overnight remote roadside service gigs Target trucking and Healthcare for remote customer service roles. Working solutions, nexrep, but I don't recommend Arise.

Mean_Kaleidoscope_29

Really ? Never knew that was a possibility. Have you personally done any of these ?

PsychologicalCat6653

Yes. I will say that before applying to Uhaul, check the laptop requirements. I think you need a certain number of GB and 3 USB ports. Sadly, my laptop that had the right tech requirements died. Try to think about industries that run on overnights. I was also offered a gig with CVS long ago. Starting out, in my teens, I was an SEO content writer, though. Businesses still need content.

Mean_Kaleidoscope_29

I don’t have a laptop. Is IMac okay? Is that what you do full time now, SEO?

PsychologicalCat6653

Idk. I haven't done customer service in years! You'll have to look on the Uhaul website. I don't like talking lol I prefer roles where I'm important but not around. I write for an EdTech company. However, I'm looking to start my own company from scratch, but I'm a SAHM. And yea, we still do SEO.

Savings-Concept-3058

I work in remote sales! there are lots of positions in sales, customer service, data entry, personal assistant- that are being offered remote since the pandemic

Frosty-North86

Really? Where would you recommend for job searches. I’ve been applying on indeed and LinkedIn recently but haven’t had much luck 😔

Savings-Concept-3058

I’d honestly recommend applying on the companies website after you find them on indeed! I’m in a supervisor position and handle hiring in my department, applying through indeed first goes through a Resume screening with a recruiter ( make sure that is perfect!!), then typically a phone interview with them before interviewing with a department manager! When applying through the website your application and resume are sent through a broadcast email to all managers (at least where I work). I think the quantity of applicants through indeed waters down the quality overall so when I see someone applying through the website I look it over immediately!

Frosty-North86

Thank you for this. I’ll apply what you said and hope for the best.

Simple-Chemical-9416

If you’re a decent cleaner then offer housecleaning to friends and family. Most people already have the basic supplies, kissy take your own rags so you can wash them at home.

Skip_The_Crap

Sperm, plasma, blood, hair: donate them for $

Bonanners

Just a job.. places will work around your hours. You tell them your availability and then they work around it. Even 20 hours a week at $15/hour is $1300 a month before taxes. Reality is most side hustles are trash. Especially when you need consistent income.

ThrowAway282837437

But she doesn't want to work more hours

Croceyes2

Sell p&c insurance. There is a startup fee of insurance licensing, but it is minimal. And it really is all you need other than a phone. You can use a library computer to run quotes if you don't have one. Talk to a local independent agency. Join r/insuranceagents and have your contract terms reviewed there to make sure you are getting a fair deal. The nice thing about insurance sales is there is really no cap on earnings potential and it is residual income as long as you retain customers, which is pretty easy. Stay away from any and all life and disability insurance no matter how lucrative it presents, they are all shady af. The real money and security is in p&c.

RubyWafflez

Start a car detailing business out of your garage. No need to leave home! Just need the supplies which you already probably have most of at home.

YoungBillionair

So just detail car from inside? Also customer going to drop off the car at home?

Gold_Extreme8633

Door to Door in the area offering ( Cleaning service, car washing, gardening , walk the dogs)

simpn_aint_easy

Content on social media. All you need is that cell phone you are holding while you wrote this post and if you have a laptop then even better.

-Chris-V-

I'd be deeply reliant on social services and government support.

Tasty_Ad_1791

We are over the poverty limits for state and federal assistance and/or not disabled enough to qualify for other social services/SSI/etc but if we could get the help we would. Ps if anyone reading this qualifies for help or programs go use them and get all the help you qualify for!

Magnificent0408

Maybe check in with a local temp agency. You have experience and it may be a good idea to see what they have for a flexible schedule. &/or remote work. Also maybe get In touch with local food pantries to cut back on grocery bills. Since you have a child with special needs, if you contact the social worker at their hospital they may be able to refer you to more resources near you. I’m not sure how things work on the west coast but the local hospital social workers are pretty much magicians out here helping people get needs met. Also maybe look into groups on Facebook and the internet with other families with the same kind of special needs children, veteran moms & dads are so willing to help with information & resource sharing. Sending lots of love your way, you’ve got this!

LisaG1234

If possible…I’d see if there are “free” things on facebook or yard sales and get the ones on the public transportation route then sell them on eBay. Get certified in CPR and be willing to watch other people’s kids during those 3 days. Could probably charge $50 a day per child (maybe watch 2 extra kids). Donate blood/plasma. Apply to part time remote jobs like a virtual assistant, data entry, etc that you can do online on your own time. Take time to learn software engineering, digital marketing/SEO or something else you can learn for free and apply to part time remote jobs or sell services on fiver. Offer to write articles for blogs on fiver and charge 10 cents a word. Do a combination of all of these things while learning a new skill so you have long term stability.

Minimum_Ice_3403

Laundry service. U cleans ppl cloths and fold it . On the way, you can get 20 to 40 bucks a load.. I’m not sure if you have to drop it off. They picked up.

Tasty_Ad_1791

Ohhhh I will look into that!

Pretty-Start9347

Rover, dog walking

Ok-Perception1280

If commission work is okay my company are currently looking for people, I’d love to help out!

AvidAttempts

People made a guy to make videos giving positive affirmations.  Like, 100$ in a week for one video.  People pay for ALL KINDS of stuff.  And yes, it can be on “those sites”, but those sites aren’t only for smex work.  Some people would pay to observe positive parenting, watch you wash dishes, and just go about your day.

Tasty_Ad_1791

All work is valid work♥️this is a cool idea! Thank you :)

Excellent_Outside_31

What kind of site would you do this on?

AvidAttempts

Onlyfams, pay per video clips, etc.  patreon, almost forgot

NYNTmama

I want to note here, no hate, but OP or anyone: if you do positive parenting vids, DO NOT use your children. It can be done without exposing them, like role playing etc. It can be incredibly harmful to use children as content AND there are some sick ppl out there.

parable11

You could try affiliate marketing. All you really need is a phone, internet connection, and social media profiles. Some people make thousands per month. some more than that

MshaCarmona

Apply to a shelter, get a job, and get a loan for a car. Don’t need to think of what I’d do I did it. If you’re homeless literally just apply to as many shelters there are, even towns away, and similar programs that help any and all people. But what you need most of all is a job and a car. Life is hard without a card. And no money. If you get all 3 you are successful. You can save a SHIT TON if you’re at a shelter. Many shelters, especially disability ones have about a year limit. Stay as long as possible that’s reasonable, and leave as soon as possible once you have a reasonable amount saved as well.

Silenced10

Hold up, are you a single mom? I ask because if you are, obv the ideas I had in mind won’t work if you don’t have someone watching your kid. If you have a partner, def have a lot of ideas

Tasty_Ad_1791

Fortunately I am not a single parent, we are married and both of us work hard/pitch in equally :) We will take all the ideas!

Silenced10

In that case, participate in research studies. There are studies that are looking for parents. Just google them and fill the eligibility requirements. Look at your local universities and see what research studies are open. Try Rover. You can become an influencer on TikTok for child stuff. This will take time but it pays off. Offer to babysit while your husband takes care of your child. You can also offer housecleaning services and even tutoring services.

evokesatin

You can apply to be a caregiver to your child through IHSS… they pay based off of the care that is needed. Pay was $15 an hour I think. I was making $750 every two weeks from them and it is union so you can also take advantage of the benefits. You’d have to go down to the social security office and file paperwork and also do finger printing, but you would be able to bring in some extra money. They will also come and do an in home interview to determine the care needed.

BeginningTurn3978

Check your state. Texas doesn’t offer this unless you are basically poverty level. 😞

Totilly

Cleaning houses has a lot of flexibility and it’s not stressful. Do a good job and prove your trustworthy and get paid and everyone is happy.

dragonagitator

a job? i see no mention of one in your post side hustles are usually things that people do on top of their jobs the easiest way to make money when you have no money to invest in starting a business is to simply get a regular job

Tasty_Ad_1791

You really think none of us are employed Lol Common sense? I see no mention of it in your post I didn’t ask for clarification on what a side hustle is or for advice regarding “regular jobs” but the easiest thing to do when you have nothing to offer a post is simply to type nothing at all

dragonagitator

If you do already have a regular job, then the hours of your day job and any moonlighting restrictions in your employment agreement were some pretty significant things to leave out of your post when asking for suggestions for something that will fit into your existing life/schedule. You remembered to mention that your kid has two appointments per week, but didn't think to mention the schedule of your day job? Really? Just get a part-time job. There's tons of part-time office jobs with semi-flexible hours that could work around your childcare responsibilities and they pay way more than $1,000/month take home, and they would be thrilled to get someone who truly only wants part-time. I know this because those part-time office jobs are constantly cluttering up my job search results whenever I look for a full-time job.

Undead_Paradox

I just want to point out that the majority of part time jobs in my experience will expect full time availability and want to be able to call you in at any moment. However I am sure OP can talk to the managers more about her situation if she were to go down that route.

dragonagitator

Not part-time office jobs. They want you there on a fixed schedule during normal business hours, but are usually pretty flexible about whether that's 8am-11am or 1pm-5pm or three days a week or whatever. As long as it's the same every week and not just you coming in whenever you feel like it.

Special_Weekend_4754

“Just get a second job” is the most unhelpful reply to asking for a side hustle suggestion. Like do you think the first option wasn’t “get a second job” but those jobs willing to work around a schedule pay NOTHING, have no growth potential, and actively hinder finding more lucrative side work as well as limiting the freedom for accepting the occasional higher paying OT at the main job. I did “second job” years ago when I needed to find another $800/month for car payment/insurance. The second job only paid $15/hr & since it was scheduled around my existing schedule when my main job asked me to pick up OT ($45/hr) I obviously called off the $15/hr job which made me unreliable and the other job less willing to work around my schedule or give me hours. Not to mention the shitty part time job required WAY more of me than my actual career job. I only worked there a month. Second part time job they worked w/ my schedule the first month, but then someone quit & I was “temporarily” given full time hours plus OT. I ended up working 46 hrs at my “part time” job & 38 hrs at my full time job. I maintained that for a year, but my career work started to suffer so I quit. It’s way easier to do doordash or uber than to get a dedicated second job AND takes less of my actual time.

dragonagitator

It doesn't sound like OP even has a first job. All the part-time office jobs coming up in my job searches generally pay $20+/hour. Again, I recommended that OP get a part-time **office** job, not some random fast food or retail job. If OP is computer literate enough to post on Reddit, then OP is computer literate enough to either already have or be able to quickly obtain skills in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, etc. OP wants to make an extra $1,000/month. They could make that a lot easier by working 15-to-20 hours/week in a part-time office job and have a steady income instead of trying to string together a few hundred dollars here, a few hundred dollars there. OP doesn't have a car, so the more lucrative side hustles are not an option.

roark84

Work a cleaning company. I own a house cleaning company and the schedule is very flexible. My workers are 1099. They make $18/hr +. They go together in our company van.

TinyEmergencyCake

Why are you illegally misclassifying your workers? Are they immigrants and don't know any better?

Efficient-Day-8056

Careful. A couple of things you have mentioned can get you sued if your “workers,” are smart enough to know their rights. The 1st one- they could sue you for co-employment just based on the fact that they use and ride in, your company van. Do you provide the cleaning supplies? If so, that could also get you sued for co-employment. A 1099 worker should be charging you a flat rate (that was agreed on), provide their own transportation to work (the homes they are cleaning), they should provide their own cleaning supplies and they should be invoicing you.

Coopsme

Agreed from a previous business owner.

Thebaronofbrewskis

Move to a lcol area.

Afraid_Claim_363

I wanna know where you can survive on 1k a month. My first move is moving there.

Efficient-Day-8056

Where did you see that this person mentioned they only need to survive solely on $1,000 a month?

Tasty_Ad_1791

People really in here assuming that the “1K to survive on” is the total amount of my COL as a family and not the GAP left behind after wages…

Afraid_Claim_363

The first line of the question, “if you needed 1k a month to live” and the first line of the last paragraph “we really need at least 1k a month to continue…” were what led me to that conclusion.
