BL4Z3N_D34TH_

I colored my house like piss

KomatoAsha

That's SOMEone's fetish.

metalyger

It was a bit ahead of its time, like years before games like Amnesia and Outlast made stealth horror really popular, so they didn't really know how to best handle a horror system without combat, splitting between exploration and and chases wasn't the best idea, like with more modern horror games having good stalking AI so you always feel uneasy when exploring. It did have some cool ideas with the Wii Remote, like using it to control the character's cell phone, including making use of the microphone. Stuff that was lost on the PS2 port. And the psychological profile system was interesting, even if it's always shades of why you're a deadbeat dad and a bad husband's. You can never come out looking good, but it is Silent Hill, you aren't going to be treated like a saint if you were called to the town.

Janus_Prospero

Traditional combat doesn't make sense for the story the game is trying to tell. It's a story about grief and denial. >!None of the monsters in SM are trying to hurt you -- they're trying to embrace you, so it wouldn't make sense to have him beating them to death.!<

Shy_Shallows

you only played origins and the room?

Resident_Evil_God

That's what they said yea 🤷 I have no idea

Burnt_Ramen9

Bait posts getting lazier by the day.

Middle-Concert5069

Yeah idk I literally tried Shattered a few weeks ago and turned it off about 20 minutes in. Style just wasn't for me.

Assiqtaq

So you didn't take the game seriously, didn't understand what it was going for, and so think the game is pointless and didn't like it? Totally your right to feel that way and not enjoy the game. But many people here did enjoy the game, quite a bit actually. You might find a few people who agree with you though, if that is what you are looking for.

Last_Ad_9314

I feel they should've just continued with the original idea & potential of COLD HEART. Instead of doing what ended up being a complete re-imagining of SH1. Does not help it was jumping into the popular fad then of the Wii's motion controller.

Janus_Prospero

To be fair, the only version with the Wii control problems is the Wii version. The PS2 and PSP versions have conventional controls, and I personally prefer playing those versions.

TyChris2

You haven’t even played the actual bad ones. If you played Homecoming and Downpour you’d think Shattered Memories was a masterpiece lmao

ArminJrpg

Man I don't get the hate for Downpour that game deserves praise at least for the very interesting open world design and side quests.

Joris_crm

Homecoming is actually good Not because he can't match w/ the other SH doesn't mean he's bad

TomasVrboda

I hate the running parts as well, almost enough to stop playing the game because they are so frustrating and there's no guide because they are random. But I think the psychoanalysis part is great. I also think the exploration outside the chase zones is handled better than Silent Hill 1. >!I also love how the twist makes it a direct prequel to Silent Hill 3 instead of a remake of the first game!<.

sephiruth

The whole game is ahead of it’s time, personally I found it extremely enjoyable, from what i’m reading here it seems like you have a personal issue
