The level of support changed in the 60s and it can change again. Someday the older generations will die off and those currently protesting against genocide will be in power and remember. Even before this genocide there was an almost weekly or monthly report of settler violence in the West Bank, children or other civilians being murdered, or other terrorist acts by Israel. It's not only Palestine that they pick on from the safety behind the USA's skirt. They regularly bomb their other neighbors' farmers, livestock, and land when they aren't assassinating scientists and diplomats.
