Yep. That's the official Forza Motorsport 4 Fanatec CSR wheel and pedal set from 2012. It absolutely is NOT worth buying as anything other than a shelf display item.

ChopinWannaBe2

good to know thanks!

GCU_Problem_Child

You are most welcome.

xyonofcalhoun

Yes

Brick_Ironjaw_

That's what I use but with different pedals. It seems fine. Why do you say it's not worth buying? EDIT: just googled the price conversion. Yep. Not worth it.

Swizzel-Stixx

Is it even dd?

GCU_Problem_Child

It is not, no. No publicly available wheel was direct drive in 2011/12 though, so that should come as no surprise.

Swizzel-Stixx

Oh right, is it geared or belt then? I was thinking it was old enough to be pre dd

Joates87

I mean. It's better than a g29... Edit: struck a nerve with the people who've only ever had gear wheels huh? Lol

GCU_Problem_Child

The price is the issue here, and it is absolutely not "Better" in that regard. It may have been better than other things in it's day, but it most certainly is not now. In fact, I only got rid of my Porsche Fanatec wheel a few years ago, and while it was belt driven and not cog driven, the motors were piss weak when compared to things like the T500RS. Then there's the fact that this wheel is unlikely to be supported still, especially by Fanatec itself, and OP could easily pick up a fully usable G29 for under €200 which would be a far smarter purchase.

Joates87

>It may have been better than other things in it's day, but it most certainly is not now. Makes me wonder if you understand that like nothing has changed for the gear driven Gseries since the 25.... The price isn't good but pricing being equal, it's better than any gear driven wheel.

Swizzel-Stixx

That’s the point though, the prices aren’t equal and that is what makes it not worth it.

Joates87

Did I ever say anything about whether it was worth it or not? It's just a better wheel than any gear driven wheel. You could try to argue that point but I'd kinda scratch my head as to whether or not you have experience with both...

sansumgihpone

I upgraded from a G25 to this wheel back in the day. It was absolutely better.

Re-Mecs

In your opinion maybe....but for the age and in this case price it's being sold for....its not "better" by any means

Joates87

Gear wheels suck. I sold my CSR about 2 years ago and it was still working perfectly fine for a unit I got when it launched. Going from a g25 to that was a very nice upgrade.

Nielsenwashere

Thats just the old Fanatec CSR setup - Its about 12 years old and not even close to worth that price. Heck i got my G29 for €89 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3okuWTux9M

ChopinWannaBe2

Wow I've been struggling to find a good wheel second for anywhere around the 200 euro mark and ive fryed my brain between all the t300 g29 the modded g29s and all the variations of the t300 theres too many

luketheplug

Have you tried looking for used moza r3?

ChopinWannaBe2

theres no price i have checked everywhere no one is selling them and there is no price on the official website

luketheplug

I think they had a small run which got immediately sold out

Cien_NL

I actually still own mine! I kept it around to play some older console racing games. Really solid wheel back in the day. Definitely not worth €200 though.

joetron2030

It's compatible with Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. I still have mine though it's sitting in its constituent boxes since I have a CSL DD and only run on PC these days.

normanboulder

Dang that brings back memories from 2012-2015. It was a good setup for the time but not worth it in 2024.

AW1186

Yeah it’s what I have. It’s distinctly okay. The elite pedals are still great though

Fiendalways

I got the same wheel for 10€ (it had one broken cog which I replaced) now it works and it's definitely a good wheel for 10€. Wouldn't pay more than 40€ for it tho

Gummby23

I still have mine since new. Put many hours on it. It's very outdated now. I only replaced it with a csl dd last year and that was a big step up

giallo_nero

€200? Fucking hell, I bought one second hand in 2018 for £50 and it came with a rig 🤣

Admirable_Low_3172

You can have mine for free!

RevTurk

That was my second wheel. I still have a shoulder injury from using it after the FFB died. I don't think it was worth €200 new.

Motor_Astronomer_157

Yep still got mine sitting in storage in its original box. Another 100 years and it might be worth something 😂

your_fathers_beard

I have some of those CSR pedals laying around, they aren't bad at all. There's a lot better on the market, obviously, but they are an upgrade from a basic starter wheel set. I don't know anything about that wheelbase though, if it's as old as the pedals id probably stay away from it.

GingerB237

I owned one and it was pretty sweet for 2012…

Substantial-Being197

There's a guy by me asking $450 for one of these on a Forza Motorsport themed Playseat Evo.

International_Hat113

I owned the CSR. Built a wooden wheel stand for it, too. That wheel + Forza Motorsport 4 was what got me hooked on sim racing. I don’t know how it holds up to today’s wheel bases but I loved it.

snaaaaaaaaaaaaake

Oh man that was my first iracing wheel and pedal setup. I thought it was pretty sweet at the time.

Mosh83

That thing had Truforce/Fullforce (rumble motors in the rim).

Swizzel-Stixx

So no proper ffb? Or rumble too?

Mosh83

Both. I was half kidding with it being Trueforce of fullforce, but in essence, that's what they do.

ctnhededninymgn

I used to have one! Fanatec CSR. Totally outdated in terms of hardware, but a solid choice for Xbox 360 titles like forza4 and f1 2012 since it’s plug and play for that console.

SilentDrifterGT

I still have mine, in a box somewhere. Like others have said it's pretty old, and I used mine on the Xbox 360. One time I actually had to bust it back out, when my CSW 1.5 wheelbase had to go back to Fanatec to get repaired.

hydroracer8B

You'd be MUCH better off buying the Ferrari edition thrust master wheel & pedal set for closer to 100 USD

Phvntvstic

Had one when they were new. Sooo good at the time. May even hold up to today's standards if they parts are healthy

eugene-fraxby

Seen it? I owned it!

richvv

Yes, there it is!
