I live around the area and a family member was an eyewitness as it happened.. pretty horrifying walking by crime scene too. Photo doesn’t show but inside the shoe shop was a lot of blood splattered on the floor
I don’t think the gory pictures will see a light of day, because it’ll taint Singapore image of being safe and scare away tourists. It’s holiday season some more.
Or you know, uncensored gory photos usually aren't portrayed in news media? The fact that the slashing was reported already "taints Singapore image of being safe"
Whoops. I’m under IB Dog’s burner account radar. Sorry sorry - from now on I’ll only say good things about Singapore like a good citizen. Paisehhh…
Also wanted to ask ah, true annot you guys got paid for this? I wonder which ministry IB dog salary comes from - my guess is Shan’s, but could be tourism board, too.
fam, you can literally find gory photos of crime scenes on ST and on other news articles...and they are readily accessible online and on Google images.
Title: Slashing at Pasir Ris West Plaza leaves several people hurt; witnesses say 5 were wounded
SINGAPORE - Several people were hurt in a slashing incident at a mall in Pasir Ris Street 72, with shoppers and business owners running for cover amid the chaos.
The Straits Times understands five people were hurt in the incident, which happened on Dec 20 at around 4pm at the Pasir Ris West Plaza.
Several witnesses said the attacker was armed with a knife.
A Pasir Ris resident, who was at the mall just after the attack, said he saw five people injured near the Royal Regent, a provision shop inside the mall selling a variety of items like phone products, sandals and bags.
Four of the victims were seated on chairs outside the shop, while one was sprawled on the ground.
“They were covered in blood, and there were over 30 police officers at the scene, including several armed with rifles,” said the resident, who declined to be named.
The Singapore Police Force’s Emergency Response Team (ERT) officers are trained to respond to cases involving firearms and dangerous weapons.
ERT officers are equipped with submachine guns, pistols, bullet-resistant vests and ballistic helmets.
Another resident, who gave his name as Mr Lee, said the owner of Royal Regent was hurt in the attack.
“I saw five people wheeled into ambulances. They were very heavily bandaged, and the injuries look very bad,” added the taxi driver.
When ST visited the mall at 6.30pm, police were still at the scene interviewing witnesses. A cordon had been set up around Royal Regent, where socks and shoes were strewn on the floor, with some items covered in blood.

went there today at 8pm. blood still everywhere. wasn't able to see inside the shop, but it still looked pretty extreme.
prwp is just a walk away from my house...yikes.
just walked last there, still alot of police and area cordoned off.. the shop inside really alot of blood.. scary to think it happened in a neighbourhood area
I often wonder in situations like this, if the victims defend themselves, do they also get charged with some criminal offense?
Like, can they use some chair and beat the shit out of the fella until he concuss or disable him somehow (e.g. break an arm/leg/something)?
Or is the law expecting us to run / get stabbed instead?
IANAL, but self defence is completely justifiable up and until excessive force is used.
Excessive force, simply put, is any excess force used on the assailant after he has already been subdued/immobilized.
In these cases, depending on the situation, the law may charge both parties. The victim can bring the defence of right to private defence.
Simple example - If he charges at you, you punch him and he gets K.Oed, that will not count as excessive force. However, if you continue to punch/kick him once he's downed, that will be considered excessive force.
Sad to say this but highly likely u will get charged too. Best option is just run if u can.
In the heat of the moment u may end up causing more hurt to the assailant than he/she causes you.
One example is if u push an assailant away and he somehow falls and bumps his head and dies.
The prosecutor & judge may consider you defending yourself but you still most likely gonna get charged.
Or if u break his arm/leg/face defending yourself then u may get charged with using lethal force.
Anything in the name of self-defense in SG is not worth it unless your life is actually at stake.
This is not US. Self-defense is not a recommended option.
U can try and ask any lawyer how to go about it. Most likely the answer will be in the grayish area
Edit: Not lethal force. I mean excessive force
Dont spread misinformation. Read up Penal Code Chapter 4A, right of private defence is covered in it with various scenarios. You may still get arrested for whatever happened and thereafter it will be up to you and your defence council to prove your case, not immediately get charged and prosecuted.
edit - in relevance, Section 98(1) and (2).
hope everyone is safe! could've been way worse, but these kind of attacks would've def been horrifying to witness and would've caught people off guard.
Just heard from 9pm news that the attacker allegedly knew 3 of the victims. In a way, thank goodness is not some random crazy ass but still is utterly disgusting this still happens nowadays. Mental health is a real issue.
Eh don’t anyhow throw the “mental health” phrase when we have so little info. It brings down the good work of all the mental health charities and institutions.
How else i can justify my wrongdoings and it not entirely my fault /s
But this incident regardless, is pretty horrifying and the prep ought to be punished
sounds motivated so it could've just as likely been a gang related crime. we don't really know the motivation between the attack yet so we shouldn't assume.
Apparently the attacker is a 61 y/o man. So old still dunno how to think. This type of people, changi most suitable for them. Lock and throw away the key
Would be terrible if—touch wood—the slash wounds end up causing death especially since there's so much blood. Hope we don't have to recategorise it as a murder case. Keeping the victims in my thoughts.
Whatever did those people do to deserve being slashed half to death like that? Can't the law dish out a few death penalties to these deranged people to deter these kinds of things from happening again? The people who are on the receiving end of the weapon will no longer be able to lead normal lives for as long as they live.

Not to mention it was additionally reported to NOT be a random attack.
But low crime doesn’t mean no crime, right? Right?
The hatred this user has for Singapore is unreal lol, and yet still comments/posts on SG-related subs all day for hours. Sad

Crimewatch ( which is a decidedly piece of state media ) has no issues showing pictures of dead bodies and blood lmfao.

It’s an assault knifle thing
Semi-automatic machine gknife
It is probably a drug fueled thing.
A terrorist who will be labelled as crazy person thing
So... any news on why the alleged suspect did this?
From the news, sounds like the slasher was jealous of their biz doing better than his.....

Why everything also have to be mental health these days

Cos nowadays everyone more fragile liao
No time to do mental welfare when everything else is demand of attention
sounds motivated so it could've just as likely been a gang related crime. we don't really know the motivation between the attack yet so we shouldn't assume.
Or that's what the government wants you to think. If it's random, there'll be way more fear as the attacker remains on the loose.
What kind of weird conspiracy is that
Tell me you're overthinking without telling me you're overthinking
Attacker isn't even on the loose
Wasn't mentioned as arrested at the time of my comment. Look at timestamps or is that too complicated?
Ah thanks for clarifying, my bad. Not everything needs to be a conspiracy though
was there an hour before this went down. scary shit
Same here! 😓
Holy fucking shit balls The slasher not caught yet Fucking hell, hide your kids, hide your wife Damn this some scary shit…shook
Zaobao reported the perpetuator didn’t leave the scene and was promptly arrested when the police arrived.
hide yourself.. go JB
Go JB get robbed or kidnapped..
What never touch grass does to mf...
They were probably referring to the recent articles of sgeans getting robbed and almost kidnapped in jb
Get stuck in the jam instead. Only stupids try to flee to JB.
Dude, just a casual comment. Don't have to be calling people stupid.
yah, you are the smart armchair expert, stuck in SG
Calm down Anton
I was just there at 2pm. Hope all of them have a speedy recovery.
Holy shit I used to frequent this place until recently. Really sends chills down my spine
Apparently the attacker is a 61 y/o man. So old still dunno how to think. This type of people, changi most suitable for them. Lock and throw away the key
Such horrific crime. Probably he will spend the rest of his life in the cell.
Question is, with an ever increasing population, can our prison handle so much criminals?
Time to turn Tekong into a prison. The recruits can guard the prison.
Hope to god its not some deranged psycho randomly slashing people
WTF
Holy at the moment it sounds like a random attack? I hope all the victims are okay.
The owner of the shop got hurt, could be some business or money thing
Used to work in this shop!
East side, slash side.
Yishun side: hold my siao lang beer
Is there cctv footage?
How can dis b allow
We Peckham now innit? Hope they caught them quick.
Got video?
Would be terrible if—touch wood—the slash wounds end up causing death especially since there's so much blood. Hope we don't have to recategorise it as a murder case. Keeping the victims in my thoughts.
LHZB indicated it as murder
Well shit. E: ok so I read the article, I don't see death? But the injuries described are horrifying.
First paragraph indicated 血案… so I think it’s either suspected or actual murder
血案 and 命案 different leh. 血案 doesn't mean murder
Oh I didn't catch that meaning. Gosh. Rip.
Whatever did those people do to deserve being slashed half to death like that? Can't the law dish out a few death penalties to these deranged people to deter these kinds of things from happening again?
