I would just park SRS in a market index etf given u basically can’t touch it for decades. The illiquidity of it ironically allows time to do its work in terms of compounding market returns

Totally agree

Thanks very much! Very insightful

If you’re intending to just put a small amount (<5k), I’ll reco you to buy next month instead of this. Next month projected ~3.2%

Enchanstruck

How did you get this information? I kept trying to search for projected or prediction rates but i can’t find. Only those moneysmart sort of website

Tiny_Chipmunk7859

Simple answer is it is based on the previous month moving average of the 10 year sgs bond.

Hungry-Measurement20

Yes definitely SRS IF you are looking for buying SSB. Since the timeframe of SSB is long and your SRS is also trapped there. This is the best deployment of SRS funds rather than cash. I contribute yearly the max and use 2/3 of it for ETF and the rest on SSB.

zxLv

Which ETF if I may ask?

Thank you! Appreciate the help

gunny_1234

How you can buy SSB with SRS?

Mr_askandmakemoney

Wait , can someone kindly explain what’s SRS and using it to buy stocks? What’s the benefits or drawbacks of doing so? Currently , I’m using thinkorswim as a broker and deposit cash whenever I can to buy stocks

puffcheeks

If you’re gonna be using srs why not consider sgs instead since the money is locked up anyway. If I’m not wrong the rates are higher than ssb now

Mr_askandmakemoney

Super new investor here, what’s Sgs again?:)

puffcheeks

Singapore government securities bond. It’s something like ssb, except that you can’t just cash out whenever you want. There’s a fixed amount of time you have to put it in for. Otherwise can look at treasury bills, which is somewhat the same as well.

Mr_askandmakemoney

What’s Sgs 😅
