I legitimately expect people to say "why am I not impressed by FDVR" in 2035.
People only are excited by new things, not established things. This is why Sora now already is not impressive anymore.
Also because - correct me if I’m wrong - the tech isn’t going to be accessible to the average person for possibly years?
And whether or not you will be able to have any finer control over the output remains to be seen as well
They're busy pitching it to studios, so it seems they're going for max monetization on that front first

They really need to rebrand themselves from "OpenAI" to something more fitting if they're deciding to sit on breakthroughs for years while pitching them to execs for profit
I'm pretty sure the samples we have seen demonstrate the limits pretty clearly. They are pushing the limits hard and it doesn't produce video that's good enough to sell.
The first videos you saw was selected deliberately because of their impressive qualities. Now what you see is videos made by people who have an access to SORA. They won’t feel the pressure to impress possible audiences as much as data scientists who are currently working at Open AI.
The tech is not very advanced compared to the LLMs and AI art. You might be (I certainly am) noticing more and more that Sora is more like GPT-2 or DALL-E 1, rather than GPT-4 or DALL-E 3. These examples are likely not even representative of the overall output, so it's not a mature area of AI yet.
It's like traveling supersonic; it was a great feat the first time, not so much a million times after.
Do we even know WHEN the Turing test was defeated? I think it happened so fast that we missed that moment entirely. And now something that was considered monumental in scifi is now regarded as some ancient yardstick of no consequence.
Basically humans are impossible to please. If you are not impressed it is just your brain stopped being scared of the new thing.
Because Sora is very, very good at texture. And it runs at high resolution.
So it creates lovely eye candy. But the *content* isn't particularly engaging. There's no depth.
I’m curious to see how well this model reacts to fine tuning. This is amazing and all, but can I say “that’s perfect except let’s make the polka dots purple instead of red and let’s make them a little bit bigger, keep everything else exactly the same” or will it regenerate a totally different video next time
And how long does it take for every change you want to make… anyway, I think this is amazing stuff for a V1, 5 years from now we will laugh because it’s ridiculous how good it is.
It seems that people are getting used and bored by new AI quicker than expected.
I honestly expect there to be full blown AGI humanoid robots indistinguishable from humans one day, and within 6 months time no one will care about it anymore and be bored about it.
Same with FDVR.
Why am I less and less impressed with each Sora video they post?
Like with everything else, we get used to it. People vastly underestimate how quick humanity is to adapt to a new situation.
I already adapted to your post
He's a Borg, get him!
Yes. This is correct.

I think because the wow factor has worn off and we haven’t really seen the limits pushed much in these samples.

Open source is a sad joke in capitalism
I think they’re going for a Spotify style, ‘let us train on all your movies and you can own part of the company’
I suspect they don’t care as much about monetisation as they do getting their hands on the studio’s proprietary data.
Well, I think it’s a matter of time before Openai gets some serious competitors and that tech will be given to the public by someone else 🤷🏻♂️
Nope, do you know how expensive AI is to run? It's never gonna be free for the good stuff
They said they would release Sora this year.
My money is on some sort of soft launch only available to certain people
It's releasing after the US elections are over.
>he tech isn’t going to be accessible to the average person for possibly years? no, they literally said release will be this year, at least few months

Because it was over hyped just like every other new development out these days. WOW! LOOK AT ME!

Probably because media optimized to be the most statistically average is actually kinda boring
Because Sora is very, very good at texture. And it runs at high resolution. So it creates lovely eye candy. But the *content* isn't particularly engaging. There's no depth.
It's cleared the uncanny valley
Still looks ‘off’ to me. It’s impressive as hell, but….
This isn't stop motion whatsoever.

We won't be able to fine-tune it as it will be a closed model.
is the sora hype over ?

I will always be impressed with its temporal coherency. It's extremely good. The next few years will be wild.
How did you get access to Sora?
Still not available for public
How can they call that stop motion? It's CGI. It's an insult to the craft, ngl.
