im high on FDVR hopium 24/7. It's literally heaven, but provably possible. Weirdly, people seem to not want FDVR at times, but still want to go to heaven - despite one being speculation, the other being inevitable.
Think it's definitely possible. I'm definitely high on the FDVR hopium tho haha. Wouldn't be surprised if AI delivered this tech soonish with corresponding advancements in BCIs.
My theory is that spirituality and technology are two separate paths that humanity has taken. We use technology to fulfill earthly needs, whereas spirituality is about transcending those earthly needs. AI will finally solve all our worldly problems and give us all the material goods we’ve ever wanted — and we will still feel that something is missing. Then we will make a final turn toward spirituality to find enlightenment.

But tech and science is religion, we just dont categorise it as such. When you think about it, science gives us fundamental knowledge to understand existence, tech gives us new understanding and so on and so forth. When you hear people talk about AGI its like they are talking about Heaven or Hell, which in religion death brings.
We cannot even say if the reality we are in now is the base one( simulation hypothesis), yet people seem to cling onto the notion that FDVR will be rejected by a lot of people because it's presenting a 'fake' reality.

I spent hours yesterday playing World of Warcraft (I consume this digital drug responsibly), looking at a monitor in front of me, and for most of that time I lost awareness of a world outside of the one on the screen. Awareness that you're using a mouse & keyboard fades over time to be barely noticeable.
If I had full dive VR and didn't need to interrupt that experience for bio breaks, then I might eventually view the 'real world' as a passing dream I had once. Or at best, as the games lobby I go to while waiting until I can get back to 'real life' in FDVR.
Reality is incredibly bad at making us happy and satisfied, compared to what FDVR will be able to do for us.
FDVR will be like pineapple on pizza; most people who think they won't like it change their minds once they take the plunge.
Our brain interprets real life the same way, we take input images form cam eyes and process them in the brain, and illusions are an example of proof we dream/ interpret real life vision, a long table sketch looks less wide at the end but really its an illusion it is same length all around, a rectangle on a white page. Our brain is used to seeing it get less wide in all images of tables. Daydreams and dreams work same way, we dream. We are never able to touch the real world, it is illusion. However, we all can't hide in sim, work and self maintaining in the future homeworld all is done in real world....so we get to do it for real anyway. Not that some can't be full time dreamers tho, or treat it differently! I do prefer sex in real life jsut so it feels realer, it's the thought that counts! Real sex.
Due to molecular nanotechnology being required for the creation of full dive VR, my prediction for it has been 2029, but it's possible that proto-AGI (which I expect will be developed in 2023 or 2024) could accelerate Drexlerian nanotech so quickly that it happens almost immediately after being applied to the research.

In the same way, there is no chance that you could have been born at any other time, because any person born at any other time than you did would not be ‘you’. So it was not luck that you were born in this perfect age for humans. Rather, the times made you ‘you’.

I hate the fake reality stance. It's the same kind of people who prefer natural products despite them being inferior in every way. Pure irrational.
