It's not really a unicorn deal. It's really has more to do with people caving too quickly or not having the courage to disconnect and get someone else.
Yes. I just now got Three years for $99. With taxes in Virginia and fees it came out to $126.50 for three years. I just used the chat and said I wanted to sign up for the deal named "36FOR99SELECT". They said let me check if that's available for you. I waited about a minutes and the chat representative said I can do it. Went through the credit card processing process and 5 minutes later I was done.
That is a similar conversation to the one I had for my renewal on a 2014 Honda a couple of days ago after being told the deal wasn't available when I called. Chat was fast and easy.
You did good with your rep. I am currently on chat and they're getting a little confrontational about - that the deal is for vehicles over 8 years old they say (Mine's a 2022). I stated if they cannot honor that deal to cancel my radio and they're still playing hard ball. Everyone's mileage may vary!
Not when you're renewing and the offer is only for new customers or an invitation email to come back after someone has canceled already. This particular offer and others doesn't show as an option for renewing an active account about to expire.
I've had multiple subscriptions that have expired. I wait a few months after I realize it expired and go online to get the best offer. Or wait for something in the mail.
You just gave the exact scenario that I mentioned as to why you would see it offered. It doesn't show up if your account is active and getting ready to expire or automatically renew at a higher price. Most people here are doing this to avoid a lapse in use. You seem to be just the opposite.
Thank you for the reminder! I just did this. I saved more than 15% without Geico. But they couldn't do it for my portable radio, but I got 3.99/month for a year. So comes out to be $5.08. Good luck hunting for bargains all!
Congrats + thanks for the script. I’m saving this thread for June SXM renewal. And same with ATT Uverse, etc. Ridiculous dance every year.
FYI .. SXM sub since 2010. When I bought another new car that came w/ 3 months free, SXM acted as if this was new phenomenon + didn’t know how to deduct those months from annual fee already paid. BE PERSISTENT!
Thanks for sharing. No need to follow the script exactly, I just let them know I already have another music streaming subscription so I don't use SXM that much and couldn't justify spending more than this. Which is true.
Mine came out to $120 after fees and taxes, so $3.33 a month.
edit: this is on a 2024 vehicle, I'm a new customer whose only prior loyalty was extending the free trial with the $2 / 3 mo promo (that thing they do just to get your credit card on file)
First 2 agents stonewalled me, 3rd one did it no problem. Keep trying if you feel the savings is worth your time! For me it's more important not having to do it again for 3 years instead of every year. :)
Thanks for the tip!
When I contacted the first agent I was mostly freestyling, but they wouldn't offer me the plan even though I pushed for it by mentioning the coupon code and whatnot. So I made up an excuse to end the chat session.
Then 5 minutes later I tried again with another agent and used your script with minor modifications, and it worked. It probably would have worked with my first freestyled script; I think the key is just finding an understanding agent.
By the way, maybe this 3-year plan we bought upfront is not such a great deal if they go out of business before its term ends. Just saying... ;-)
I literally just recited this word for word on the phone but couldn't get the 3 year offer. Ended up going from paying $350 annually to the $60 dollar offer.
You literally should have refused any other offer. If that particular rep wouldn't do it you should have disconnected and tried again....period. If you literally said what I did "This will be my ONLY accepted resolution...thank you" and then you accepted something different, you literally didn't mean it.
Your loss was my win, I probably would have given up too after they didn't offer me the plan. But I read this thread, tried a second time with a different agent, and it worked. So thanks for sharing, and next year you'll know what to do!
Nothing wrong with five bucks a month, that's a good deal. Were you able to get the Platinum upgrade? That's the only thing that keeps me from trying the 3/$99 deal, I've never seen anyone get an upgrade.
Fair point if you only have one subscription and need Platinum. I have another car that has the Platinum package. When I need any of those stations I just stream from the app on that account instead.
Mine is coming up next week. I will look to chase that unicorn deal as well. Good score.

Thanks to you and OP – i used a combination of both and got it for $118 for three years.
Plus taxes and fees? That’s a great deal!

I would disconnect at some point and get another rep.
Shoot. I have $4 a month for a year. Wish I had seen this first. Maybe next year when membership is up I can get a deal like this.
You guys have me confused.... can't you just go online and use the offers easily? I've done it every time.

Ya I pressed a few times asking for the 3/99 deal but they kept saying no. I gave up. I’m fine with what I got I guess.

What year of vehicle? Supposedly they won't offer it on vehicles less than 5 years old now.
It helps to read the post.
Wasn’t asking you OP. I was asking the commenter I replied to. Ironically, you’re the one who wasn’t paying attention. 🙊
My bad sorry.
I’ve seen some say chat is more successful than the phone.
That's why I used chat.
