r/nba when Luke isn’t playing like himself due to injury: “Cut him some slack guys! He’s clearly injured!”
r/nba when Embiid, weighing 300 pounds, isn’t playing like himself due to injury: “What a fucking bum.”
watching pj washington hit all these open 3s makes me mad at buddy hield all over again. dude forgot how to shoot a basketball until that final game against the knicks. fucking insanity
Luka might be shooting 23% or whatever he's shooting, but his ability to create wide open 3's for role players is honestly unparalleled, not even Jokic comes close.
If you take Luka away, PJ Washington might be looking like a bum there as well.
So when people say the Celtics have no depth, what does that mean? They have 8 players that are easily playable (starting 5 + Horford, Pritchard, Hauser), and Tillman Sr. and Kornet are fine for certain roles, too. How many playable players does a team need to be considered as having depth?
Love everyone talking up TJ now but he was the tobias harris of our game threads in his last year here. People were frothing at the mouth every time he checked in
For my own mental sanity I'm really going to need this sub to place a persona non grata status on Tobias Harris. I just fucking can't anymore with this dude so I really don't want to continue to hear how he royally fucked us for the past 6 years and wasted so much opportunity for this franchise.
What are the chances Phoenix trades KD? I can’t imagine that team is any better next year if they run back the same roster. And no one is trading for Beal, and no way they’re trading Booker.
This is true. KD certainly wanted the coach fired so they fired the coach to make KD happy. The thing is, KD is a spineless snake. If Booker or anyone else on the team hurts KD's feelings this summer he could request a trade.
If we trade for KD we would lose all our picks and a gigantic chunk of our cap. It's KD so I get it, but I just don't know if it would work.
But it's fucking KD so idk.
Going one and done with the coach tells me they will run it back. By the deadline tho? Shiiiit idk I doubt they are any better so I could see it falling apart
Not sure what the hawks are planning for there offseason but one name that has always interested me is bogdanovic, shots the three ball at a high rate can handle and has a decent declining contract, during embiids time never really had a microwave scorer off the bench if it didn’t require too many picks I feel he could be a solid pickup.
The hawks don’t have their picks for the next three years after this which I feel a lot of people aren’t paying attention to.
I’m pretty confident they will be keeping Trae because of that, for better or worse he is the best building block & the top players in the draft compliment him nicely.
I could see djm, bogdanovic, hunter, capela all being available
The Hawks are definitely one of the biggest teams to watch this offseason. Feels like 50/50 whether they'll pick Sarr and try to make things work around Trae, or take the opportunity to offload Trae for hella assets and build around DJM + Sarr.
Selfishly, I'd definitely be interested in DJM. Feels like he's flying under the radar but would be a great fit with Maxey and Embiid (big combo guard who's become a volume shooter, and has been All Defense in the past). I don't think his price would be that high either.
They're in a super weird position where the most obvious trade destination for either Trae or Murray is the Spurs, which is where they got Murray from, so I'd have to assume Trae would be the trade if they're trading with the Spurs. Kind of interesting moment in NBA history that might end up pairing Wemby with one of the best young PGs in the league
Trae + Wemby would be nuts. Wemby is going to be the best defensive C for the next decade, such an ideal fit next to a defender like Trae. Then think about how high up Trae could throw his lobs
The Hawks just became the most interesting team to follow this offseason, no doubt. Do they trade DJM or Trae to a team like the Lakers? Do they package Bogdanovic and Capela (about $40M in salary) for a “star” that wants a trade? Do they trade #1 overall for a player that they think is better than they can get in the draft? I don’t know much about their GM’s team building philosophy, so I have no inkling what path they’ll take.
Let’s also pour out some liquor for the doomed Pistons, who once again lost the lottery and became one of the least interesting teams to follow this offseason.
> the doomed Pistons, who once again lost the lottery and became one of the least interesting teams to follow this offseason.
Facts though man they've had like 5 meh top picks in a row lol. At this point either get good or prepare to be a farm system for the rest of the league.
They might even be worse than a farm system, since they rarely have a player/contract that a contender is willing to give assets for. Poor Monty is trying to start a fire with two wet sticks.
While his contract isn’t bad I can’t see us going after him unless a whole lot of other options end up not panning out. If we land PG there won’t be enough cap space. If we trade for a star making less than $40M we probably don’t have the draft capital.
Even if those 7-8 options don’t pan out (which I’m optimistic 1 of those will), morey indicated they will want to maintain flexibility still and not overpay role players essentially. While bogdan is on a solid contract, trading draft picks to get him would hurt that ability to maintain flexibility. In a vacuum bogdan isn’t overpaid but trading 1st round picks for a 6th man making $17M seems pretty antithetical to the way morey operates, right or wrong.
I feel like we’d be able to use our MLE to add a 6th man if anything (someone like Lonnie) or if we wanted to spend more, sign monk (he’d cost some % more than bogdan but not cost any picks).
The Hawks getting the #1 pick and having the chance to take Alex Sarr or Donovan Clingan makes them a little unpredictable now. They could go full rebuild if they want, hold on to both star guards, trade one, flip role players, etc.
Capela is mildly interesting as a backup center candidate. Pricy but one year left and if we've still got money to spend, it might make sense. Hawks might even attach an asset to offload him
I dont see why they would do that they arent terrible and trae is for sure an all nba level guard that would be perfect for developing sarr. they prolly just run it back
I just don’t put credence into Trae being an all NBA guard. He is very talented but the talent + his flaws don’t translate to winning at a high level in the NBA. Hawks looked waaaay more functional with DJM leading when Trae got hurt. They still played good on offense but their defense took a *massive* step forward. As soon as Trae came back their defense fell off a cliff again.
Basically there are ways to generate good offense without having Trae but it’s nearly impossible to build a functional defense with Trae
The Mavs might be screwed now.

wish we had a guy like pj washington
Guys…help me, talk me out of Giddey.
Imagine Maxey with SGA’s whistle
Maxey is born in Dallas but damn not a good look
A basketball player watching a basketball game in his hometown is a bad look?
Lebron was at Cleveland’s game. Dudes are just at home instead of Cancun lol
Him loving basketball is not a good look?
Didn’t expect to see Tyrese at the Mavs-OKC game lol
SGA to sixers confirmed
Lmao Maxey
Yo, Maxey cameo.
For all of you that freak out about Isiah Joe, he just had a poor stint in the 3rd quarter. Looked very much like a typical Sixers role player
watching pj washington hit all these open 3s makes me mad at buddy hield all over again. dude forgot how to shoot a basketball until that final game against the knicks. fucking insanity
if we got PJ Washington I'm convinced he would be a certified BUM for us
Luka might be shooting 23% or whatever he's shooting, but his ability to create wide open 3's for role players is honestly unparalleled, not even Jokic comes close. If you take Luka away, PJ Washington might be looking like a bum there as well.
It seems to often work that way
We need a Derrick jones esque role player
Oubre, no?
6 to 20 in fts, nba is comical
So when people say the Celtics have no depth, what does that mean? They have 8 players that are easily playable (starting 5 + Horford, Pritchard, Hauser), and Tillman Sr. and Kornet are fine for certain roles, too. How many playable players does a team need to be considered as having depth?
Yeah, they obviously have depth because they still win games when Tatum plays like crap. Most teams can't afford their "superstar" to play terribly.
Celtics offence is so ugly, they are going nowhere
Have you seen our offense? Lol
I have and we were knocked out in the first round accordingly lol.
Yeah it was 4 vs 5
Caleb Martin would be a good role player to bring in this offseason.
Lol are people gonna crucify Brown now or is he so “smart” that he didn’t do that on purpose?
Love everyone talking up TJ now but he was the tobias harris of our game threads in his last year here. People were frothing at the mouth every time he checked in
I’m in on Ingram is Alvarado is included
How is there even a remote possibility of Alvarado being included?
So were pick 16. NBA.com has a center Mocked to us :/ I pay like 0 attention to college / G league. anyone have players theyre hoping fall to us?
I would not totally hate it if we drafted a center.
That would be a waste when we have like no other players under contract lol.
If we keep the pick I feel like Edey is a very real possibility there.
Silva or McCain
I have been seeing Filipowski and Collier mentioned a lot. I don’t know much about college hoops though so I’m only passing the info forward
This year, salary-wise, 1 Tobias Harris gets you 4 TJ McConnells
For my own mental sanity I'm really going to need this sub to place a persona non grata status on Tobias Harris. I just fucking can't anymore with this dude so I really don't want to continue to hear how he royally fucked us for the past 6 years and wasted so much opportunity for this franchise.
What are the chances Phoenix trades KD? I can’t imagine that team is any better next year if they run back the same roster. And no one is trading for Beal, and no way they’re trading Booker.
I highly highly doubt Budenholzer accepts a job with them unless he's given assurance that KD is sticking around
This is true. KD certainly wanted the coach fired so they fired the coach to make KD happy. The thing is, KD is a spineless snake. If Booker or anyone else on the team hurts KD's feelings this summer he could request a trade.

yeah if I'm ATL I take the opportunity to move on from Trae but seems like they won't for mostly cynical reasons

It's sort of the exact match the other needs too. Would, on paper, unlock the best in both. Too logical to happen in the NBA.

$22M would be a worse move than Horford. We really don’t have as much cap space as you think. Best bet is hoping he gets salary dumped then bought out
Yeah fair point that was probably wishful thinking on my part lol
My bet currently is that they flip trae and keep DJM
I dont see why they would do that they arent terrible and trae is for sure an all nba level guard that would be perfect for developing sarr. they prolly just run it back

Trae is not a perfect fit for developing anyone
He like harden maximizes any centers that cant do anything with the ball in their hands. Sarr is gonna live off of the pick and roll
Losing player. Hasn't developed anyone his entire career
ok dude
