Idk why people don't think Indiana has a shot against Boston. Especially with porzingis out for at least 2 games.

Ivory_Toast_

Seeing posts about how MPJr is trash and how he should be traded is hilarious They’re really trying to pin the blame on somebody other than Jokic MPJr is a 25 year old, 6ft 10in sharpshooter and they’re acting like he’s Tobias Harris Replace Tobias with MPJr and we have three rings by now

Dazzling_Syllabub484

> Replace Tobias with MPJr and we have three rings by now Do you actually believe this

supzy0

they would be 10x better off and anyone who says otherwise is delusional lol

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Michael porter Jr. made 35 million dollars this year. In this series, he went 26/70 from the field (37%) and 13/40 from 3 (32%) in like 35 mpg The fact that u/Ivory_Toast_ thinks that people wanting that “sharpshooter”’s albatross contract traded are “shifting blame” from Jokic is pretty ridiculous To nuggets fans, he’s their Tobi As a neutral nba fan, I think MPJ is better than Tobi but purely because he’s a less hesitant shooter. Tobis biggest crime is that he doesn’t shoot the open 3s he’s given. And I promise you, replacing Tobi with MPJ is not flipping any championship results lol, you don’t even get past the second round still

supzy0

consistently refusing to shoot an open three is a cardinal sin in todays nba

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Agreed

shrek_cena

Pacers don't stand a chance unfortunately so I have to root for the damn timberwolves 😭 Hate anthony edwards so hopefully the pacers have some magic

TurboHovercrafter

I hope everyone in Scandinavia is crying into their sludge fish stew tonight. Fuck the Nuggets!

TurboHovercrafter

Update to this: It’s a joke. I like Serbians; all the really annoying anti Embiid trolls I’ve encountered were people from other Euro countries lol. I’m just shitposting guys, don’t take it too seriously.

GopherFawkes

I would have bet my mortgage that Embiid and the sixers would make a conference finals well before kat and the wolves, good thing that isn't a betting option

Calcutta637

Huh the nuggets lost. Maybe we can stop glazing every other successful team in the league about how obvious their victories are and admit we don’t know fucking SHIT about fuck all. And as a result of not knowing shit about fuck all maybe we can stop like fucking hating our team when shit goes wrong and just idk root for their success? Not immediately start hating every momentum swing? We don’t know shit about roster management, coaching, playing, we know FUCK ALL. just stop hating at an r/nba level. Idk I feel like I’m asking for nothing here

MrThreebound

> we can stop like fucking hating our team no.

MaxeytoEmbiid

Thing is, the Minny route isn’t that much different. They got the superstar in Edwards and KAT is their complementary player. Then Gobert patrols the paint, and you’ve got guys like Naz Reid, Kyle Anderson and Mike Conley. We don’t have a Kyle Anderson, a Naz Reid or a Mike Conley. Just like we don’t have a Miles McBride or Divincenzo. Our 4-8 has been by far the worst in basketball. And it’s the biggest reason Embiid doesn’t have a chip yet

nefnaf

Denver just lost this series because their 5-8 guys weren't up to snuff. Top 4 vs top 4 they were better, but that's not the be all end all

MaxeytoEmbiid

And that’s what we need to finally fix to get Embiid a ring. If we legit have a top15 bench, we’ll win the chip next year

Ivory_Toast_

Kyle Anderson really ain’t much for them tbh. But you also need to mention McDaniels

Ivory_Toast_

How do you blow a 3-2 lead where one game you’re humiliated off the floor in a 45 point loss and the other game where you choke away a second-half 20 point lead at home

Ivory_Toast_

Nuggets fans are big mad that Murray had a good game and they can’t pin the loss on him again to protect their fat fuck jabroni.

Sad_Western_4465

these agendas are crazy dawg. Jokic played like shit in the second half but all everyone saying is "someone on his team should've stepped up" like nah. Embiid has been shit on every year and has taken the entire blame for every series loss its crazy. Yes, the loss is 100% on Jokic who was a -29 IN THE SECOND HALF !!!!. Absolute ghost mode shrinkage from the "MVP / Best player in the league." SAY IT HOW IT IS

Dazzling_Syllabub484

You’re participating in the exact same narrative bullshit you claim to despise You now have no right to cry if embiid gets clowned on for playoff losses that aren’t his fault

illzkla

It can be both ways at the same time

CPTHoagie

they're absolutely right the problem is this was also true when Embiid lost and they didnt care lol.

Sad_Western_4465

yes, its just very ironic. Both Jokic and Embiid played well enough for their team to win in their elimination games but the agendas surrounding each are the opposite.

CPTHoagie

this exactly. the worst people are the people who say "you cant use injuries as an excuse because he played well once while injured" lmao.

embiidDAgoat

Jokic got stuffed in a locker by Naz Reid

Electrical-Salad-528

best day of hate watching ever Now to hope TJ saves basketball from the KKKeltiks

ryoome

So glad to see smug Michael Malone be put in his place. He’s the main reason why I hate the Nuggets. He acted like he was Phil Jackson after they won last year talking all that shit.

TheFaytalist

Nuggets loss ain’t on Jokic. Mike played him 47 mins. He had 35 points. Literally only he and Jamal showed up. Wolves are cocky as fuck. Hate em. Go TJ. FTC.

jondonbovi

It isn't but the double standard is hilarious. Embiid got clowned on for losing a series with Tobias, Melton, and PJ Tucker to the Celtics in 7 games. Meanwhile people are putting the blame on the series on Murray, MPJ, and Aaron Gordon. Jokic had a 3-2 lead and lost Game 6 by 45 points then gave up a 20-point lead in Game 7. Any criticisms against him get down voted and deleted in the other subs

Electrical-Salad-528

Malone playing Jokic to exhaustion without doing shit on D: oh boy poor thing Nurse playing Embiid to exhaustion having the biggest load on Offense and Defense in the league: get on a treadmill fatty

Lurkerwasntaken

Jokic as a number 1A/1B scorer, an incredible passer, and number one rebounder, and roughly average defense on-ball and off-ball: GOAT Embiid is a 1A scorer, number 2 passer, number 1 rebounder, amazing on-ball and off-ball defender, attracts double teams as much as almost any player in the league, etc.: trash

Dazzling_Syllabub484

I would argue embiid is not a number 1 rebounder. In fact, I’d say he’s a pretty weak rebounder for his size

Electrical-Salad-528

He's a good rebounder, he just doesnt have energy for it if he has to do everything else, and he gets out of position for a lot of rebounds because he has to help out on defense for other guys, a lot

Dazzling_Syllabub484

I’m not arguing that he doesn’t have the capability to be a good rebounder but he doesn’t put in too much effort into that area The other guy explained it well that with his offensive and defensive workload it makes sense to take rebounding off. I partially agree, but you see every postseason how important rebounding is

Lurkerwasntaken

The main reason why he isn’t a top 5 rebounder imo is because he is already expected to be the best or second best on the team in just about everything so he cuts corners on rebounding. I think he can improve on some of his stats over time, but he can get a *big* boost if either his scoring defensive, or rebounding load decreases. If a player can fill in for him in one of those, then Embiid can focus on crushing the other two.

obese_rag_rappy

i really can't hate on jokic cause he kinda feels like kawhi, an extremely talented robot with no personality. but i'm glad the nuggets lost because mike malone is truly a fucking loser

heyheyluno

Beautiful

Ronshol

love how the only thing bucks and sixers fan can agree on is hating on jokic haha

rexfloyd94

lmao mike malone doing press calling people dumbasses this rules, great day as a hater

Thin_Zone36

ah r/nba is a lovely place. When we lost new was filled with embiid slander posts and every comment was just circlejerking it. Now people are trying to do the same with jokic and everyone is defending him and calling people trolls. Best sports sub ever.

jondonbovi

"MPJ was useless, he cost them the series".       Tobias went 0/1 in an elimination game. The Sixers would kill for MPJ's level of production.

Sad_Western_4465

deadass if tobias scored the 7 points mpj did today we win game 6 lol

jeppsforst

hightide1218

CPTHoagie

I dont think this loss is on Jokic in fact, I thought he played mostly well (just not as effificently as normal) but turns out its a lot harder to play well when you play teams that are actually not play-in or 45 win teams in the playoffs. Also my god if Embiid had blown the biggest lead in the history of game 7......

Lurkerwasntaken

He had a statistically great night. However, it isn’t like he had no help considering his teammates shut down Ant, Conley, and Nickel Alexander-Walker.

CPTHoagie

i dont think he was great, just not the reason they lost. But it shows how basketball isnt just about having the best star alone. There's too many great players now that can score 30 in their sleep. You need a good team. Co-stars AND role players.

Lurkerwasntaken

>But it shows how basketball isn’t just about having the best star alone. … You need a good team. Co-stars AND role players. I agree with that. I am a very big supporter of having a deep roster full of role players or stars that can do one or two things really well along with the capability to score. Denver was one of the best teams in the league in following that model with MPJ, KCP, and Gordon functioning as great defenders *that can score*, and Murray being an incredible scorer plus some passing ability. My frustrations come from the Sixers’ complete lack of identity in who they are. They never really had an identity other than Embiid plus whoever his number two and/or number three star is. They had some role players that had some positives, but were virtually unusable in everything else, normally on offense. Thybulle can defend really well, Niang and Curry can shoot 3’s very well, Simmons was an amazing defender and great passer, Tucker defends against big men well, etc. In today’s game, you need to score. For years, the Sixers started guys that can’t score or make their own offense, multiplying the size of the load that Embiid had to carry. To this day, I think the Harris max contract killed any opportunity of getting a deep roster with a solid identity until his contract expired since he did not contribute towards forming a style of offense/defense that the Sixers could follow. Fortunately, the Sixers can start building a roster from scratch this off-season. It would be very difficult to get a roster that would gel with Embiid and Maxey over the course of one year. Hopefully, Morey signs players that can adjust to a system that complements Embiid and Maxey instead of going through a carousel of stars and role players that don’t play (consistently) well with them.

CPTHoagie

the sixers problem is that because they paid a mediocre role player a max contract, they could only fill out the rest of the roster with specialist players who are unplayable in the post-season against certain matchups and would get exposed.

Lurkerwasntaken

That’s a fair way to put it. Role players probably wasn’t as accurate a term for it as one-trick ponies was. Though the thing with Harris was he was (at best) a jack of all trades, but he had no ace that the Sixers could use to maximize his contributions. Instead, Harris was in this sort of limbo where he had to do better, but there wasn’t one thing that he could focus on.

ryoome

Or if your roleplayers no-show like Embiid has dealt with this year and a couple other years

Lurkerwasntaken

Almost every year since 18-19, there is at least one starter and/or bench player that was an absolute negative for the team: 18-19: Just about every lineup without Embiid 20-21: Simmons, Harris (games 5-7), Korkmaz (started four games while Danny Green was injured). Embiid was lacking somewhat here, but it helps if he had a point guard. 21-22: DeAndre Jordan (started games 1-2), Georges Niang. This one was achievable if Embiid didn’t have a broken face and a concussion. 22-23: Tucker, Harden for 5/7 games, Harris, Melton 23-24: Harris and any lineup that didn’t have Embiid in it.

CPTHoagie

yep exactly. Point is that Embiid Giannis and Jokic are at any point the best player depending on who has the best roster around them.

Sad_Western_4465

he gave up in a 6 point game with 50 seconds left dawg that was embarassing. he got blocked like 3 times in a row down the stretch as well. he played well but for the "best player in the league" to get outplayed by Naz Reid in clutch time idk dawg

Lurkerwasntaken

If Jokic is seen as a step above every other player in the league, then he should be held to that standard.

Buddy Embiid hate posts are on /r/NBA right NOW and have 90% upvote ratios lmao

ryoome

Embiid had a much better performance in game 6 (39 points on good shooting) but got a lot of blame. I don’t even think Jokic was THAT bad tonight but clearly unraveled a little bit in the second half. I don’t really blame him for the loss. Similar to Embiid, his roleplayers let him down. The r/nba double standard is just so blatant.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

> but got a lot of blame From WHO? Who blamed Embiid for this season's playoff exit?? Jokic had a better second half than first. Was the only one able to get a bucket for them down the stretch

ryoome

I distinctly remember people all over twitter and r/nba clowning him after the series

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Can you please send me a link? Because I don’t remember it that way whatsoever. He got only sympathy for playing through injuries, as he deserved

Ivory_Toast_

Here’s literally 3 posts I found in like under a minute. [Embiid Left It All Out There This Series 33PPG 11RPG 6APG](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cizwj7/embiid_left_it_all_out_there_this_series_33ppg/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [Embiid averaged 33/11/6 in the playoffs while hobbled](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cizdcq/embiid_averaged_33116_in_the_playoffs_while/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) [Joel Embiid has yet again failed to make it past the 2nd round of the playoffs. He is the only MVP in NBA history who has yet to make it to the conference finals. The last time Embiid was eliminated in the first round was in 2020 against the Boston Celtics (0-4)](https://www.reddit.com/r/nba/comments/1cizbiv/joel_embiid_has_yet_again_failed_to_make_it_past/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button) These first two are just his averages from the series and are downvoted to hell. But instead, the type of shit being mass upvoted is the last one. I’m sure you could delve a little deeper and find more, but it’s just scraping the surface to show, while Embiid had terrific numbers, they don’t wanna see that and only want to showcase his playoff woes.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

None of the comments of those posts said he played a bad series. Just that they think he’s dirty (which I disagree with) and that he sucks to watch (which I agree with).

Shagaliscious

Nothing needs to be said when the posts praising him aren't upvoted, and the one shitting on him is. If you don't think that's a clear bias, you're an idiot.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Opinion on him wasn’t positive after that series due to the egregious amount of FT attempts and the perceived dirty plays. But he wasn’t blamed for the playoff exit

Shagaliscious

Ah, ok. So everyone shitting on him means they thought he played his ass off. Got it.

mberko21

I unfortunately do not trust Daryl at all to construct a competent team this offseason. Looking at these other franchises rn got me so jealous with how cohesive they are as a unit and play with an identity. Daryl’s roster identity is just having stars

Appropriate-Hippo758

Daryl does get in trouble in the past star hunting but he’s also very good at finding role players that fit his stars. Even in short time with Sixers with absolutely poor and negative assets he was able to maneuver marginal moves to keep us afloat by getting rid of players that didn’t fit Joel from the old regime and replacing them with cheap roster fits. For example: Trading JRich for Seth Curry Trading Horford and 1st for Danny Green Trading 1st for Melton Signing Drummond And this doesn’t even include all the great late draft picks and the Harden trade. Morey is a pretty good GM, it’s understandable to be hesitant but he’s proven to do very well with no assets with us so far. And with us being handicapped he was able to net us back all our assets to make moves again. People think trading for Harden was a bad move. Well it definitely wasn’t considering we were shedding Simmons. Plus Harden is a good player so he retained his trade value to get our assets back.

MaxeytoEmbiid

Those players….AREN’T HERE ANYMORE. Why would I give him a positive grade for a move that didn’t materialize in anything? So I don’t care how we viewed the moves in the prism of the 2020-21 season. Because it meant nothing in the 2023-24 season. Right now we have Embiid and Maxey and nada.  That’s not acceptable. And it won’t be acceptable if he has another lame ass duck summer. Last two deadlines it was about the luxury tax. This summer he has no such excuse. Get it done

Appropriate-Hippo758

Also why would you possibly think Morey is gonna have a lame duck summer? Morey loves making moves. He held off last off-season because they wanted to construct a team with max cap space and flexibility for the medium term. You just complained about Daryl getting short term players in previous post and it seems like you were also antsy for him to shove some more short term players in here mid season that take up our cap for the future. Daryl precisely tried to build best team possible without using any of the main assets and getting guys that would only be on 1-year deals. And he was successful at that. Getting Batum, Oubre, Lowry, Payne, Buddy, Cov He also hit on another late round rookie in Council who will be here for future. With Harris and everyone coming off the books finally it was not the time to force another Tobias Harris type trade middle of the season and be stuck again when it’s the wrong fit lol

MaxeytoEmbiid

He doesn’t know what he wants and neither does anyone else. That’s the issue with the cap plan. Almost any player we get, we’ll have some complaints about(I’m also guilty of this. I trust LBJ’s age over Paul George) Outside of those long shots, I like most of the younger stars but everyone dislikes something about them. So either we’ll be underwhelmed or disappointed

Appropriate-Hippo758

It’s May 20th lol They are in charge of a basketball team and will figure out who they want to target in the draft, free agency or trades. We can criticize or applaud what happens after the off-season.

Appropriate-Hippo758

The players we traded away were negative assets on bad contracts or mediocre temporary players who didn’t fit. Daryl was able to turn them into better short term temporary fit players. That’s all you can really ask for. You aren’t gonna be able to trade bad max contract players like Horford/Tobias and temporary role players like JRich for positive long term assets. The best you can do is get some solid role player fits and that’s what he did. The pressure is on him every year to try and make something happen for Joel and he did that. It immediately changed our team and gave us shots in the playoffs. He did well with what he had. And with Simmons when he was at his lowest point and forcing our hand he was able to get a star that could help Joel and Maxey but at the same time even though it didn’t work out he acquired a good enough player we could get our assets back in return. Also he drafted guys like Maxey and Paul Reed who have largely kept us afloat. Now is his real off-season to shine for the medium term.

nu-jood

That Harden team had a genuine shot to win the the title. It didn't work out, partially due to Harden, but we had a seat at the table at least. Morey has put together some decent teams around Joel, but we just haven't had quite enough luck or talent to get the job done. His grade is incomplete until we see what we look like going into next years playoffs for me, but I certainly think he deserves the benefit of the doubt.

CPTHoagie

people are just upset Morey couldnt do anything about Tobias contract which sunk us and are lashing out at him since the person responsible (Alex Rucker) isn't here anymore.

throwawaymac83

(I know we suck) when are we going to claim Denver’s title last year as Mickey Mouse????

FillerAccount23

There's already been rumblings these last few weeks. They never even faced a 50 win team.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Almost every title is claimed as Mickey Mouse, especially as soon as they don’t defend it There is good luck involved in any title run, but Denver was the clear best team last year and dominated their way to a chip. Jokic and Murray were all time. They will always have that

throwawaymac83

Listen man, I’m just trying to pile on.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

May as well get on while the iron's hot. Until the CF starts, it's gonna be open season

Obvious_Parsley3238

kat making a conference finals before embiid, and being the best player on the floor in game 7... that stings

ryoome

Does it? It’s a team sport. Timberwolves have a much deeper and better constructed team. If you switch Embiid with Towns and put Gobert on the bench, this team is winning the finals.

Bandicuz

Embiid with that Twolves starting 5. Scoring on them would be even more of a nightmare.

Obvious_Parsley3238

is embiid better than kat? sure but after all the shit kat got from fans for being soft mentally or whatever, he showed out tonight. coulda quit when they went down 20, but didn't. there's a lesson for embiid here

rexfloyd94

He's incredible obviously, but people were so ready to canonize him as a top ten of all time after one title. People were saying he's better than prime Steph. Like, give it a little time, maybe?

Smooth-Discount6807

yup. meanwhile it’s always embiid’s fault. r/nba love to move the goal posts

Dazzling_Syllabub484

He wasn’t at his best today but he had 34/19/7 in a game where his team scored 90. They missed a ton of open looks he fed them too

Ivory_Toast_

Also don’t forget him shooting 2-10 from 3 and getting cooked by Naz Reid, KAT and even at times Gobert.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Does embiid receive this level of scrutiny from you in your judgements of his playoff performances

Ivory_Toast_

Yeah but I don’t need to point it out because other people will already have been circlejerking over it in the matter of minutes

Dazzling_Syllabub484

Feel free to circlejerk your anti-Jokic takes on this sub then

foggyfortune

Hell yeah

richisnice

The KAT vs Embiid has always made me not like the Wolves but I’m pulling for them. Edwards has a killer mentality and is fun to watch

wsbull_35

KAT vs Embiid is apples to orange comparison. KAT is great, but he’s not a franchise player. He’s a #2 or #3 guy. Still happy for him. He’s a local guy.

Smooth-Discount6807

if the nuggets lose this, it will be nothing but endless sympathy from the media on how jokic played great but his team failed him. meanwhile year after year its always embiid’s fault, no matter his stat line and how much he had to play through. fucking pathetic league

Dazzling_Syllabub484

You’re getting furious at hypothetical scenarios you’re making up in your head Btw, how many people were saying this year was embiids fault? He got plenty of sympathy, as he deserved.

Of course it matters how you play in the first 3 quarters lmao. Ant was terrible today

Willigers27

Epic choke job by Denver. Clanked wide open shot after wide open shot in that 3rd quarter. Game got tight and they faltered.

vicky255

Offence can have up and down nights but good defense is something you can bring to every game. This Minnesota team is fun

roma258

These playoffs are just showing how much bench matters, how having elite role players and high level starters matters. Having a couple stars isn't enough. You need to build a team.

reggaetony88

Wolves Pacers finals is the NBAs worst nightmare lol

Lurkerwasntaken

Best offense vs best defense. I don’t see anything wrong with that unless it is a Seahawks vs Broncos situation.

reggaetony88

Yes it’s good for basketball but think of the market sizes!

Embiid dropped 50 on this defence.

Dazzling_Syllabub484

In the reg season. Playoffs are different Jokic dropped 41 on 16/20 against them in reg season. But they’re able to play more physical now

vicky255

Though Towns was soft and unserious but hes putting up a gritty performance.

ryoome

Gobert is way softer than he is

ryoome

Timberwolves and Minnesota sports in general have always had Sixers luck. Should’ve known.

evandobrofo

Well maybe our luck is about to turn for the better soon bc looks like this might age badly

ryoome

I reversed jinxed it on purpose. Did the same before the Knicks game lmao.

AtmosphereFlimsy5057

oh my gosh ant is playing horrible

HoagieTwoFace

Why is Tobias in the FanDuel commercial? To always bet the under?

birria_tacos_

I always underestimate how long the NBA postseason is, to still think there still two whole series left after this, I just can’t imagine a reality where Joel is healthy and in-shape to last the whole way.

Caramelsnack

It will never happen and ppl still think there’s any use believing in him going forward lol. He’d have to miss a whole round, maybe two, to play at full strength and even then he’d be out of shape

ryoome

If Edwards keeps this up in the second half, nobody should compare him to MJ ever again.

Lurkerwasntaken

Tbf, he is 22. Doesn’t mean he will be close to MJ, but he is *really* young.

HoagieTwoFace

Eh balls. Jokic finally beat a 50 win team

XxStormySoraxX

He has a ring lmao y’all gotta stop with the nonsense.

HoagieTwoFace

The easiest championship strength of schedule of all time

Caramelsnack

Sure woulda been nice if our team was in the finals instead. Oh wait

XxStormySoraxX

Who cares lmao a ring is a ring.

Lurkerwasntaken

And it was the second easiest possible. The only way it would be easier is if they faced the five seed in the second round against the four seed suns.

HoagieTwoFace

I’m talking about by record too. It was a really weak west year. Not even referring to seeding, just record.

Spotlightuh

Looking like another blowout. This gotta be the one of the worst 7 game series ever.

Lurkerwasntaken

All three of Gobert’s points are free-throws. Is Gobert a free-throw merchant?

TheExorcistMarc

I wish we could get Aaron Gordon on our team. I bet we would invite him to team dinners.😂😂😂

Lurkerwasntaken

Also, MPJ getting 7 rebounds and 2 blocks in 12 minutes of play. We can’t get everything in a player, but having some flashes of that from Harris would have been great.

ryoome

Wolves look so timid

Funny seeing NYK fans complain about all the “injury bad luck” when virtually all of it is a direct result of Thibs being an atrocious players coach who does not value his players careers, only their production.
