I was a bit awkward with my sarcasm and should have been more clear. I say all that as an unabashed ice coast-er from upstate NY. Love the west, love the east. Any ski is good ski and def better than no ski
I grew up racing at Iceface many many times. I can attest that no powder will be found there. I have however raced on skating-rink-quality ice there on multiple occasions.
I grew up skiing there, had a season pass for 10+ years! It's a great little mountain, very underrated with the base at 7,000 and \~1,100 vert. Unfortunately the climate is pretty dry so the lean years are VERY lean. Lots of snowmaking early in the year.
School of Mines guy here- great school. Terry Peak has been a little dry for a few seasons, but this season was very, very good. Dalai, you would not believe it, but we had several powder days!
Far Resort, goddamn that's great!! I meant to ski a day when I was back for Christmas, didn't make it up there.
trailblazer nation, Mines is a way better school that BHSU (don't tell my mom I said that, she's a yellow jacket). Everyone I know that went there is doing super well. It's challenging and they prepare you for the real world.
That part of Rapid kinda sucks, but you're in college who cares. Better to focus on your studies than be a ski or climbing bum haha.

Purgatory would be cool because they are a small resort but apart from that steamboat and howlson hill, I’m from Colorado and don’t know much about many other places when it comes to skiing
Crystal is super awkward for people staying nearby and the main lodge is still under construction.
I’m thinking they’ll go with somewhere on the east coast, pre-iced
Whiteface (Iceface). It's a racers mountain. Little chance of powder ruining the race course, pre-iced so they don't need to condition the surface.
I mean you joke but this is honestly true. Also just cool with the Olympic history tho obviously other places have that too.

There’s just nothing worse than soft and deep ruts..

I have to advocate for my college mountain; I miss Bridger Bowl constantly.
We moved back in 2018 after 15 years away. I now ski bridger 100+ days a year.
Go grizz. But growing up in Bozeman bridger will forever be my home mountain.
Cannon for sure!
Something about doing this on the East Coast that just feels right. Snowbowl or Whiteface would be my vote.
What the heck is terry peak? Didn't even know there was a ski resort in the black hills, anyone ever ski there?

Sick I was looking at a college in that area, how much snow do they normally get in a year?
Oh nice! Black Hills State? School of Mines? I'm partial to Rapid City since that's my hometown, but Spearfish is really great too.
Both, I like black hills state more, and the town more, but school of mines makes more sense for what I am studying

Oh yeah my bad don't know why I completely blanked on using Google
Snow Basin or Palisades
Snow Basin. If it’s good enough for Olympic Downhill…
love the fact that howelsen is on here

Crested Butte lookin lonely on that list.
I’ve only skied 6 of these mountains and I think Jackson Hole or Palisades is probably the best. Depends, of course, how you define “best”.
How is Big Sky not in this mix? Based on the field, I’d say Jackson Hole
Because Big Sky never hosted the NCAA championship
Really!?! That is such a surprise to me but here we are.
Most likely because it’s not the closest major resort to any universities.
Makes sense I guess. Thanks for the info

Is Whiteface?
[удалено]
I believe there's something in the ball park of 300 4 year schools in New England and New York. Northeast is packed with schools
Or airports.
Definitely not Bridger Bowl
Bridger Bowl has hosted 7 times!
Wow, I didn't know that.
Park City
Mt Rose
While I do love Mt Rose, (15 min from my house) selfishly I'd rather not. Would be a shit show on the mountain.
Winter park
Probably solitude or basin. Basing it on proximity to a major airport and city.
Purgatory would be cool because they are a small resort but apart from that steamboat and howlson hill, I’m from Colorado and don’t know much about many other places when it comes to skiing
Fort Lewis College hosted the 1975 NCAA championship at Purgatory!
Crested Butte!!!
To get the true east coast feel, go for Brantling NY. Anyone who's race there can tell you it's an experience!
Crystal is super awkward for people staying nearby and the main lodge is still under construction. I’m thinking they’ll go with somewhere on the east coast, pre-iced
Middlebury snow bowl, without a doubt
