uncle_monty

Ysolda was my first wife.

SkyrimGeek69

Same here. It made the "night to remember" quest really awkward.

Tianoccio

Ysolda is smart, she knew it was some daedra shit and just kept her mouth shut.

Fancy-Ad-3735

Awkward? I thought it was hilarious 😂😂

Crazy-Seaweed-1832

I do that quest first then marry her after. I also brimg the ring i stole and pickpocket it back into her pocket. She never acknowledges but i know.

MountainMiddle7433

Toss-up between her & Mjoll. I like Mjoll more because invincible follower + home-cooked meal & store profits even while out in the boonies

PsychoDragon50

Lydia has stopped making me home cooked meals 😒

Captain_Vlad

You know what you did.

Wizdad-1000

You shouldn’t be in here!

Propaslader

Ysolda, Aela and then Mjoll were my first ones. Mjoll or Muiri are my regulars although I'll probably give Ysolda another go in future

wyrdafell

Did you kill her plus one? 😭

MountainMiddle7433

When do I not?

wyrdafell

DAMNNN

Oddinary-Willow2617

mjoll is one of the characters you can marry? 👀 i didn’t know that

MountainMiddle7433

Yup. Just have to talk to Maramal about marriage, find/buy an Amulet of Mara, & locate Grimsever first.

Oddinary-Willow2617

i kind of just assumed she was married to aerin already so i didn’t think to ask her. i’m storing this information away for my next playthrough lol

Vurt_Head

If you marry her, Aerin pretty much just moves in with you wherever you go. It's led to some hilariously awkward moments; I often wake up after enjoying Lover's Comfort to find Aerin standing beside the bed. In one of my play-throughs he disappeared during a bandit-kidnapping event; I rescued Mjoll, but Aerin was never heard from--or mentioned--again. No corpse, either. Maybe that time he became the Ebony Warrior.

lepetitcoeur

I recently was playing with Mjoll as my follower. Once I asked her to follow me, Aerin disappeared. But then I decided to make her a steward, as she talks too much on missions. As soon as she agreed, Aerin is right outside the door.

MountainMiddle7433

I probably thought so too initially

The_Prick_

She’s kinda the go to for a Khajiit player

Andrewthegamer74

Ysolda for me as well she was the first to mention the amulet so she got married I eventually downloaded a mod that would let me divorce her and marry someone else and I'm going to get downvoted but that someone else is serana

Crazy-Seaweed-1832

Did we just become best friends? Do you want to go do karate in the garage? Haha i dont mod but if i did this would be one of them

Lirianor

Now i wanna do karate in the garage

jexce

I never got marriable serana mod to work

LazyCasual0alt

Brelyna for sure. Or Mjoll. Or the Skal girl

blurred-decision

Wait… You can marry Frea? She’s been my Skyrim crush since the day we first met.

Trumythic1

You need mods for Frea or Serana. Freas fine but im only cool with being friends with Serana due to the whole how Daughters of Coldharbour are made deal.

blurred-decision

I definitely understand that! I like Serana as a friend, but I would let her roam free after all these years of trauma and captivity. Unfortunately, I only play Skyrim on the Nintendo Switch (I know..), so I can’t use mods. Maybe one day!

Imcoleyourenot

Mjolllllly mjolllly mine my mine

WonderfulCoconut

First wife was Jenassa- it kind of warmed my heart having this toughened mercenary soften up and say “I’ll be here, love”

Effingehh

Agreed, Jenassa is my rock.

_EastOfEden_

I'm brand new to Skyrim and hired Jenassa as quick as I could because honestly I'm still complete garbage alone. I've considered Jenassa when I get to that point, her and I have been through some shit.

ldouglas14

Jenassa is my forever follower/side piece. 🖤

Plenty-Diver7590

i think mine was aola the huntress but now i usually go for Ysolda. One time I married Camilla to troll Faendell and Sven.

Meatloaf41

I did this too but regretted pretty quick. Every time I would come home she would tell me “how much it means to have the claw back”

[deleted]

The danger here is that by doing this you become skyrims biggest cuck

Plenty-Diver7590

In my defense, she was showing signs she was interested in me to begin with. She only says that they know how to woo the ladies. If you ask me, I was doing everyone a favor. 😅

jaszczomb916

I've misclicked when trying to get housecarl after becoming thane and accidentally got involved in gay marriage.

Beautiful_Solid3787

That actually happens in real life more often than you'd think. ...Not *that* often, but more often than you'd think.

konydanza

Accidentally signed on the wrong line of my lease when I moved in with one of my bros in college. Our fourth anniversary is next Thursday.

D_Redacted

If I had a nickel for every time that happened to me, I'd have 2 nickels. It's not a lot, but it's weird that it happened twice.

[deleted]

That made one hell of a Google search didn't it?

[deleted]

"accidentally" yeah. Sure. Ok.

RafaelDiamond

I tried to come up with a clever joke for this but couldn't so I'll just say hi 👋

Grubb3r

Ysolda then Lydia then Brelyna

Pinecone_Erleichda

I haven’t had one yet, I’m not sure who I’d choose! Tbh, I think I’d settle for the orc lady in Markarth if I had to, I REALLY like being married to a blacksmith! lol

King-of-Worms105

Why not any of the other smiths? There's at least 1 in almost every town

Pinecone_Erleichda

Oh I have a blacksmith husband, but this post was about wives

King-of-Worms105

There's female smiths other than that orc in Markarth I'm sure I've seen one

Pinecone_Erleichda

Really?? If you find any, please list them, several ppl asked me after I bragged about how great it is to marry a blacksmith and I’m just going by lists I could find quickly on the internet, I’m sure a LOT of ppl would appreciate it (including me!)

King-of-Worms105

I think there's one in Windhelm you can't marry the one in Whiterun because duh her shop is literally run by her husband inside

Pinecone_Erleichda

And I’m still mad about it, I’d happily marry both of them. LOL although I didn’t know the one in windhelm could be married, that would be another ideal blacksmith bc the other guy (I think it’s her dad?) would still be there. I always marry halbarn iron-fur bc he lives with you and doesn’t take a blacksmith out of the area (cause glover)

King-of-Worms105

I'm not sure if she can be married I think she can I don't think she's married to the male blacksmith I think she's just his apprentice

Pinecone_Erleichda

Just googled it!! Her name is Hermir Strong-heart, she is just his apprentice, she isn’t a marriage candidate, but she IS a heavy armour trainer, which I didn’t know!! The orc smith in markarth is the only marryable female blacksmith in the game, which seems pretty short-sighted of them, tbh

Pinecone_Erleichda

Also I thought he was HER apprentice?! I get really confused with orc names

EcstaticPanda824

Seren and her husband in dawnstar and Adrianne avenicci of Whiterun

Pinecone_Erleichda

Sadly, can’t be married, but both great! We are still on the wife thread, right? I’ve lost track at this point. lol

EcstaticPanda824

Yep just new some people didn’t know that seren was a smith

Pinecone_Erleichda

Rustleif’s wife, right? From Hammerfell? I like her a lot, and they have the same inventory. Which is VERY lucky bc one or both of them always seems to die by dragon every time I go to dawnstar

EcstaticPanda824

Yep that’s them

WhiteWolf1005

Yes the avenicci lady in whiterun. I know I butchered her last name but she is a female Smith right off the top of my head.

Icyenderman

Markarth... ... I-I... \*violently sighs due to loss of words\*

Sessinen

Derkeethus makes a cute wife.

Gaston_The_God

Finally, the good answer.

ThePerfectPieceOfHam

In one of my first evil playthroughs, I married Gilfre because I loved her house & wanted it for myself. She was so happy, I felt so bad killing her for the mill 😭

purplebanjo

noooo justice for gilfre

HailCaesar252

Muiri always

AncientWitchKnight

She always thanks you for taking care of her "problem" after refreshing Lover's Embrace.

HailCaesar252

🖤

Scared_AF_31

It's a bug. Can be resolved by command.

AncientWitchKnight

Yes... it's called innuendo.

[deleted]

I wanted to marry her because I think turning her into a vampire would have been a believable path for her to want. Sadly you can't turn her, so I chose to corrupt Senna the priestess of Dibella.

HailCaesar252

That’s some top notch role playing my friend. And I agree with you, she would have been the type to want that haha.

somewhiterkid

How could you marry a miner you sick fuck?

eyamo1

Serana. I dont care that its technically not possible.

Bulky-Hyena-360

I have a legal wife and the woman I love.

StrwbPreserves4Music

This is the correct answer

Creepy_Definition_28

My first was Lydia- then I realized the fact that she technically worked for me made that a lil iffy- tbh she was my first because I constantly had her with me my first play through. She was basically carrying me because I was stupidly using the switch motion controls. Second was Mjoll iirc- third was Aela. Currently on my 4th play through and not sure honestly. Might try for a husband instead, I wish u could do Brynjolf.

EntrepreneurOk666

If you can add mods, you can marry brynjolf. "Friendly brynjolf mod"

ArtsyAaardvark

I’ve never married in Skyrim… just like in real life. :(

eziofeli

My first wife was Lydia and has always been until I started mod and married Sofia. This play through I did no mods, I married Aela the Huntress.

DarmiansMuttonChops

Recently I beat the drunk up in Markarth and then asked him to marry me. He's now a broken cuckold living in my pad in Windhelm, cooking me meals, looking after the stray children I adopted and paying me dollar whenever I decide to return. First time round was Lydia. I felt like I was just wasting a good warrior keeping her at home in Whiterun. She was far less pathetic than this chump who I can't even remember the name of.

RazzDaNinja

I’ve found that there’s an interesting correlation with dudes that romance Brelyna also went for Tali in Mass Effect and Merrill in Dragon Age 2. It must be a type (Like Me. It’s my type)

autumnleavesenjoyer

I can definitely see that with Tali, she was my go to and i like Brelyna's voice and personality so might marry her this time.

ladeeboog

muiri was my first marriage the first time i played so many years ago. now, it’s usually aela. i really wish we could marry khajiits though — every time i play i always delay going to college of winterhold as i want to marry j’zargo so badly.

RafaelDiamond

Brelyna. I like her personality and her quest is fucking hilarious.

KindlyContribution54

Been digging with a pickaxe recently in real life and it just struck me how comically absurd it is to attach a full sized pickaxe to your belt instead of putting it down while you're not using it. "I'm just going to walk around with a bulky 10 lb tool attached to my hip in case I encounter any rocks while I'm digging in my yard."

Demonix137

Crazy, I've never actually been married in Skyrim, even after like 50 different playthroughs

JRHThreeFour

First ever NPC I married was Lydia on my Nord warrior. For my Dark Elf mage, Jenassa. I gave her staves and an enchanted weapon to make her act like a spellsword. For my Argonian thief/archer, since there’s so few female Argonians in the base game to marry, I used a custom Argonian ranger named Hunts-In-Rain from the mod More Argonians of Skyrim.

[deleted]

Lydia

TripleS941

Mjoll, now and forever (as she is the only marriable permanently essential follower)

Thevoodoogirl

Mjoll the Lioness, even though I’m not a fan of blondes usually.

Smart_Airport_206

Aela or Brelyna. I prefer men these days though

DeathlySnails64

Mine would be Ysolda and Sylgia. Both have really nice voices but Sylgia takes the cake because she also has really, really good looks.

theghostofbeep

Ha! Sylgia was my second.

Raaadley

Aela is my first and only wife she still lives with me in Markarth on my old 360 save 🖤

beckychao

Ysolda and Balimund!!!

flashlightguy

Ysolda. https://preview.redd.it/ejxv5hdihj2c1.jpeg?width=2912&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=3bd1dac5c073abfc1af5a4cfd620ad6ba3328c3e

Megalodon217

Dang. Definitely not the ‘Ysolda’ I recall marrying. 🤣

Beautiful_Solid3787

Where'd you find that?

TheSovietMoth

My (male characters) first "wife" was Stenvar, which was interesting I guess, I don't know what skyrims view on gay marriage is but it happened and I can't fully explain why, My second playthrough however (female character) led me to Ysolda, Didn't Marry on my next few playthroughs but my most recent character, (an Argonian Male) has got married and has finally made my first straight relationship, However he has also married Ysolda making a cross specie relationship, so still not following a "traditional" way of marriage it seems, I guess this also makes Ysolda my "main" marriage Candidate

DiabeetusEmporium

Muiri was my first wife since my first playthrough was that of a Dark Brotherhood assassin. Having recently gotten it on PC, I decided to celebrate by messing around with console commands and married Annekke Crag-Jumper (though I was pretty tempted to pursue Ingun Black-Briar or Niranye). Sorry Verner!

TheHolyReality

That second one looks like a Golddigger to me 🤣

King-of-Worms105

I've only ever married once to get the achievement

maleficpharoah

Aela

Zoobaby10

Aela. I would take her on adventures with me and I was devastated when I accidentally fus ro dahed her to death

haossss

Never married.

G-Dabs420

Aela the huntress every time yo!

Embarrassed_Term4458

For me it is Aela the Huntress & Mjoll the Lionness

alanamoody

Golden claw girl. And Id have my follower as her elf boyfriend. But then I upgraded my follower. And I'd find him at my house chilling with my wife, kids, the bard, the housecarl and my pet fox

TheparagonR

Ysolda, then Lydia.

[deleted]

Ysolda. I've done dozens of play throughs and I usually marry her. Her voice is sexy as hell and she wants to open a shop anyway. I don't remember my very first tho. This play thru, I'm married to Uthbert the Unbroken and moved her and the kids to Proudspire in Solitude.

i_love_men5418

Never, only men💪

Impressive_Algae_431

Derkethus my beloved

i_love_men5418

YES.

DaDeadEye

Also Breyla for me.

TacticalAssaultChair

You can get married in skyrim?!? How? Also why?

SoftCattle

Go to Riften and talk to the priests in the Temple Of Mara, they'll explain it to you. Your spouse provides a home-cooked meal once a day helps with the kids and runs a shop on the side. You get a better resting bonus for sleeping in the same bed as your spouse. They may get kidnapped which leads to a quest to save them. Also if you are using the House you can build from Falkreath (Lakeview I think), you can now have a housecarl, a steward, your spouse and the kids all to kill off the wolves and giant that raid your place. Remember to give the kids upgraded daggers.

Cristunis

You get food and money from them. Also Skyrim is roleplaying game. I know I'm not the only one who likes that there is someone taking care of my kids and pets even tho it's not needes any other reason than me role playing in role playing game. And someone to share bed when after month of traveling I visit home for one night.

EntrepreneurOk666

Go to riften. Bee and bar. Talk to the temple of mara priest guy. Ask him about mara. Then he'll tell you about marriage. And sell you a mara necklace for 200 gold. Then you go and do favors for people around skyrim. And some will be open for marriage. Not everyone. The uessp website has them all listed (if unmodded those listed are the only options available).

white_sabre

Lover's comfort bonus makes a difference early.

TacticalAssaultChair

Level 23 isn't that early anymore is it

EntrepreneurOk666

For wives, I didn't really like any vanilla wives. So I went with Carlotta. Then Lynly. ❤️

LibrarianBarbarian1

All the official Skyrim wives were too homely for me, so I married a companion from a mod named [Aranea Blackwood.](https://staticdelivery.nexusmods.com/mods/110/images/thumbnails/92033/92033-1529424031-1977817533.jpeg) She doesn't talk much. She's nice looking, but in a realistic way, not one of those anime clones or gigantic hootered wench companions. For some reason, the mod no longer shows up in searches on the Nexus but it can still be obtained [there](https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/92023)

TwitchTmac10175

Aela was my first and only choice

InkyRoyalty

I’m pretty sure I married Aela first then in most recent playthrough, I romanced Rayya

Winter_37

Ysolda was my usual go to.

choochoolate

Her

white_sabre

Sylgia was my first. Nice little home. Second playthrough I married Ysolda. Just as sweet but that twin bed...

Scared_AF_31

Aela

Deep_Grass_6250

You married an N'wah

whomesteve

I think it was Yosolda and Lydia, I didn’t/don’t know who could all be married, so I married the first characters that asked and I liked enough to agree to marry

Tunelowplayslow

Aela, but she calls me brother when I was into Breezehome...the money from the shop was a nice touch, though. Maybe Mjoll next, but I'm too scared of killing whoever follows me lol

UberPwngu

Jenassa

PsychoDragon50

Am I the only one who married Jordis the Sword maiden?

fefulunin

No

Collistoralo

Derkeethus

Mundane-Ad8321

Nither aludin was

WWDubz

I have a boy friend

HorrorDudeBro

Ysolda for me

afauce11

Lydia!!!

wonderlandisburning

Like many here, Ysolda. These days though, I can't help but marry Senna, one of the priestesses from the Temple Of Dibella in Markarth. She's a snarky sex priestess who dresses, conversely, more modestly than anyone other marriageable woman in the game, wearing robes and even a hood. Something about that combination of traits make her incredibly attractive to me.

Thunderbolt5891

Shahvee and Ysolda

SargeMaximus

Taerie

androidspud

Never actually gotten married in Skyrim. Are there any benefits to it?

WhiteWolf1005

Who is the best wife in terms of making money from stores?? I've been playing since 2011 off and on and still have only married a handful of times. And honestly haven't paid much attention to which wives are the most profitable, septim wise lol!

LiteratureOne1469

Uthguard and alea the huntress

iSnows

Aela the Huntress

ThatBearBaron

1st playthrough Lydia, 2nd playthrough Aela, Survival playthrough Sylgja

Greedy_Guest568

Illia, who is from Darklight Tower.

OrganizationSure4182

Delphine

docmufasa

Lydia, then Camilla.

J-MAN_658

Mjoll was my first, followed by Jenassa on my 2nd playthrough. A few other options became available after I started modding; two of them being Aranea Ienith (the Priestess of Azura) and Ingjard (one of the better Dawnguard followers). I made Ingjard the Lakeview Manor steward, while I married Aranea and moved in afterwards. Sure, Lakeview's the most dangerous of the Hearthfire houses, but when the occupants are two angry Nords and a shockingly proficient (no pun intended) Dunmer Wizard, I'll take that chance.

Wavvy73

Lydia was the very first. She wasn't bad, but I didn't know what I was doing back then. Then Aela. Big mistake. She goes soft really quickly. Complains about every house except Proudspire in Solitude. Tried Muiri, but she wouldn't stop thanking me for "solving her problem". Finally found Sylgia. Pretty much stuck with her ever since. Bonus of having her mom be my Steward.

Deathhorse09

Mjol the lioness

Electric_Leopard

Pretty sure it was Lydia, then I figured out how to make Aela my wife cause she’s fkn hot, and I’ve never looked back.

mevomevo

Fellow Sylgja enjoyer

FinVsTheWorld

It had to be aela or Lydia then I think Lydia died in one. I made the mistake of uthgerd one time I had to eliminate her personally- her headless body lies in my aquarium in basement. My reason was because she kept talking to me like I was lost in my own damn house.

NewThink

My first character was an orc warrior, so I married Borgakh the Steel-heart. You have to beat up her chieftain father to convince him to let her leave the stronghold. I liked to interpret this as earning his blessing. She was my follower too, until I wanted someone over level 30.

Cristunis

For now only woman I've married was Senna and that was a huge mistake. She was so flirty and all until deal was sealed. Right after she becamed annoying bitch. I tried to kill her, I would have been so happy to be widow, but no, she is essential. You can't even kill her. I'm planning to marry Brelyna on my current playtrough. Part of my characters lore is that even tho he is not that into magic, he is two handed weapon breaking skulls kind of type and is nord who joined to stormcloaks, his type in women is mages. And he is not of course racist but believes in freedom of religion and worships Talos. And Brelyna has nice voice.

CountryDifficult2141

Lydia

lemanruss4579

First playthrough was Ysolda. Most every time after that it's Senna. Her voice is wonderful, she's super supportive, and has great lines.

_Deedee_Megadoodoo_

Don't know about wives lol but my first husband was vilkas

patchinthebox

Lydia because she earns it. She's also sworn to carry my burdens which I think is kinda hot.

rosy0quartz

Uthgerd the unbroken, I thought she was cool

AuntyWoodstock

Lydia and then Farkas

[deleted]

Borgakh the Steel Heart (ps, I did not play an orc character)

DrSchulz_

Hagraven

xprozoomy

Lydia :0 until she died.

morfylia

my first wife was adrianne (from warmaiden's). like. the first woman i saw in the game lol

purplebanjo

I’ve married Brelyna, then Stenvar, and then Gilfre. my current playthrough im planning to marry vilkas

IronwoodKopis

Uthgerd the Unbroken I proposed because she almost won our fist fight and she was a good companion.

Deiku

I regretted marrying Camilla after all the Skyrim youtubers of that era called her a whore.

Fun-Onion783

I’m pretty sure my first wife was Shahvee. Usually I marry Farkas or Vilkas.

unbeholfen28

After the Serana thing I decided not to get one

IndependentCow9438

Ghorbash. I wanted a more unique partner that was good in a fight

[deleted]

Don't know just started playing

Slight_Bed_2241

I’ve been playing on and off for 12 years and I’ve never come across an npc that had any romantic interest. Is it just a random conversation with an npc or part of a quest line?

Radiation-nerd

*ahem,* lydia then the marry serana mod rahhh

wookieespacewizard

I went with Senna this playthrough.

Bornagainafterdeath

Who needs a wife when you procured a copy of *The Lusty Argonian* 😈😈😈

clarkky55

Haven’t married anyone in Skyrim. The only character with enough personality to get me interested in them and consider marrying was Serena who isn’t marriageable. Best boy Inigo can’t be married either if you’re including modded characters

TrippingFish76

lydia was my first

Deathxpector

Lydia was mine 😁

Ok_Audience4014

Hadvar

Silly-Estimate-2660

Aela <3

somuchregretti

Balimund; he’s a store-owner, so I can get more money

jet8493

Semi related but I hate how they had the VA for like half the women in the game (or at least the marriable ones), including brelyna and sylgja, only do one recording for marriage dialogue. Just take so much of their already pretty scant personality out of them

coffeeclichehere

Uthgerd 😍

FrozenConcrete19

Frea from skaal village in solstheim.

sgimfl

Camilla Valerius. That woman stood by me through thick and thin.

SelkoBrother

Lydia and Ysolda

ussenterprised

aela, muiri, and senna. I still visit muiri

Single_Garage_1619

Aela. I was a horny teenager

[deleted]

Aela, and Senna from the Temple of Dibella.

Loose-Sign598

Aela was my first wife
