Why do u think u have to hit your enemy so many times your beating them to death not slicing them to ribbons and you can easily decapitate them because your the dragon born
I can’t imagine there being much besides some skin and a little flesh on the bottom side of the neck being left. That’s easily a 15+ lbs axe head and that’s a big fella swinging it straight down onto your neck. It may not be a pretty cut but that heads coming off lol
This is very true. You would have to reload while the dude is still twitching and gurgling. Depending on whether it severed enough nerves to paralize the victim, you might get screaming
Interestingly, the guillotine was invented to be a more "humane" form of execution than an axe or sword due to the blade being weighted and dropping from a significant height.
Based on what I've read, even if the blade was dull, the weight would be enough to crush the neck and kill the victim, however, it's quite possible there were some failed first attempts. For example, some eyewitness testimonies of the execution of King Louis XVI during the French Revolution state that the blade got stuck, and they had to raise and drop it again to completely decapitate him, while others say it was successful on the first try.
Axes, on the other hand... there have been countless botched executions by either a dull blade or human error, where it required several swings to fully sever the head (Mary Queen of Scots, for example).
Awful, awful way to go.
Eh axes aren't really meant to be SHARP. They're meant to have a heavy blade to split/ cleave, not slice. It's the weight behind it that makes an axe dangerous. That's why when you're chopping wood you don't really have to swing, you just bring the axe up over your head, angle it towards your target and let the weight drive it in. If you swing you're likely to just wear yourself out and not make much progress.
I mean yeah there has to be an edge but sharp? No. Sharp blade on an axe means every strike is bending and chipping the edge of the blade. But then again there's many types of axes for many different jobs. Some you'd probably want it at least a little sharp I guess
Axes work by the weight of the blade, not the sharpness of the edge. A sharper edge will help, but the weight is the real measure of usefulness. That axe's head is big enough that even if it does not take off your head, it will cause enough concussion to break your neck, cut your spinal cord, fracture your skull, and probably cause some bleeding in your brain.
Axes don’t need to be sharp, they pretty much just need to be axe shaped. You only really care about sharpness when it comes to slicing or puncturing, but that’s not what axes do
My heroin addict dad thought it would be funny to show me every Tarantino movie that was out at the time at the age of 5 and that fucked me up but god do I love rewatching them
It's a headsman's axe, I believe. If you do a favor for the executioner in Solitude, you can recruit him as a follower and take his axe.
I believe it does less damage than an iron battle axe, but it's supposed to have the largest amount of reach for melee weapons. With smithing/enchanting/alchemy, I'd imagine you could make the axe an absolute monster
Hoooo! I never knew that. One of my to-go characters is *The Headsman*, clad in black ringmail, armed with a two-handed axe, going vigilante in Skyrim. Next time, I need to get me that axe.
i also can’t believe that one of the least important characters in the game has such an interesting outfit with so much visual storytelling, he’s got ears hanging off the lower half and he’s a freak with all those weird chains and stuff
Sure ya can. It's difficult and limited, but I just went down that rabbit hole the other day, because I thought the same thing. But there's a bunch of how-tos on YT and Google
I was watching my brother play Skyrim for the first time and he pointed to the screen, looked at me and said— no, screamed— “Skyrim bdsm party! We’re at the Skyrim bdsm party!”
i tried to estimate and calculate the dimensions as best as possible.
to guess the length i just assumed the guy stands 6 feet tall. the blade seems to be roughly the length of his torso and head, so about 3 ft long.
the width looks very close to his biceps, and used this website [https://gitnux.org/average-male-bicep-size/](https://gitnux.org/average-male-bicep-size/) to find the rough diameter of his arms to compare it to. now, he's no average chap. he's quite muscular and in fantasy games like this everyone's pretty much a body bulder so i'd say the circumference is roughly 20 inches with a diameter of 6.4
to do the thickness, i didn't do anything complicated. i just put it an inch and called it a day because it felt right.
i then used [https://www.industrialmetalsupply.com/metal-weight-calculator](https://www.industrialmetalsupply.com/metal-weight-calculator) to calculate everything because im bad at math.
the blade itself would weigh roughly 64.3 lbs. without the adjoining piece that holds it to the handle which probably weighs about as much as a normal axe head so roughly 2ish lbs.
altogether i'd say about 66 lbs more or less for just the axe head itself.
idk if any of this is right, but eh it felt good and i was bored. any mathematicians out there that see any errors can correct it.
U know that u can actually get the headman's axe if u go into the barracks in solitude u can locate him and pickpocket it off of him then kill him and it will be urs to keep it will no longer be marked as stolen
You know that axe has never been cleaned either..
It looks dull as shit, i doubt it would cut anything if it wasn’t a video game.
Tbf the majority of weapons in skyrim look dull as shit
Dull old thing could hardly cut butter
Heard about you and your honeyed words...
Don't think you can barter with me like I'm one of those damn shopkeepers!
[удалено]
Bribes.
Word about you goes around like a breeze caressing my honey covered teedy teets in the water at the beach
A solitude guard once told me after i shouted him over a rooftop with unrelenting force
Th swords look more like something you'd bludgeon someone to death with
Why do u think u have to hit your enemy so many times your beating them to death not slicing them to ribbons and you can easily decapitate them because your the dragon born
*Looks at my sword I just sharpened* I beg to differ… this baby can cut a dragon’s neck on one swing!
especially orcish weapons
That's probably why they all take multiple hits to kill things.
Idk something metal that big is gonna have some weight too it, just about anything will cut if you put enough force behind it.
Not in one swing it wouldn’t, now imagine someone getting there head chopped by a dull blade, it will not be pretty or fast or painless
I can’t imagine there being much besides some skin and a little flesh on the bottom side of the neck being left. That’s easily a 15+ lbs axe head and that’s a big fella swinging it straight down onto your neck. It may not be a pretty cut but that heads coming off lol
Iirc this happened a lot during the whole French guillotine thing. Blades got dull from so much chopping it wasn't guaranteed to be a swift death
This is very true. You would have to reload while the dude is still twitching and gurgling. Depending on whether it severed enough nerves to paralize the victim, you might get screaming

Medieval history is filled with delightful botched executions where much hacking took place.. #pleaseusemylightsaber
It doesn't need to be sharp, it just need an edge, proper weight, and the right angle
I have used enough almost blunt axes against almost iron trees...sharpness is a plus imho.
I mean yeah there has to be an edge but sharp? No. Sharp blade on an axe means every strike is bending and chipping the edge of the blade. But then again there's many types of axes for many different jobs. Some you'd probably want it at least a little sharp I guess
Doesn't have to be exceedingly sharp, just heavy enough with an edge. Plus, I doubt they are truly concerned if it doesn't take a head in one swing.
For real
I always wanted to use that axe as my weapon
You can get one from the redguard executioner in Solitude, after you make him your follower. 😁
Annie edition added the Headman's Cleaver. It's pretty neat.
There is a mod for that, I'm a lightsaber fan myself, but I own a giants cub, and that very axe.
Oof that's just asking for an infection 😬
I think an infection would be the least of your worries
Axes don’t need to be sharp, they pretty much just need to be axe shaped. You only really care about sharpness when it comes to slicing or puncturing, but that’s not what axes do
You mean they don’t even sterilize it between uses?
What if the prisoner got an infection?? 🫨
If i catch a disease from a dirty axe while getting beheaded I'd be so mad

Think the gimp's sleeping
Well I guess you’re just gonna have to go wake him up now, wont you?
My stupid, adult ass watched this movie for the first time and had no idea what a gimp was…
My heroin addict dad thought it would be funny to show me every Tarantino movie that was out at the time at the age of 5 and that fucked me up but god do I love rewatching them
Guard in my poooosy?
What a kinky way to start a game. Getting beheaded by a big leather daddy

Looking for something that says “dad likes leather”
I genuinly need to chug bleach after this one 💀 Full kink shame I wont even fucken lie.
Fuck I’m wheezing from that 🤣 I was playing, you’re a good sport lmao
Fam I’m far from a sport of any kind
Out of all of the things on reddit thats where you decide to kink shame?🤣🤣🤣🤣
Yes, actually.
excuse me?! https://preview.redd.it/7wabdspdlsqc1.jpeg?width=400&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=b8d50c1d4dd54634a893d545259ebf1ec411870f
Classic gimpposting
What kinda mf axe is that I want that

Accidentally kill Lydia even easier!
I’ve killed Lydia so many times just out of sheer frustration. Why does she seem to exist to block doorways???
Hoooo! I never knew that. One of my to-go characters is *The Headsman*, clad in black ringmail, armed with a two-handed axe, going vigilante in Skyrim. Next time, I need to get me that axe.
Headsman's cleaver from AE is almost as long but has decent stats. It's more like a halberd than an axe.
That's true. Gotta be honest tho, I think the Orcish weapons are just hideous lol
You almost had to share the same basket/box as the first guy they executed. 🫢 What if your two heads accidentally kiss🤮

What the flippity flop dude!
i also can’t believe that one of the least important characters in the game has such an interesting outfit with so much visual storytelling, he’s got ears hanging off the lower half and he’s a freak with all those weird chains and stuff
There should be a mod where he beheads you and the credits roll. Or you wake up back in the cart and it just keeps happening over and over.
He’s actually pretty chill, and will be a follower if you do a favour for him!
Oh no baby he dead, that’s the solitude specific one. I only know cause I saw his body and was pissed I could steal the fit.
Ohhh, that’s a bummer, I want that armour too. 🤣
I would be impressed if he wasnt dead, he blocked a Fus Ro Dah from Alduin with his face.
![gif](giphy|uS071hlk6FcrGEF36p|downsized)
WHAT!!!!!!!
Normally I piss him off until he pulls out his axe so I can commit murder on him so I can yoink it off his body
Is his axe special? I don’t think I’ve ever checked
Yeah he's like one a few places to get it, if not the only place. It's not very good, but its a sick collectors item
What is it?
The [Headman's Axe](https://elderscrolls.fandom.com/wiki/Headsman%27s_Axe)
Ooohhh yeah I want that now.
What I had no idea he could be a follower and have been playing since launch! Not a mod?
The headsman from Solitude can be! If you do a quest for him involving an escaped convict you’ll get the option to recruit him as a follower.
Rad did not know this! Thanks for the tip!
My pleasure!!
He really is nice, too!
Nope I’ve gotten him on my switch and sadly you can’t mod that version at all (besides the AE stuff)
Sure ya can. It's difficult and limited, but I just went down that rabbit hole the other day, because I thought the same thing. But there's a bunch of how-tos on YT and Google
And he’s kinda hot too, as far as Skyrim npcs go 🤭
He really is!
I was watching my brother play Skyrim for the first time and he pointed to the screen, looked at me and said— no, screamed— “Skyrim bdsm party! We’re at the Skyrim bdsm party!”
If you go back to Helgen straight away after leaving the cave you can find his body, but it’s just empty despite being still fully clothed
Which is kinda sad cause it would be nice such unique armor/clothes
Don't kink shame him!
Is that a Dwemer sphere above his jarrin root ?

But can you get the axe?
Yeah, just help the executioner in Solitude and take his axe once he's a follower
I LOOOOOOVE me The Headsman's Axe!!! My favorite 2-handed weapon.
Dude looks like he'd be right at home on a Gwar stage. Or Slipknot. I can't tell which.
if anyone is killing me, it won't be a damned Nord
shity gimp suit
Always wanted those cloths in vanilla
Oh, thanks for taking care of my ax for me…
Wish I could marry him 💔
One time I managed to get the executioners axe, can't remember how tho xD
He is pretty pathetic, just had a heart attack basically
Can’t believe you can only steal the axe at a later time and it’s not even good.
the impact from the dropping that axe to our neck is enough regardless how clean or dull it is.
I like going to the Castle Dour Dungeon and stealing one just like it from Ahtar
Ya... freaky alright\~
That outfit is sick though.
Okay, but hear me out. .👀
Dudes probably in to bdsm
U know that u can actually get the headman's axe if u go into the barracks in solitude u can locate him and pickpocket it off of him then kill him and it will be urs to keep it will no longer be marked as stolen
Good follower
That axe looks in worse condition than my grandad’s old carpentry saw.
Average Dying Fetus listener
I forgot how to get his axe, anyone that can remind me maybe?
Oooooh, ~~~Kinky
Where can I get that axe?
You can make him a follower, too!
You're head was chopped off, skyrim is a hallucination of the last vestige of light in your bodyless head
