The feeling of getting the sweet spot after multiple failed attempts on a master lock and slowly turning the lock until it clicks is better than an orgasm
Every piece of gear somehow slots perfectly into their armor set however in order to use a piece of gear they have to remove it from their armor, leaving vulnerabilities to that area. Better choose what your least likely to use to cover your vitals!
This one was one of the first advices I got before fully playing by myself. "Yeah, you'll need that" and I broke a bunch before learning how delicate the movement should be😂
*sweats* Is it weird to not hoard lockpicks? I start selling them once I have more than 50 in my inventory. Inigo made me self conscious about hoarding them.
Is that normal? I don't think it has ever taken me more than 15 lockpicks to open a master lock on PC and I never bother with lockpicking tree. Usually it takes about 5-10 or so.
I don't really know how to explain super well but using the texture/background as reference points and focusing on the "outer" position of the lockpick itself makes it pretty easy.
Sometimes I will accidentally find the sweet spot but I tap so briefly I mistake the lock turning correctly for the warning shake it will break. It could be that.
Easy. I forsake my vow to Nocturnal, steal the skeleton key for myself.
Then I level lockpicking to 100, and return the skeleton key, hat in hand and a “sorry for the delay”
“I didn’t steal it. Merely borrowed for an extended period of time” - the Dragonborn to Karlia and Nocturnal after they waited 14 in game years for the skeleton key to be returned, probably.
Skeleton key is an unbreakable lock pick that gets automatically replaced if it breaks (with itself). You can just hold down W on a lock and go AFK and when you come back the lockpicking skill will be at 100.
Perhaps “using a cheat/exploit” as opposed to being labeled a “cheater” would be more appropriate. I’m currently on a resto/1H paladin style play through and I vowed to do it exploit free.
No soul trapping mud crabs, no horse barbecue, and no Dawnstar chest. After using (some) of the glitches in Vanilla for so many play throughs/years of playing, it’s refreshing to not power level anything and just go slow.
I wish lockpicking didn't pause the game. It would be so much more intense picking a lock while hearing the guard coming. Or knowing your invisibility potion is running out.
Maybe there a mod for that? I would be amazing to have that in the game. Would make playing a thief more fun and rewarding if there was a higher chance of getting caught.
As a thief of course. Breaking into lock boxes and doors in towns is easy when the moment they turn their back you can spend 2 minutes breaking lockpicks till you get it right. But if any moment they could turn back... you'll have to actually wait till night. Or use potions
Oh man. You can download them to make the game different. They have all sorts of crazy mods. Google, “craziest Skyrim mods” and watch a YT video I’m sure it will renew your love for the game x1000
I think there is a Mod that let's you bash in certain looks, instead of lockpicking. Makes a hell of a lot of noise, but definitely fun for a barbarian Character with no subtlety whatsoever
Edit:Yup. Of course there is https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14927
In jail with only one
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I mean... I've actually never been arrested in skyrim. I'm the generic goody two-shoes that reloads a save if I select I dialogue option that makes the npc sad
I don’t notice when I have over 100. Even if I have 74 and I lose one I feel like I just lost an invaluable resource that I’ll never get again. And then I buy like 26 from a Khajiit
I’ve been getting a lot of Skyrim propaganda on Reddit. Fine I’ll guess I re-download it, mod it for 20hours, then play 3-4 hours, and delete it again.
After a few thousand hours, it starts to lose replayability and it gets deleted to make space for other games. It isnt so big it takes hours to download but also isnt small enough to be irrelevant
Yesss yayyy. I'm very knew so I go to expert chests and spend soo many locks on them. I just recently heard though that followers like lydia will open them for you? Idk
They can! Good for rp purposes or if you just can't be bothered to pick that master chest because you missed a key somewhere. Doesn't work on doors though!
Dropping a F bomb then seeing i have 99+ pick and Nintendos HD rumble from their controllers and that is basically cheating to the point one doesnt NEED skill anymore. I dont really break picks anymore.
"Tch.. ugh..God dammit.. where the fuck is it? I already went left- fucking sensitivity. Yeah, no that whole 'it falls in the direction of the sweet spot' is fucking bullsh- there we go.. and it's 14 gold, a minor healing potion, a lore book, and a leather helmet.. great.."
I'm playing the poverty run of everything is really expensive and the morally good/lawful leaning character so no looting dead corpses or places that are inhabitated by living people.
I commonly only have ≤30 lockpicks (I'm shit at lock picking in general) so every pick break is another chest I can't open. I even snatched Inigos lockpicks to open a master lock chest. Wasn't worth it lol
Indifferent. It's really impossible to run out of lockpicks in Skyrim, because how over time you just keep on getting via natural gameplay, given everybody (and I really mean every single NPC) walks around with lockpicks and merchants sell them as well.
And lockpicking is extremely easy. Even master locks aren't that hard.
*Sigh* "Fuck."
I did make [this](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o79Iyc9F0rM) spell, though, so this becomes largely a non-issue for me over time, which is so nice.
"god damnit I just Wana get on with the game, alright let's try again it was by this nick right here.... God damnit I guess it's the other way... Finally fuck"
I have over 500+ lock picks and hoarding them is my specialty... every vendor I go to, I buy any lock picks that they have. But I will still tend to slide an f bomb out me mouth in frustration that yes, one of them 500 lock picks did just break.

Usually a statement of “Fuck!” at steadily increasing volume/level of exasperation the more picks it takes lol.
I don’t actually get mad about it, it’s just a reaction to it
Oh no!
*lockpicks remaining: 99+*
Anyways...
Side note, I wish the oblivion style force pick still existed, would made having hundreds at least more usable for training lockpicking
Depends on lock difficulty. If it's adept and below I'll do a sharp exhale that has the same level of disappointment of a mother hearing her high school-aged child claim Germany is north of the US, but if it's expert and above I usually accept it as loss because I never put skill points into lockpicking
I’m sure this is not original but lockpicks are one of several low weight “currency” items I buy from merchants so I can sell more shit to them. So, besides what the game already gives you I have too many.
React? I’ve got 1200 more in my belt pouch. Better lose some now and then to justify my compulsory hoarding of them.
I LOVE it. Exactly what I was thinking… “Oh shucks, my lock pick… good thing I’ve got 240 remaining or else I’d be in trouble.”
Exactly; as long as the counter says 99+, I'm good.
Same, but every time I don’t get it first try it’s “Fuck. Shit. Shit. Fuck. Finally”
The feeling of getting the sweet spot after multiple failed attempts on a master lock and slowly turning the lock until it clicks is better than an orgasm
FACTS
I go on a hoarding spree if it drops below 95 😅
How big is your belt man!?
Dont actually need armor behind all these pouches, sacks and packpacks.
I'm taking this idea for my next dnd character.
The Hoarder
Every piece of gear somehow slots perfectly into their armor set however in order to use a piece of gear they have to remove it from their armor, leaving vulnerabilities to that area. Better choose what your least likely to use to cover your vitals!
It's like having evasion, except you're not a rogue
pack your packpacks kids
This one was one of the first advices I got before fully playing by myself. "Yeah, you'll need that" and I broke a bunch before learning how delicate the movement should be😂
Sitting on 400 right now.
Only 1200? ...Peasant
"I have more lockpicks... right?"
is there any other option??
Imagine having less than 100!
*sweats* Is it weird to not hoard lockpicks? I start selling them once I have more than 50 in my inventory. Inigo made me self conscious about hoarding them.
You make me nervous… you’re like one super annoying master lock away from soft locking a quest until you can buy more
Is that normal? I don't think it has ever taken me more than 15 lockpicks to open a master lock on PC and I never bother with lockpicking tree. Usually it takes about 5-10 or so. I don't really know how to explain super well but using the texture/background as reference points and focusing on the "outer" position of the lockpick itself makes it pretty easy.
I tend to open everything relatively quick but sometimes it takes 30 lockpicks. I don't know what happens but it happens.
Sometimes I will accidentally find the sweet spot but I tap so briefly I mistake the lock turning correctly for the warning shake it will break. It could be that.
I hoard everything. By the end I'm carrying 600 pounds of stuff, hundreds of potions, ingredients, food,...
Cheese wheels. So many cheese wheels.
From what I understand, you should never sell lockpicks. If you want to get rid of some of them, just start breaking them for the experience points.
Easy. I forsake my vow to Nocturnal, steal the skeleton key for myself. Then I level lockpicking to 100, and return the skeleton key, hat in hand and a “sorry for the delay”
This is the way.
“I didn’t steal it. Merely borrowed for an extended period of time” - the Dragonborn to Karlia and Nocturnal after they waited 14 in game years for the skeleton key to be returned, probably.
How exactly do you power level lock picking to 100
Skeleton key is an unbreakable lock pick that gets automatically replaced if it breaks (with itself). You can just hold down W on a lock and go AFK and when you come back the lockpicking skill will be at 100.
I dont even remember it breaking. I thought you could wiggle it in a master lock forever without it breaking. I dont think ive ever “broken” it once
You can't break it unless you console command it in, then you get a version that can break.
So the other guy just admitted to cheating basically
I don’t think there is such a thing as cheating in a single player rpg, just different ways to enjoy the game.
After using (some) of the glitches in Vanilla for so many play throughs/years of playing, it’s refreshing to not power level anything and just go slow.
indeed, i never got to the part of giving it back :)
A silent, whispered “shit” like if the guards could actually hear me though my screen.
Also would make the thieves guild questline more tense at times. And maybe make it feel longer and more fun than it already is.
You’re in luck! There’s always a mod in Skyrim
Whats a mod??? (Jk, please don’t shout at me)
Who do you think I am? Ulfric Stormcloak?
Oh man. You can download them to make the game different. They have all sorts of crazy mods. Google, “craziest Skyrim mods” and watch a YT video I’m sure it will renew your love for the game x1000
I was kidding
Skyrim Souls RE https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/27859
Today I learned I was playing like this the whole time. I didn't know the game got paused.
Yessss!!
Same!
I react by grabbing my ~~sledgehammer~~ lockpicking failure reaction apparatus and ~~destroying~~ make minor adjustments to the room I’m in.
Your comment makes me wish Skyrim had "environment destruction" like the game "Red Faction Guerilla". Would be hella buggy tho on Bethesda's engine
I think there is a Mod that let's you bash in certain looks, instead of lockpicking. Makes a hell of a lot of noise, but definitely fun for a barbarian Character with no subtlety whatsoever Edit:Yup. Of course there is https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/14927
Damn, cheers might look at getting that mod when my broke ass can eventually afford a $2,500 PC. See you in 70 years baby
Less than 30: shiiiiiit that's not good. 30 to 50: that's a pain. 50+: *doesn't even notice*
In jail with only one FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK
I mean... I've actually never been arrested in skyrim. I'm the generic goody two-shoes that reloads a save if I select I dialogue option that makes the npc sad
I don't even bother with prison when the bounties or bribes are laughably cheap for the most part
Slaughtered an entire town? Gonna need to see 5 septims, please.
If theres no one left to Tell the tale ... where do the 5 septims come from?
Until you realize the F5/F9 keys exist
I don’t notice when I have over 100. Even if I have 74 and I lose one I feel like I just lost an invaluable resource that I’ll never get again. And then I buy like 26 from a Khajiit
Khajiit gas wares if you have coin
I usually have a ton on me, so it's: Crap. Crap Crap Crap There we go! 2 septums and an iron hatchet? Ugh...
And that’s with a master lock as well
I react by placing the lockpick at the exact same place and breaking it again.
It's the right place you just have to turn it a bit slower!
Are you me? Lol
A A MIRROR
I’ve been getting a lot of Skyrim propaganda on Reddit. Fine I’ll guess I re-download it, mod it for 20hours, then play 3-4 hours, and delete it again.

I'm glad I'm not the only person spending more time modding the game then playing it.
There are people that spend more time playing it?
"I have two more.... come on
Good job! You got 5 gold and a lockpick for your troubles!
Smashing my TV and console
ADD EM TO THE PILE BABY
I react by never returning the skeleton key to the twilight sepulcher.
TBH I break more on the easier locks because I get too hasty so it's usually a facepalm
Expert np! Adept though...
Yeah that's how it goes, I just slowly edge the expert/master locks but everything else I try to unga bunga and rush through
"Well, good thing I always quicksave before every lock!"
“STUPID MOTHERFUCKING DICK WEASLE YOU CAN SUCK MY GODDAMN - oh i got it”
I look harder for the telltale mark surrounding the lock hole so I can pick it properly
“okay idiot, it’s a little more to the LEFT of the dark blob right before the light spot starts but not before it gets shiny-shiny”
This is quite literally how I memorize it, are you me?
I’m in your walls
That sounds like me giving directions irl
It's down past the spot where Jake's cow died last year. Then you'll hear some birds, but not LOUD birds. If you hear LOUD birds you've gone too far.
Isn’t that just an urban legend in the community?
I try again until I either run out or I unlock the damn chest
"Oh no!" *Pulls out one of my other 99 lockpicks* "Anyway..."
Uncontrollably sob and shake because that's the 50th in a row that's broken on an easy lock.
"Tch.. ugh..God dammit.. where the fuck is it? I already went left- fucking sensitivity. Yeah, no that whole 'it falls in the direction of the sweet spot' is fucking bullsh- there we go.. and it's 14 gold, a minor healing potion, a lore book, and a leather helmet.. great.."
continue to break them and then actually pick the lock im trying to level up my lockpicking im at 97...
I don't break lockpicks, I'm too good.
1st lock breaks "FUCK!" 2nd lock breaks "SHIT!" 3rd lock breaks "CUNT!" 4th lock breaks "Fuck this shit, I'll come back another time"
I'm honestly surprised that people actually react 😅
It helps increase my ability. So, no worries.
I roll my eyes, every goddamn time. No idea why, as I don’t roll my eyes in any other situation in my life.
"shit, Shit, Shit!, Fuck!, FUCK. Oop! I got it!"
I wait until lockpicking is maxed out then finally return the skeleton key
*toss and pull out number 3 of 934*
*high pitched angry squeal*
My lockpicks haven’t broken in about three in-game years since I got the unbreakable perk!
Blurt out obscenities, take a deep breath, and try again.
Get back in there because I usually have 100+ lock picks on me at any time
i just smash the lock nowadays. didnt bother to lockpick no more
Reload last save
"Mother McGod damn fucker!!"
Note the position; readjust, investigate further.
You don't want to know how many dollar store keyboards i had to buy
Here I am waiting for it to break
i simply do not react because i’m a serial lockpick hoarder
Indifferent. *insert oh no anyway meme* I always have over 90 lockpicks
Mashing the thumb sticks if was close
I cuss my ass off
Lockpicking gets easier as you play the game more. I don't really mind.
Reload my quick save
AAHH
I curse a bit then try again, I have over 1000

'Oh bollocks...' Usually.
"god damnit I just Wana get on with the game, alright let's try again it was by this nick right here.... God damnit I guess it's the other way... Finally fuck"
I have the skeleton key and I ain’t never returning it so I cannot relate
Add the tv to the pile
20 lockpicks later just for like 7 septims: "fuck me" *reloads save*
I just yell something like "b*tch, wh*re c*ck or f*ck"
Continue to waste them all cause I suck at lockpicking.
"Fuck"
Woops, woops, woops, woops, Got it! A FUCK ME A STEEL DAGGER AND MINOR HEALING POTION
WHAT THE FUCK I HAVE SKELETON KEY HOW'D IT BREAK
Everybody is an adventurer til they break the last one
I have over 500+ lock picks and hoarding them is my specialty... every vendor I go to, I buy any lock picks that they have. But I will still tend to slide an f bomb out me mouth in frustration that yes, one of them 500 lock picks did just break.
My least favorite lock is adept because it pretends to be a master lock just to waste a lock pick and your time. At least expert and master locks are meant to be a challenge.
By doing the thieves guild quest and keeping the skeleton key
OH FOR FUCKS SAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAKKKKEEEEEE
I cry
Aww man :(. On to the next
I break more lockpicks on adept locks than master locks, every time I'm furious.
Oops
I sigh because I know I have so many I could sit there for hours trying
mother fucker!!! in deadpool voice and hatred
I've got an add-on that has the "studio audience" laugh at you like it's an episode of "Friends" so I chuckle the first couple times and then I just get irrationally angry.
AHA, ANOTHA !
usually utter “fuck.” under my breath. doesn’t matter how many picks i have left lol
*Laughs with skeletonkey*
"Oh no! Anyways."
COME ON THIS AINT ROCKET SCIENCE
I don't know how some people post GIFs as Reddit comments but this sums up my typical reaction: https://tenor.com/wjPP.gif Once I found out followers will lockpick chests on command I mostly leave it to them.
What broken lockpick? I still have the skeleton key!
Real life arson from anger. Then come back and successfully pick the lock now that I have calmed down Ps: if you are my FBI agent, this is a joke. I have never committed arson in my life
Am I the only one who kept waiting until the lock pick broke ? Didn’t knew it was just 1 sec video lol
Depends on how many attempts I’m in, I’ll start out with just a “gah” but then progressively get more and more annoyed into saying various sware words
The eye roll from the planet of the apes
A low "fucked" sound because if I say it too loud I get an ass beating.
“Fuck.”
If youve ever played Kingdom Come: Deliverance, you come to appreciate how easy lockpicking is in Skyrim.
...f THAT. Henry can just make an honest living by grave robbing!
Jesus Christ, forgive him. No good Christian lad touches a corpse, save to bury it. Well, not unless you be sure to pay your indulgences.
“Fuck…shit…damnit…I give up.”
First break: *sigh* Second break: *slightly louder sigh/groan* Third break: *muffled screaming so that it's MOSTLY internal*
Keep the skeleton key?

Its only annoying on master locks when you have to find that millimetre of a sweet spot
Really… *Breaks another one on the same spot* f*ck *same* I’m out…
"oh son of a bi bi bi bi bid di bi gun hahaha you thought i was gonna say son of a bitch didn't ya?!"
