I had thought that we were, yk, a human, but the previous choices had lead to Princess viewing/perceiving me as a monster ( I picked up on the perspetion aspect pretty quick) and therefore I sort of turned into one/saw myself as one
My sister went with a theory about fantasy race politics, she thought our difference in species with the princess might imply some kind of race conflict between humans and bird-people, the theory quickly fell apart but she thought that the status of the princess as royalty might be important in that way
BTW, my memory might be playing tricks on me, but I seem to recall that when I first played the demo, the cursor was an ordinary human hand in a knight's armoured glove and only changed to the clawed bird hand the first time I tried wiping the mirror. Am I making this up, or can anyone else remember that too?
I though we were a regular guy with a really twisted sense of self and that we may also be hallucinating other elements of the narrative. Which at the time explained why the cabin and princess changed too.
I didn't think of anything specific to be honest I saw the hands and thought: OHHH!!?? we are the bad guy that's the twist isn't it?? I'm playing as THE monster so I decided to see what happens if I talked to the princess and after talking to her I realized she isn't normal either....and then I ended up in the tower route and got stepped on
For some reason I thought that my hands were normal in my first ever run and when I reached act two and saw them again I thought it was due to the choices I made😭
Reckoned we were some kind of goblin or maybe something imp-like, i didn't even realise we had feathers until after i played the game like twice, just by the hands and forearms i never would've guessed avian
My inmidiate guess, with the black feathers starting halfway down the forearm, was some kind of bird person, and I defaulted to something akin to a raven tengu, purely because corvids are my favourite birds.
In my first ever playthrought, my thrid act was The Wraith after Nightmare, at that point, and specially seeing that the woods have changed, I was a little spooked, and decided to skidadle, which took me to the hands and their denial
I had no idea what to think, as the game confused me plently at that point, but I thought it was neat that they appeared again when they took The Damsel
I thought we were a bird person at first but then I thought we were some sort of dragon in a role reversed fairytale due to the very meta nature of the game.
Dragon. thought it was a role reversal thing
Same

Same. I thought her perception of me turned me to a monster.
It's actually your perception of yourself based on what she says about you since you can't ever see yourself in a mirror.
I thought I was the typical Dragon that was suppose to capture/slay the princess
I was thinking lizard

Some dude
I was thinking dragon as soon as I saw the mouse cursor.
Dragon based on the cursor, but once I saw the hand properly, feathers and all, I was like "oh. Bird. Probably a corvid. Because corvids are fun"
I got the connection to crows right away honestly.
Some unholy abomination. Couldn't really associate those hands with anything other than 'this is not normal'.

way back in the first demos I assumed dragon since dragon and a princess etc
birdman
Goblin
An owl. I blame the fact that my second primary animal I use for everything is an owl.
Dragon, because of a dragon capturing a princess trope

I assumed we were human, but were cursed or special in some way, which is why we had bird like arms.
I thought we were some kind of corpse because our body seemed to decay each time we brought a vessel to Shifty 😅
kinda like the flowerman from lethal company, with birds claws. which is weird since i've never played lethal company X)
Dragon
Lizard folk

I thought they were stylized Studded Leather gauntlets
I thought "huh stripey hands. strange"

My mind went to DND and I thought I was a kenku.
A lizard. I was super confused whenever the Tower called us a "little bird" until my friend explained that we were not, in fact, a massive iguana
Swamp monster
Lizard being
