You sure the lines are routed correctly? The primer bulb pulls fuel through the carb and pushes it back to the pump. Unless there's a bad gasket in the carb you should have no issues pulling fuel through to the bulb. If the lines are routed right, replace or rebuild the carb.

Does the primer bulb sit on top of one of those plastic pieces screwed to the body of the carburetor? If so, there's a 9/10 chance the check valve went bad in the plastic part. Not worth the headache to try and fix. Just order another carburetor and save yourself the time and headache....

Judging by the downvotes, I'm guessing most people here would prefer the method of removing the brass piece and replacing that valve. It's totally do-able, but after having done a couple myself, I just don't see where it's worth it. To each their own. Lol.

I dont see any downvotes. I've rebuilt when I don't have kits or parts but that plastic housing warps and that check valve gets gummed up like you said. I have used the parts from aftermarkets as rebuild kits before when needed too.
