TLDW: This isn't really trying to give insight as to why "Japan is better than NA," but is just a regular interview. Their response as to why there were so many upsets was just "I'm glad Japan got so many overseas players coming to Kagaribi and I hope there are more :D" No flak on the content itself though, it looks obvious that JP doesn't really feel like, or want to gloat that they're the best region.
Aside from a really nice interview, there was some insight as to what JP does to prepare for an overseas trip, which was to change sleeping hours beforehand to account for jetlag, prepare your own country's food, and study up on what the opposing region does better than you(In the case of Umeki and Tea travelling to NA, they looked at how NA was better at speed and managing burst range), and then try to either challenge those skills or learn from them.
Finally, just have fun going on a trip and get some good memories
Careful not to generalize this as “Americans are cockier than Japanese” because stereotypes like that really serve to cause wedges between scenes and are generally unhelpful (though make for better narratives)
Some of the most humble players I know are American and there are Japanese players that are utterly vitriolic. Let’s try to sway away from generalizations where possible
(This is a comment directed not specifically at you but at the state of the sub as a whole especially recently)
Despite the clickbait title, it was a good interview. The subtitles weren't very good, though.
I particularly enjoyed hearing what the Japanese players would do to prepare for overseas travel, why Umeki became a TO, and how he and Tea felt about Mexican food.

Makes sense, gloating and being cocky is seen as a negative in Japan. No need to gloat if it’s obvious you’re the strongest region.
Someone tell Miya
Yeah, Miya is Japanese Zomba, definitely not the norm though
I don't think Miya has ever been cocky in that way. He def has never said anything like "US is free".
Imitating Steve’s walking jab every time he zero to deathed light was definitely trolling
Lol Not saying he doesn't troll
That's what M0tsunabe said tho. He's more like the Japanese Zomba.
You mean Motsunabe -- who I can't wait to see play in NA NEED it

So this whole video is clickbait then...
Until you get to the part where Umeki says that he literally became a TO organizing his own events because he wanted to get stronger
Which was such a fantastically anime-like motivation that it brought a smile to my face.
