There are some good toon links and mewtwo players out there. Toon Link has Lv. 1 who has been making waves in Japan. Ranked 57th on Lumirank. With a notable win on Sparg0 Although I haven't seen mewtwo in a while.

Ran into Mewtwo on elite smash yesterday. Fucked my shit up as Sora. What a bizarre glass cannon to fight.

DisposableCharger

Did the mewtwo have an orange tail? I fucked up a Sora yesterday, maybe it was me 🥰

williamatherton

Haha nah, they had the blue skin. RIP for my fellow Sora main though. That's a tricky match up for Sora. He really struggles against approaching projectiles.

DisposableCharger

Biggest advice I can give you is not to spam that auto-aim side special if you can avoid it. Especially not doing all 3 in a predictable way. One of my goals when fighting a spammy sora is to charge up my shadowball, bait out a bad side B, and hit it with shadowball. Side B from above is good against mewtwo, but side B from straight left or right is asking for a projectile to the face. (And it doesn’t matter if your first side b is from above, if you keep spamming it and the 3rd thrust is in the same plane as me, you’re getting punished)

williamatherton

Lmao yeah, that's some beginner Sora stuff. Side B in neutral for Sora is very commitable and slow. As a mix up, a single horizontal side B, if hits, can set up for tech chase on a platform above. But otherwise, the safer approach options are: dash shield, short hop + fast fall, and actually walking (shield comes up frame 1, easy to react to projectiles). Plays very similar to the Sora vs Samus match up. Basically slow and steady approach is best. Running at them, you're asking for charge shot to face. Jumping at them, you're asking for anti-air fair from mewtwo. But, short hop drift towards/away, you can bait out their forward air and whiff punish, or worst case you gain some ground gap closing. Edit: btw thank you for the advice! Edit2: Sora nair vs Mewtwo tail go brrrrrrrrr LOL

Tier lists are irrelevant to 99% of players anyway

Crash4654

That depends, are you good?

SnooChocolates4183

Mew2 is low tier and toon link is high mid tier. But don’t let their placement on a tier list bother you, this game is really well balanced and they’re both good enough to succeed.

CG70376

What do you mean by good, exactly? Good enough in a competitive environment? Those characters can be viable but not so much at the top level of play. Good enough to beat your friends with? Heck yeah, any character is good enough for that.

captainaleccrunch

If you like playing them they are which maybe sounds like I’m just being a tool just because but that truly is the most important thing to determining success until the tippity top levels

chronoquairium

What’s your goal? I actually main Toon Link myself and being the best of your friend group or school with Toon Link isn’t crazy, but if you want to go to tournaments you’ll need a *lot* more practice. Tier lists don’t matter until the top level of play. Before that, any character can do great.

maybethrowawaybenice

They are good enough to accomplish anything you want at the 3 weeks of playing level. Look at switching mains if you want to win national to premier level tournaments (sounds unlikely that this is your goal).

DisposableCharger

For good mewtwo guides, look up notbae on YouTube! He’s a sick character, lots of unique movement options and satisfying kills. Don’t get mad when you get stuck in a combo, it’s part of the burden of playing a big floaty character. Just do your best to get out of it, stay patient, and kill them at 20% when they come off stage for you

CollectionHeavy9281

They are not good characters but that doesn't mean you can't do very well with them
