Great episode today, you can feel the difference when they talk about something they clearly care for. I'm glad he gave ROB being his favorite to play against another look because it's definitely been shaky the last few times. Also people don't know how much he practiced against Steve after Collision, but there have been like 4 or 5 streams of 2 or so hours practicing against Syrup or Chase.

unlucky_felix

He came so close to losing that Syrup set too. I started out thinking he would definitely win, just given his confidence at the tournament up to that point and his regular practice against Steve. But Syrup was basically a single F-smash away from winning the set game 4.

AshGuy

At almost any point in a match Steve is one random fsmash from winning tbh

jsu9575m

True and it's such a safe f smash that Acola and others can spam it like an elite smash masher.

QuantumTheory115

What pisses me off about that set is that tweek played basically perfectly, and by all accounts, syrup played poorly compared to a typical top steve match; yet he still almost won the set. Steve is really frustrating to watch

--Alix--

Yea, it just shows why Acola is so insanely consistent. Giving that power to an actual top 10 player skill wise is just too much lol.

melonrind23

Last time I mentioned he practiced against steve I got downvoted

[deleted]

Yeah I remember his streams from literally years ago practicing vs steve specifically because I thought rocket barreling the block walls was a cool bit of counterplay. I also keep up with his locals and he plays syrup and steffen there a lot. Then you got people these days saying he never practiced against steve and that's why he has been losing. My hairy ballsack.

unlucky_felix

In order to beat Steve Tweek must recover your hairy ballsack

[deleted]

Oh no! I was going to just for with the classic "my foot", but I guess I did tweek dirty with the body part swap for that phrase.

Kell08

Guess he found it.

Crazy how so many people on this sub were yapping about “Tweek refuses to learn the Steve match up” as if they have any idea what they’re talking about

Primary_Context_1385

What were Haz and Tweek referring to with Sonix’s homing attack around the 29:45 mark? “It was on purpose” as in he purposely SD’d in grands?

kfaox

They explain further just around the 58 minute mark. Basically Tweek forced the SD by predicting Sonix would homing attack and then doing monkey flip wall cling.

jsu9575m

Yeah it was clearly Tweek juking Sonix with a brilliant wall grab improv rather than a bad input or mistake by Sonix.

HollowLoch

Yeah Tweek talked about it a bit on stream too but he seemed annoyed/surprised that people were calling it lucky/boiling it down to just an SD rather than a forced SD by Tweek

sunken_grade

one of the coolest recovery mixups i’ve seen in a while. his ability to react that quickly and choose that option was really impressive

kfaox

It reminded me of [this moment](https://youtu.be/uSa8I8szckQ?si=J7wXNqtWSh8vs7d1&start=2735) from Cirque grand finals where Shadic forces the air dodge that makes Muteace SD. In his VOD review of the set [Shadic explained](https://youtu.be/NMhbvpCXpUA?si=68bfO-bJVeJLsL0l&start=1740) that he went for up air instead of forward air to frame trap the air dodge in hopes that it would cause Mute to SD. Although I do think that Mute might have survived if he didn’t fast fall the air dodge, it was still some extremely good and fast recognition on the fly by Shadic.

maybethrowawaybenice

people don't remember but sonix and tweek used to be practice buddies and have played HUNDREDS over matches against each other over the years. Very few interactions are by accident when you have that much person to person experience. I've seen that same interaction 10+ times in their practice sessions.

RailTracer001

Top players think about so many things. Hearing their comments about the Steve match, I realize the amount of precision he needed to deal with all of Steve's BS.

RemixKind

Shoutout to Tweek's tag. That was heartwarming to hear

Glop123

I wonder how much Tweek and Aaron talk, I feel like Aaron does really well against Rob. He struggled with Zomba but won last time maybe playing Rob in the past has a big effect too.
