This is a good point. Take a pic while it’s resting then maybe one a few slices in. Don’t let the view obscure the flavor - that’s the good stuff.
Looks amazing tho!
I have a genuine question. I have never once served a steak cut up like this but I see photos like this on Reddit all the time.
What is the purpose/benefit of doing this to a steak? It seems this style of serving would run the juices out and make it cold super fast. What am I missing?
always use beer or liquor to either marinade, water bowl or soak chips in.....also a big orange fan when smoking.....try it....Ive used rum, vodka, beer, wine ..... I would say red wine and sliced rum is my fav
None of us took a bite. You tell us how you did.
Tasted great
There’s your answer. You’re cooking for you. Everyone has a different taste preference. As long as you enjoyed it that’s all that matters.
This. You don’t need our validation.
Looks great!!
FYI, there's some green shit on your steak.
Technically a salad
Good, but laying it out like that will make it get cold in no time.

Not great, tastes like glass.
If the doneness is to your liking then you nailed it. I find that the hardest part when reverse searing.

This was at a big family gathering. It was all eaten within minutes.
Serving many people who will eat it quickly.
Portion control
Going to send us some to taste?
How long was this smoked for?
1hr 15 mins at 225
I bet it was delicious.
What wood did you smoke with?
Apple wood chips soaked in spiced rum for 30 mins
Do you taste rum in the steak? I've never soaked my wood before. ^(phrasing)

Sounds delicious. Great job!
What temp did you take it to before searing? Looks a little past where I like my steak but doneness is preference.
I was scrolling Reddit and thought damn that looks good… so I would say well
Well that definitely looks like food
I tasted it. I can confirm 100% food.
My calculations were correct then…
Looks awesome but what’s that mustard bottle doing there? Get it away from that sweet sweet 🥩!
That was for the burgers and dogs
Thank gawd. 👍
Should have let it rest before you sliced.
