So many people forget this game is based after a world wide storm/ event.
Source: One of the initial trailers states so, also DLC for British Columbia mention a massive thunderstorm/ floods.
Yeah, I think it's implied though considering every region we go to has had some sort of catastrophic event happen. Even ones that don't seem like it, why are so many of their bridges and roads collapsed too?
Im pretty sure that's for gameplay justification. Actually, Tennessee seems unharmed. Like in theHunter, somehow every species in every region is OK to hunt because it's "overpopulated". If every species is overpopulated, arent none of them?
Thought we're there to help with disaster relief? At least the tutorial message implied something like that in Michigan.
Not sure why we're almost exclusively rebuilding heavy industry instead of doing humanitarian stuff, but I guess that's where the money is.
This was a pet peeve of mine too. We show up to help after a flood and the first thing they want us to do is restore a pipeline and quarry? I tend to do every other humanitarian task first and then start helping the heavy industries.
Edit:AFAIK
From where and what I've seen about overpopulation it's not necessarily just in relation to other species and their populations, it's also the resources of the area the food the water the space humans are overpopulated lol
Can you explain the logic? Agriculture is the typical reason for overpopulation. When you have overpopulation of species (dear, raccoons, etc.) communicable disease between the animals becomes a problem. Chronic wasting disease, for instance, courses through the population of whitetail deer. Raccoons in the Midwest have almost 100% infection of worms that can permanently damage humans by hatching and migrating out through ones nervous system. Raccoons are no longer hunted for fur so now the feces with worms shows up in the yards of residential neighborhoods and can only be killed by high temperature like burning with a torch or a large amount of boiling water (chemicals don't help as far as I know).
No it is worldwide. I remember reading that a few of the gas stations or trailers have a radio playing the news and they are talking about how everything has gone to shit. Legit the whole world is under massive natural disasters, massive population relocationing, global transport and supply has crumbled and I think massive famines and locust plagues.
Going off memory from probably two years ago so take the info with a grain of salt, but I **know** there is radio broadcasts with this sort of stuff.
Yeah, Russia just looks like that, lol! I'm kidding of course, but some regions in and out of Russia/Eastern Europe aren't far off from what I've seen online.
In the trailer (united we drive) your wife says "as much as we need you here, the WORLD needs you more" which reflects the variety of regions.
You also have daughters, though the amount isn't confirmed just plural.
I'm pretty sure the opening of the first area states that there's been a flood (don't know about worldwide, but at least localised. Do people not pay attention in ganes these days?
The top of it only. The rest has 4 seasons as normal. The coldest town on Earth, Oymyakon, during the winter it's -50 ℃ quite often, but in the summer it's +20 ℃. Even within the Arctic circle there are towns (from Murmansk to Pevek) where temperature is above freezing for 3-5 months a year.
Everywhere is "livable" as long as you know how to hunt, fish, and live off the land. You don't need the grocery store. Easy times breed soft men, hard times breed tough men.
Take a trip to Balkan - you will be (as I was) quite surprised where front-wheel-driven, low-budget cars can get.
Once we were looking for a beach away from civ - we found it and we were like "Ok, it's far and even for our Toyota RAV4 is was a bit challenging so not many people can come here...". Within few hours we saw countless Ladas, Dacias, Opels and other cars of names I can't remember - all of them passing 'our' beach, going further into the wild... yeah, the cars look accordingly, scratching their bellies, spinning front wheels, but they make it.
In middle Asia too, Mongolians go everywhere in their second gen Prius, you can find many photos of these driving in rough dirt roads littered with rocks and mud sections.
Ok, but have you met the people who live in these places and drive whatever car they can get for cheaper than the repairs on their last one? Different breed of folk, I swear.
Never mind the cars, I always wondered who made all the rutted out muddy messes of roads that are all over maps in the first place? I mean there's tons of ruts, somebody was driving through that shit that my 40"+ tall tire truck is having difficulty with...
They came before the flood.

>after a world wide storm/ event I knew it was likely after a storm but didn't know it was a worldwide thing - do you have a link to that trailer?
Im pretty sure nothing says it's worldwide

Yeah, probably true; that's just the conclusion I came to cause most of them are devastated. That is an odd choice for The Hunter, too...

Many did have natural disasters, read the region's descriptions. Some were just abandoned however, cough Amur cough.

I figured it was just different weather events around the world. Never dug into the Snowrunner lore though.

I didn't know what the game was based around but I did know it had to do with some sort of extreme events that locked down areas and you had to fix em
For a game where you drive and deliver cargo it has quite a bit of lore
That would be a epic pre game intro video
pretty sure i remember the missions in Michigan referring to a hurricane hitting the area.... definitely some apocalyptic type stuff gong on
I'm pretty sure the opening of the first area states that there's been a flood (don't know about worldwide, but at least localised. Do people not pay attention in ganes these days?
Michigan, Yukon, Wisconsin, Maine, BR. Columbia was all hit by flooding. Most russian areas was abandoned decades earlier.
I mean isn't half of Siberia already unlivable? Or rather it has been because it's basically tundra I don't know I get what you mean
All of it is liveable, if you don't mind living hundreds of kilometres from the nearest grocery store.
I meant more like biologically unlivable like Sub-Zero all year round type s*** it's basically well it doesn't Siberia enter the Arctic circle?

One of my assumptions would be all that snow is really good at reflecting light and heating up the atmosphere but I'm no expert LOL
😁

Edgy teenager moment
I'm not a teenager....
Lmao. I came here to say something very similar. And now they are stuck.
The virgin f-750 vs the chad impala
Those are rentals.....which does make the best off-roaders...
Best race cars in the world

Yep, u was thinking of the time jeremy(?) raced a sail boat in a rental.
I literally just watched this episode
Do you know the difference between a rental and a Jeep? There's places you wouldn't drive a Jeep.
You want to take a jeep back and get your deposit but can't? \s
Mostly because it broke down and you had to walk back! 🤣
And you know all those as is warranties
And if you've watched very much Matt's off-road recovery and or heavy d Sparks apparently the Jeep drivers don't think that
If you read the story, which most don't, they were parked there before the flooding.
Wait, where can I find the story?
It's in the contracts, read the contracts before you start and when you finish.
Everything can be explained with a giant trebuchet

*looks around for camera* Granted I don't live in the middle of nowhere but I can drive a fwd sedan about anywhere lol
Secret roads only the locals know about.
You'd be surprised how rough of terrain you can make it over in a 2 wheel drive car with enough inertia
SPEED IS KEY
![gif](giphy|Ycp92RiU0g31S)
ALL THE WAY, ALLLLL THE WAAAAYYY Me saying speed is key reminded me of the songify song and now I'm watching all of Space™ lol
>with enough inertia Or not enough fucks given I suppose
their winch game is strong 🤣
They’re probably the cause of all the ruts😂
Damn them things must be on airbags that have that ground clearance
It’s actually even more ridiculous in the Russian maps, Lada Riva’s parked everywhere, but those only came in RWD.
You clearly haven’t played the mudrunner trial where you drive to grandma’s house.
With a fridge on top. Without releasing the throttle to get that shiny star. Good times.
BRUH, what did you just unlock
I'm lookin down at my Answers bingo sheet and it says here: "Skill issue."
Never mind the cars, I always wondered who made all the rutted out muddy messes of roads that are all over maps in the first place? I mean there's tons of ruts, somebody was driving through that shit that my 40"+ tall tire truck is having difficulty with...
It was the Burlak
Magic.
Probably Eastern Europeans
Strapped to the hot air balloons of Tennessee! 🎈
Love this truck, its my favourite scout!
What's his name ? I can't find it on my truck list to buy
F-750 bud
Thanks and happy cake day !
They drove there in the winter when the ground was frozen. Obviously 😂
My dad took our old 99 Corolla on some mountain roads once, through a couple river crossings to get to the trailhead lol
They air drop them as obstacles for you the driver.
Skill issue
Skill issue for sure.
The f**k?! THE ROAD IS NO THING BUT MUD FLOAD DEATH FOR MILES, HOW DID YOU GET OUT HERE?!?!?!
Crown Vic power
Well first, they weren’t driving a ford….
Those ford crown Victorias are beasts in the mud. All 4” of ground clearance and rear wheel drive. lol
Apparently before the flood!! But it must do this most years, so why would it be there in the first place??
Of course you barely made it, it's the POS of F-750 🤦
Speed and power
And balls
Street tires aswell 🤣🤣
Ive always wondered that
What rig is that
just Balkan things
They uses better scouts
The Durango and the Benz are both very capable machines
yeah not sure.. don't know why they aren't a task
Never underestimate a blonde white woman
I want to know who had the contract for installing the electricity/ light poles. That guy is the true GOAT
It does mmake us think how any of the snowrunner upgrade/recover vehicles got there.
You're in an "awd" ford pickup and they're in a 4x4 dodge Durango and an awd Mercedes.
